Jumper cables Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

I had my first slammer yesterday...on a Pilot 168. I "thought" I had experienced a hard opening once before. I was wrong. I saw stars, my neck hurt, my back hurt and my shoulder hurt. I landed uneventfully, but had to sit down on my butt for several minutes to gather myself before picking up my canopy. The head packer at Perris was the one who packed the canopy...she's always given me great pack jobs before, so I find it hard to fault her. I feel like I was in good position @ deployment (had been in stable boxman and dearching for 1000 feet, but who knows. Guess sometimes shit just happens. One of my customers was just explaining to me his job description. His work is replacing beacon lights and antenae arrays on towers and buildings all over the Western US... Bet he has some sets of keys people here would drool over... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

Since you feel like splitting hairs, I believe being anything other than an "amatuer" status disqualifies you from NCAA competition...so semi-pro is incorrect. Then again, if we go to high school stats, then we are talking about minors, which would pretty much negate any correlation to skydiving because for the most part minors can't skydive in the US. And are the USPA stats only recreational stats? Or do camera flyers, Instructors, Tandem masters, 4 way teams and other "pro" skydivers get included? According to the 2004 USPA stats, less than 3% of skydivers were injured last year. I have read studies where each year 4% of NCAA football players will hurt their ACL...and that is JUST the ACL. I have also read where the average NFL team has 2 broken femurs a year. 2 femur breaks among an 80 man roster is a 2.5% chance of breaking your femur...just your femur. Motocross...everybody breaks something Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

Would you let a 13 year old do a tandem?
HydroGuy replied to LawnDart21's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Screw that guy. And comparing a DZO kid, or Mullins kid or any DZ kid to some douche bag whos kid wants to do a tandem and brings up lawyer talk in 30 seconds is ridiculous. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -
From an injury standpoint, lots of sports compare to skydiving. Football and dirt bikes have a higher incident of femur breaks/participant than skydiving. Hell, so many people hurt themselves playing tennis it's silly (MCL, achillies, elbows, shoulders). Knees, ankles, shoulders and elbows get trashed playing baseball, softball, basketball, etc. Not too many other sports where you can hit the ground at a perpendicular angle going 120mph though... Received my custom Bomber Freefly Suit about two weeks ago. In that time I have put 15 jumps on it and 15 minutes in the tunnel. Suit fits as ordered. I ordered with the "normal" cut, and it is not excessively baggy anywhere. All stitching and matching was done well. Once my flying cleans up, I will be ordering a Bomber 2 Piece combo with the "tighter" cut.

Swanson and Alaska are doing a bunch of coaching out of the Freefly Mega Center (FMC), along with Cisco and Chisholm. Eli works on his computer. Rook runs a DZ. Alaska hurt his ankle earlier this year at the...Alaska Games. These guys are married and own houses... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

I've been jumping my new Bomber Flitesuit. It took ~6 weeks from ordering to wearing it. The stitching, matching etc are all very high quality. I ordered a regular cut...also offered is a slim cut. My suit was around 300 bucks with a custom pattern and piping, knee and butt cordura, and a pocket. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

Tuesday I learned to finally stick my backflips from a sit to a sit... And I had a good tunnel session with Diablo Pilot later that evening...after 5 minutes I had a "relatively" nuetral backfly. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

I was jumping @ Perris Tuesday and Wednesday...it has been completely taken over by pink!!! Those girls are fired up and kick ass! Tuesday they were having trouble getting the planes on one side of the formation tight enough. Also Tuesday afternoon the Monterey Otter lost its O2 system...this was discovered when all the planes had fired up and loaded. Roaring to the rescue about half an hour later was the second Elsinore Otter...the first already being there...nice teamwork between the DZ's. Wednesday the plane formations were tighter. I don't know anything about formation skydiving, so bear with me. I was sitting on the deck at the team rooms when they had a huge meeting. It was being said that they got all of the "wackers" in, and everyone was cheering. I assume this was a big thing...but I don't know what a wacker is. Also, injuries appear to be taking their toll...on Monday and Tuesday they were losing like a girl a jump...LOTS of women on crutches @ Perris right now. Surprisingly, no one seemed to get injured on Wednesday in the horrible gusty winds...they called our Skyvan down from altitude when ground gusts were over 32...it was the first time I've ever seen a load grounded at 12.8k. I for one did not complain. Also someone went to the hospital from heat exhaustion or dehydration yesterday. It was hot, but there was a LOT of cold water constantly available to the JFTC participants (including on the vehicles picking them up in the landing areas) and a cold swimming pool. I know I jump into that pool once a day when its hot. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

Jumping from a Plane in an Emergency

No comparison to any of these. People who die playing golf are USUALLY struck by lightning...or they have a cardio/pulmonary event...not many golfers die of ball or club strikes. People who die bowling, in basketball and football USUALLY die from a cardio/plumonry event. There have been thousands of pro football players in recent years, but only three recent deaths come to mind. Cory Stringer died of heat exhaustion which was caused by elevated body temperatures from a Caffeine/Ephedrine/Asprin mix combined with dehydration and high heat and humidity. The 49ers lineman - cardiac blockage. The LA Avengers player actually snapped his brain stem on a tackle...which is the only death you can REALLY attribute to football.
