How do I retire and still skydive?
elias123 replied to steve1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Who cares what kind of job it is or where it's at, as long as you can jump right? If I was in your position I wouldn't care much about what kind of job I'd get/take, as long as I get the money to jump. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane" -
Will do, I have lots of small tube stoes. Thanks for the advice! :) "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

Lol, I didn't realise I was replying to a 4 year old thread. I did a search and saw this thread among the results, I thought it was a recent one but obviously it wasn't :) "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

Some people can be addicted to it I think. I used to have a friend who lied about everything, even the smallest little things, but also very big lies. Personally I can't live with people like that. When I found out that he had said very big lies about me to his mother and friends I though that was the drop in the bucket, and sadly had to end our friendship. Eric (Tonto) Stephenson - Goodbye my friend
elias123 replied to sangiro's topic in Blue Skies - In Memory Of
I can't believe this :( My heart stopped when I saw the title of this thread in disbelief. I also did not know Tonto personally, but I gained much knowledge and had great pleasure reading his posts, advice and kind words. Fly free my friend, you will be remembered for eternity. I don't want to hijack or anything, but after the first 4 linestows I often do a double wrap on the linestows because I think that if I don't, the lines may become undone or too lose. Is this a bad thing? "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

Maybe it was on purpose or maybe it wasn't, I don't really know, but it's what they (one of the instructors) told me. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

I did in fact see the plane pass below me. When I was back on the ground and asked my instructors why that plane flew so close they told me "It's a little trick of the pilot that he does to 'scare' students". (Personally I think that's totally out of the line, the student will probably be scared enough making one of their first jumps ever, and a stunt like that will take the focus off a student while he/she should be focussing on his/her AFF, not only that but it's also plain dangerous). The camerman had at that time 4000+ jumps, the female AFFI had 4500+ jumps and the male AFFI had, I don't really remember, but in any case also over 3000+ jumps. The pilot was supossedly very expierienced. Still I'd like to know when somebody does something like that on a dive. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

I'm actually going back to that dropzone (Southern France) next year for a week. Video of that jump here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZpICbuTOYw "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

One of my first AFF jumps. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

I thought I'd seen that one before somewhere "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

For when when AFF is done there are quite a few good training videos like fly like a pro, pack like a pro, vertical journey, learning to sitfly, breakaway, ... Most of 'em can be found at paragear.com. I'd focus on your AFF (have fun! :) ) first though and consider buying afterwards. 0.02 "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

Not judging or anything, but I think I would have first done a solo jump with some dummy pulls if were to jump unfamilliar gear with an unfamilliar deployment manner/PC location. That way I could focus (almost) the whole freefall on getting familliar with new/borrowed gear/different PC location. I think that might lessen the possibility of going to BOC PC at pull time while in fact one needs to pull the leg PC. Blues Eli :) "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

I don't think those comments are his own. I saw this video on another site with the exact same comments. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

Care to explain again here? :) I've never heard about an Electric 8 Way? eli "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

lol, Of course I don't 'need' them. What would I use 'em for, I have only 65 jumps. I just 'want' them. :) They look cool, although they seem to be of no/little good use at all apparently. And the little use that they do have is something that I could not make use of and is not relevant at my current level of expierience I think. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"
-
Perhaps you're right. But even if I ordered them, I'd still be a long time before I'd actually use em. It's just that I have some credit at paragear and now that I realised that I can buy them there, I thought to myself, why shouldn't I? Guess I'll wait some more and save the credit for something else. Btw, if I would have bought them, I would definately concentrate only on opening/deploying with them at a relatively high altitude and do nothing else but fall on my belly on that jump. Check the post above. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

Well yeah, but if I bought them, I'd probably only use 'em for trackingjumps. I know that it probably won't make much of a difference, but still. And IF I bought them, I'd still not use them until I'm very current. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane"

I can't really say wich container it is I use because I still use clubgear and the setup differs sometimes. I have a rig/atom container with an electra 150 but I don't use it yet for safety issues. Good that you check it though. And I do ask other people to check my pin btw. I always ask an instructor to give me a gear check and usually I even ask a second.
