Well, If somebody is going to start handing out Valium...I could use one!!! -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

Yeah, that makes sense...well, that was good to clarify... -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

jeez! I dunno then...that would sound pretty dangerous if it is a large plane. Letting the students out in a possible downwind situation if there is a bad spot, they are pulling higher, and the amount of canopies in the sky for a student. Three bad things that I can think of off the top of my head. Not good. If its a cessna...I wouldnt think that it would that big of a deal, but if it was a full super otter or something like that...I would imagine that there would be an another pass. Not only for safety reasons, but it will lighten the load and make it climb faster... -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

I posted on the other forum too, but here is my thought. Sometimes a DZ may put students and tandems out first because they are making 2 passes. The first pass is typically lower than the second. Students & tandems can take a little extra time in the door and in the interest of safety, they may make 2 passes at 2 different altitudes so students & tandems are taken out of the picture when experienced jumpers exit the plane. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

Did they do a special pass for you??? Sometimes with tandems & students they will do a lower pass or they do 2 passes because it can take a little longer to get a student or tandem out. Just a thought. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

In that case...I would try to pick a heading in the middle and go for it!!! I love that stuff, especially when it has been sitting in a freezer...yummy! Just like Mom used to make... -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

I think he's 17 inches tall and under a pound. Oh! The dangers of public schools...no wait a second, I went to a private school. I guess I will have to chalk that mistake up to too much beer. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

Do you have to maintain heading on that flat-track-stairs thing??? I would hate to have to do that part over again and again!!! -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

No matter how many times I see that picture...I still laugh!!! -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

Nah! I havent totally cut away yet...although I am planning on it, I just need to get the skills to work at a DZ. I am planning on getting my Static Line JM rating this summer. I am doing a bit of research on how to become a rigger too (reading, talking to our rigger, etc.) while I am gaining enough experience to become an AFF JM. I thought about flying camera, but I think that I am going to hold off a bit because of the incidents that we have had this season. I want to learn a bit more on that before I strap a camera on my bucket. Right now I am still working in the real world...it pays for my jumps. I am plannin on making my addiction work for me rather than working for my addiction soon enough though... Remember that add on tv a long time ago for the peace corps or something? The saying was "How do I get experience without a job and how do I get a job without experience?" Kinda reminds me of that. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

I am having pretty much the same deal...I got a 100 jump credit on my DZ account, a completely new rig, and a trailer at the DZ...Everything else could fall apart around me and I would still be all set for at least a while until the jumps run out...hehehehehe! Oh, I also have 2 offers for a slot on a 4 way team. Yippeee!!! -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

aufreefly, I cant give you any tips on packing the cobalt, but I do have a question...I checked out your profile, Is that your real name??? Sorry, I have a sense of humor like a child...I cant help it. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

Back to learning from this accident...My guess as to what MAY have happened is that IF he was going for a rear riser flare...he COULD have slipped on his grip. Especially if you are flying a high performance canopy. The margin of error on something like that is very slim. If you were to lose your grip on those rear risers...you are going to have some issues. I wonder if it would make sense to sew on a rear "flare" loop, similar to front riser diveloops, on the rear risers to make this safer. Just a thought. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

I saw Scott Miller put on a packing class down in Florida. He is the test jumper from PD and he had a few interesting tricks. It was a combo of the Wolmari pack and the ProPack. One of the things that he said was not to push the nose into the center because that is one of the causes of a line over. He also said that it doesnt make a huge difference to roll the nose, but if you are going to roll it...roll 3 or 4 cells, depending on a 7 or 9 cell cell canopy, from one side in and then the other side in. The interesting thing that I had never seen before which is similar to the Wolmari is to roll over, not under when you have the canopy flattened on the ground. He did however roll the topskin only back underneath the canopy. I had never seen that before either. He was full of information! I have been using his style since...seems fine to me! I jump Sabres. About 100 packjobs prior and 20 packjobs since I have changed my packing method and they all open great...havent got whacked yet. knock...knock...I havent tried psycho packing yet. I have only seen a few people that subscribe to this method. I havent had the time to learn it properly so I dont particularly want to comment on it. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

Cool. They look really cool and they seem really solid. I am considering getting one for my new rig. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

Nice tongue...whatcha got in da balloon??? -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

Yep, mine is 80% black with a bit of grey...so that explains why it stinks all the time in the heat. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

I would assume that you wouldnt wash your jumpsuit to show that you havent biffed it in...I know my roommate got a white Voodoo and he prides himself in the fact that he doesnt have any stains on it...although he does have thousands of skydives. I was against washing my suit...just to see how stinky I could get it. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"
-
I just washed mine in February...I just couldnt stand the stink of it...It was clean, but it just smelled pretty bad. Of course, as soon as I clean it...I land in a nice big mud puddle...ughhh. Figures...I hate spring in New England! I thought that if my jumpsuit didnt stink, I wasnt working hard enough. Its not like there isnt enough bad odor in the plane...I didnt feel the need to contribute anymore than I already do. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

Yeah, I think that I would have thought a bit more about my decision to keep the canopy, had I gotten hurt. But I honestly didnt even think about getting rid of it. I figured that it was a good canopy, I could control it...so why should I get rid of it? People can land these backwards. Go for it! I dont know if I would put a canopy on backwards on purpose again, but it does make for an entertaining story. It was a learning experience. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"
-
Sometimes I will take my canopy out and repack it just for shits & giggles...rainy day, snowy day, whatever...its good practice...you can take your time and inspect the canopy a little more than you normally would. Anything skydiving related is better than anything associated with "real life". Dont worry about it... -Slut "I'll jump anything!"

I went to Orange for Thanksgiving and jumped there the day after. It was freezing! -22 at altitude or something stupid like that. Rose was up at SDNE and invited us down. You got some nice people down there. Actually, we are going to be doing night jumps on the 6th of July actually so if you want to do one...here is your opportunity! Anyways, I hope you heal soon and get back in the sky. Take care. -Slut "I'll jump anything!"
