Many more times that number of innocent people, who disproportionately were children, got "slaughtered" in Iraq by "carefully calibrated" economic sanctions which were administered by the United Nations. That's not happening anymore there, fortunately. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

Computer type question about internet connectivity

I'm simply being curious. Did you install SP2? Was an anti-virus or firewall already installed on your system at the time you performed your "upgrade"? Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners! -
I agree with you guys that we as a nation need to do better by our military personnel. Realistically, though, all nations tend to "un-remember" the political and military lessons of past conflicts. The knowledge somehow has a shelf-life of sorts. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

Not in comparison with our invasion of Grenada. We've done worse before and never in our history has our military been subject to such scrutiny. Time will tell. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

I guess my point, and I do have them sometimes, was that in another generation or two the Iraqi occupation may be viewed as having been a necessary evil. And in all of our wars the taxpayers get pinched and VPs get enriched while brave people risk life and limb to “defend” a cause. Remember the Maine? (probable coal bunker explosion attributed to dastardly sabotage by Spain) I’m not convinced that Iraq will be perceived in the future anything at all like we look at the situation today or that any future marches to war will resemble anything materially different than Iraq, although some of them likely will be less-politic. Seldom if ever will we possess iron-clad proof, especially should we be compelled to act not against nation-states but against amorphous terror organizations and so-called rogue states which move surreptitiously to support of them in a new crusade. Neither Cuba nor the USSR had threatened to actually use the missiles against the US or to exterminate another people. We the US already had stationed nuclear Jupiter missiles in Turkey that were pointed at the USSR so arguably the USSR had justification for emplacing nuclear missile installations in Cuba. Why did we need to turn their fecal material upside down? Or, do we say this today because (1) we succeeded in causing the Cuban missiles to be removed without a conflagration and (2) historians have revised their accounts? The art of concealment has improved markedly since the Cuban Missile Crisis. As a result, “proof” is much harder to come by these days. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

With all the Saudis’ affluence wouldn’t it make sense to install an airport-like baggage storage system at the gates to prevent this recurring issue? Hajj Stampede Kills Hundreds MINA, Saudi Arabia (CNN) -- At least 345 people have been killed in a stampede during a symbolic stoning ritual at the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, according to the country's health ministry. Health Minister Hamad al-Maneh told Saudi TV that 289 others were were injured in the stampede near Mecca and taken to hospital. Many of those injured were not seriously hurt and have been released from the hospital, al-Maneh said. The number of injured does not include those treated on the scene, he said. Video of the scene showed dozens of bodies lying on the ground, covered with sheets and blankets. (Watch the stream of ambulances and medics among the dead -- 3:32) A U.S.-based religious scholar, who arrived shortly after the stampede, said it was a heartbreaking scene. "Looking at the amount of ambulances brings tears to your eyes," he said. "I heard screaming and I looked around and saw people jumping over each other. Police came and cordoned off the area. They starting pulling out bodies. The bodies were piled up. I couldn't count them, they were too many," Suad Abu Hamada, an Egyptian pilgrim, told The Associated Press. Ahmed Mustafa, an Egyptian pilgrim, said he saw bodies taken away in refrigerator trucks. "There must be dozens of people dead," he told AP. The stampede, like others in the past, occurred during the stone-throwing ritual in which the pilgrims stone a symbolic devil. It took place at a wide bridge over the desert plain of Mina. Saudi authorities had replaced the pillar, which had represented the devil in the past, with an oval wall with padding around the edges to protect the crush of pilgrims. Saudi officials had also installed cameras and dispatched about 60,000 security personnel to monitor the crowds. The interior ministry said Thursday's trampling occurred when the pilgrims bottlenecked at the eastern edge of the bridge leading to the oval wall. Many pilgrims brought their luggage, which caused further crowding. About 3 million Muslims are believed to have made the pilgrimage to Mecca, the birthplace of the Prophet Mohammad. The Hajj has been connected with deadly incidents in the past, most of them stampedes that take place during the ceremonies. However, at least 76 people -- mostly pilgrims -- were killed last week when a hotel collapsed near the Grand Mosque in central Mecca. It is still unclear what caused the small building to crumble onto the streets packed with pilgrims. (Watch rescuers dig through the rubble -- 2:27) The worst stampede happened in 1990, when 1,426 pilgrims were trampled to death. More recently, 251 pilgrims died two years ago in a stampede during the stone-throwing ritual. A stampede in 2003 killed 36 pilgrims, most of them en route to the devil-stoning ritual, conducted outside Mecca. In 2001, a stampede at the same ritual killed 35. Every able-bodied Muslim who can afford the trip is obliged to perform the Hajj to Mecca once in a lifetime. Making Hajj is one of the five pillars of the Islamic faith. Mecca is revered as the holiest site of Islam, and the Masjid al-Haram, or Grand Mosque, is the focal point of the rites observed. The six-day pilgrimage ends with a four-day feast called the Eid al-Adha. CNN Producer Schams El-Wazer contributed to this report. Copyright 2006 CNN. Associated Press contributed to this report. Good to the last glassful. I'm fortunate I don't live in an arid region where the fresh water supply is declining. Besides, we don't blame the lake for our weather, we blame Canada! Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

Sometimes it _is_ okay to hit people. Boxing and karate lessons by a good parent can help a kid to distinguish justifiable hitting linked to causality from unjustifiable or arbitrary hitting. Infrequent spankings that are tied to dangerous behaviors by a child should not have any different effect on the future propensities of the child to engage in violence when a sensical explanation accompanies the spanking. Perhaps somebody ought to tell those fine chaps that Orwell’s “1984” was never intended to serve as an instruction manual. Assuming you can peel them away from their deep-fried Mars bars long enough to tell ‘em. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

What’s the penalty for smacking parents who wield their children like fashion accessories and passports to preferential treatment? Quite a few of those in my neighborhood I might be willing to do some time for. Hey, FDR’s boys didn’t bother with warrants when they felt the need to open mail, eavesdrop on telephone conversations or whisk away private records. Of course FDR had packed SCOTUS by that time … Because you need a better tax advisor? The acid labs never quite caught on to the power of consumer mass marketing like Big Pharma has. You can ask your medical doctor or one of her friendly pharmaceutical representatives for additional information. Given the process of creative destruction at work, we’ll probably come full circle soon enough. Peace out. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

A similar thing happened to me once in a law firm lunch room. I was the only person who had or remembered his Red Cross training. I attended to the guy until the EMTs arrived. Fortunately the victim lived in my case. Pour yourself a stiff drink and hang in there. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

Since my campaign posters will be plastered all over America leading up to The Big One in 2008, there really doesn’t seem to be any reason why I would conceal that I am Senator John Blutarsky. Which I guess safe harbors me from liability when I place those annoying late night calls to Barb and Nancy after a bender with Ted. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners! -

I s’ppose there wasn’t much else _to do_ while awaiting reliable reports from the national security advisory team concerning the events that were unfolding in real time. Standing up, flailing your arms around and screaming “OMG we’re under attack, everybody is going to DIE” is considered bad form for American leaders. Instead you retain your composure and stick with the script. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners! -

Bill, the language you quote simply extends the corresponding Communications Decency Act provisos already in place. And the CDA was signed into law by President Clinton, not President Bush. The use of the “annoy” term is old hat but remains a valid concern due to selective enforcement. This is simply a predictable schuss down the slippery slope of government from telephony to who knows where. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners! -
