Nope, my baby stays in a cool cupboard and only goes into the car for the trip to the DZ. And the display is totally unusable. I looked at it very closely and there seems to be a crack coming from the side...but I have no idea how anything could have impacted there, or whether it was abused in a previous life and just needed something to trigger it? On friday after a jump I found my cypres display cracked/leaking black stuff around the screen I went through the video of the jump and nothing even came close to hitting my rig... I jump a Javelin and it's very well protected against my back so I have no idea how it broke, or whether its just leaking... Does anyone have experience with getting a new display? Turn around times etc? I live in Australia and what makes it worse it that I just got it back from a 4 year service a month ago. And my DZ is a compulsory AAD one. Bob These are heavy army guys (see also: SAS) on 170's. Mostly. Some on 150's when closer to 100 jumps. So where does your conservatism end, with people jumping PD300's? Cause by your logic it should. If purely safety was the only concern, we would never jump in more than 5 knots winds with pd 300's... There is a point where people will trade safety for fun. At the moment that accepted equilibrium point is 1.1 to 1 for newbies(with really light people being the exception). 25 years ago it wasnt. Im from Aus, hee every man and his dog loads at 1.2 off student status, and some at 1.4 with less than fifty jumps. Lots of people are doing it and not dying. Canopies dont magically hook you in... "In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother. Word to the motherf**ker." Eazy-E

Well, I jumped a PD300 when there were no other student rigs, and landed dead centre of the circles. Was alot of fun, although slow. I intend to give it a shot and see how I go. I'll also be able to land closer to the hanger (where the peas are) :-) I have a rig already, with a 170 Hornet, so not wanting really cheap gear. 0.7 would mean I'd need a 315 sq ft canopy, taking into account 30lbs of gear... Also since this would last one day in the classifieds, if anyone can hook me up with a canopy or rig for sale I would greatly appreciate it. 2 weekends ago I saw the mother of all dust devils cruising along the runway while walking to the plane. Apart from scaring the shit out of me, it got me thinking. Which is a rare occasion. Does heat create significantly more turbulence over even mostly similarly coloured ground? In the ASM(australia) there were two guys with less than 150 jumps a piece who docked head down... And we don't have no stinking tunnels here.... PS. I want to get one. Im 6'2 so I think a 21.5 inch TT is a must. But I'd like it set up for general mucking about and maybe a hint of flatland...Any tips for bikes, frames or bit n pieces? I used to race (when I was 11) but cracked my frame and hence it ended. Also anyone had experience trying to race as an adult with little prior experience? wet dream is an S&M race bike... All the home school kids I've met have been pretty weird. Everyone gets bullied, its part of growing up. I know a now deceased family friend who got bullied mercilessly for years. had that 5 weeks ago. drank a bottle of whiskey(1L) in 3 hours while driving back from holiday. Though I wasnt driving. Apprently I abused everyone in the pub, slurped up an entire pint of rum and coke that I spilt off a table. Made a huge dick of myself in front of my girlfriends friends, asking fat chicks if they were pregnant etc. The moral of the story is: Dont drink scotch when feeling down and out.
