  1. That's unintentionally kind of funny. When our products land you don't want to be nearby. I don't ever have cause to deal with electrical issues, but yes, we use volts, amps, watts, etc. in our sensors. Except in electrical engineering there is little or no interaction between electric units and units of length, mass, and force, so it doesn't cause a conflict for the average engineer. The average engineering text book nowadays uses SI units, so that's what the average engineer is learning. In the SI system the electric units are obviously and simply related to mechanical units, which is very useful for anyone dealing with electromechanical systems of any sort.
  2. So watt English unit do they use for electrical power? Do they install 1/4 HP landing lights?
  3. Those Mars Rovers seem pretty mechanical. How many robotic vehicles has the UK sent to other planets?
  4. www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,473509,00.html Maybe this should be in Speakers Corner instead? CC
  5. I think you just made my point for me - thank you. And I notice you avoided comment on Palin's very clear statement in her campaign interview. Why don't you go ahead and show us where it says mentions rape/incest in the quoted text, Professor. I refer you again to your own comment about the difference between bills and amendments. . Who do you think you're kidding? The exclusion of rape and incest from the document is exactly the problem.
  6. Yes indeed. Reagan created Voodoo Economics, the idea that you spend what you want and just keep borrowing to pay for it. He racked up the largest debt increase in the history in the process, while pursuading everyone they were better off. Bush (43) is just a copycat.
  7. If you are developing a new drug to treat Parkinson's disease or diabetes, would you prefer it to be tested in a peer-reviewed scientific study, or have you some other method in mind?
  8. Tell me something, sunshine. Why should anyone be forced to pay for the healthcare of strangers? ? I'd far rather pay for the healthcare of a stranger (American) than be forced to pay for a war that we entered under false pretenses that has cost some $500Billion so far and killed over 3,000 Americans and countless others. does every issue come back to that for you? do you sit around thinking of how to tie everything back in to the war and the administration or does it come naturally? do you really want this administration in charge of your healthcare? do you realize that some day another administration will come along that you hate with every fiber of your being? do you want that administration in charge of your healthcare? you hate our government so much, yet you want to give them more power, it just doesn't make any sense. i would think you would want to strip the government of as much power as possible in the event another president comes along that you hate with such a white hot passion. It's just an example of how all taxes go to paying for things that we might not necessarily want to pay for. NCclimber asked why he should pay for someone else's healthcare. Asking why kallend should pay for a war he opposes is a fair response. If you have health insurance you are probably paying for some else's health care already. It's a silly argument.
  9. since you brought it up, wealthy people can afford the best. if you would be so kind as to give us the breakdown of where all the wealthy people go for medical care, that should be a pretty good indication of which countries have the best health care. lets not confuse quality of healthcare with afforability. "Quality" is not defined just for the wealthy. There are tens of millions of Americans who receive sub-standard health care in comparison with what is available in Canada, Germany, Sweden etc.
  10. So which one of those guys is saying revenues are not going up? I agree... but this has little if anything to do with Kallend's claim. Repeating the same thing over and over (in the face of evidence to the contrary) does not make it true, it just makes you look foolish and vindictive.
  11. One is that you never admit you are wrong. You are the first to state when you have a background that makes you the expert, but the last to bow down to someone else when they are the expert. All I did there was keep pointing out your hypocrisy. Well, what do you know....Oh never mind. You fiqure it out. daVinci, I see "appeal to authority" and "ad hominem" in your post. Did I miss one?
  12. Just supposing for a microsecond that he actually wins, how do you think the US government should pay for its overseas adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan?
  13. For those of us that have been asleep, what is the purpose of the donations, exactly?
  14. though it does show that those numbers are more dangerous than the numbers you had on skydiving, and these are emergency room incidents but is taken in 1996 I was gonna say that if a Cheerleader fell and bonked her noggin, the the concussion might never be noticed... but then I saw that football was that much higher.... so there goes that logic. Maybe there aren't many blond football players. (And shame on you for that thought, aren't you a MD?)
  15. That's correct, WM will not show up. I'd say, go to the WM folder and check the ATTRIBUTES, it might be set to READ ONLY, I'll see if I can test or replicate your problem later. First off, thanks for the help, guys. OK, it's neither read-only nor hidden. It is version 9.0.0.3250 if that means anything. Before spending a whole lot more time on this, is V10 worth the effort compared to V9 (other than to satisfy my curiosity at this point)?
  16. That's odd (I guess), Windows Media Player is not listed there at all. But viewing "file types" shows it as the registered viewer for media files, and clicking on, say, a .wmv file brings it up OK. The only wmplayer.exe on the entire drive is definitely version 9, yet Windows Update shows V10 as having been installed (four times now). Would the install file be stored in a temporary directory somewhere?
  17. The old version is certainly still there, but there is no new version (at least, a search for *player.* turned up only version 9.)
  18. I currently have Win XP Pro on a desktop and laptop. Windows Update suggested installing Media Player 10. I did this OK on my desktop PC, and MP10 is there and runs OK. However, my laptop (Dell Latitude) tells me the installation is complete, but when I run Media Player it's still version 9. I've tried 3 times with the same result. The installation history shows MP 10 installed. But it isn't! What's up?
  19. SC is just a love-fest these days. It will die of boredom.
