  1. Finding it hard to have too much sympathy here https://edition.cnn.com/2018/10/01/us/bear-injures-alaska-hunter-trnd/index.html "A hunter in Alaska was hospitalized after the bear he shot rolled on top of him" Never try to eat more than you can lift
  2. I applaud Booker for taking this stand and the Senators who followed him. There is no doubt the committee and Rs in general are using classifications to hide information. I am also sure that Ds have done this in the past. Wrong is wrong and it should get called out. Kamala Harris made him look like a lying weasel. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  3. Well DUH! How's he going to pay for the cuts without hurting the little guy? Never try to eat more than you can lift

To be fair even before Trump, some of them had run through the stupid forest and hit EVERYTHING. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  6. Getting pummelled in the midterms might do it but I'm not too hopeful thats going to happen. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  7. Considering you are pining for how things used to be, guided by a book that tells 2,000 year old fables, that statement is rather laughable. Bingo Never try to eat more than you can lift
  8. All right, but apart from the Budweiser, margaritas, frankfurters, hamburgers, Cajun culture, jambalaya, kindergarten, apple pie, cars, cowboys, the music to the Star Spangled Banner, morality, language, and religions, what have the immigrants ever done for us? The statue of liberty? Never try to eat more than you can lift
  9. Maybe not. But someone open carrying where it's not welcome, is. Pretty much by definition. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  11. I think this is overstated right now. Look at the latest quarterlies. Facebook is not "done" yet. (Much as I would like it to be so.) Never try to eat more than you can lift
  12. Tell that to Elon Musk: https://qz.com/1261214/how-exactly-tesla-shot-itself-in-the-foot-by-trying-to-hyper-automate-its-factory/ Yep - point taken, however look at the car factories of today vs those of the past. I suspect the numbers of people involved have generally dropped precipitously vs build speed. Plus - while I admire Elon for his vision in some respects, I have it on good authority he can be a bit of a prick Never try to eat more than you can lift
  13. Tell that to Elon Musk: https://qz.com/1261214/how-exactly-tesla-shot-itself-in-the-foot-by-trying-to-hyper-automate-its-factory/ It reminds me of the promise of AI in the 80s. "Yes sir, General, or CEO, or whoever's writing the checks. We have the concept of AI whipped we just don't have the hardware yet." Then we got the hardware and it suddenly got really quiet. Part of the problem is that people STILL don't really understand what AI is. I've just spent a year working on a number of projects for the NHS looking at the use of AI. AI (and more specifically ML) is already better than humans at things like identifying cancerous moles, or recommending drug regimes for chronic illness based on a number of symptoms. Planes can pretty much fly themselves, trucks could drive themselves (especially the big ones that just follow the main arteries round the country), there are AI bots to do certain legal profession activities. Anything that is largely repeatable and following a number of rules, is susceptible. Even the programming of the machines itself is at risk, which is when things do get a bit "terminator". 14. I think UBI is inevitable in the long run, (Or a similar idea) based on the fact that a lot of jobs, due to AI and automation, are never coming back. It's a way off yet but at some point, there is very little that won't be done better and more cheaply by machines. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  15. Something I've not seen discussed here is the fact that little psychopath Stephen Miller was the origin of this bullshit policy. How does that guy have a job in our government? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcn_B_KosL8 Every time I see Miller speak, all I can think of is how satisfying it would be to land a round kick into the side of his head. And I would be willing to pay a lot of money for that opportunity. I suspect you'd be in a long queue. That man has a face made for punching. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  21. Because it is complicated. People don't like to be pigeon holed. I self identify as liberal, but I have some views that more liberal people would disagree with. And even some that conservatives can agree with. I did not answer the poll because of that. It was too complicated for you to pick a liberal leaning independent? Which country? In the UK or NZ I'd be viewed as center right. In the US that makes me some way to the left. Never try to eat more than you can lift
