  1. When I knew Curly, he had a head full of hair and it was pure white. He had an eye operation a number of years ago and it didn't work. He was blind when he took me up in the glider. He was a glider pilot but I don't know what else he did out there. Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live

  5. From what I read in Mars & Venus, men think that when we want to "just talk" they think they need to "fix" something and when they try to come up with something, we get mad and say they aren't listening. If women just tell them (you don't have to say or fix anything, just listen) the men can put their guard down and relax. All women are trying to do is work things out in their head (verbaly). Damn good book for both sexes.
  6. Oh don't worry about it. It just makes for conversation out here. It's no different than the tornado areas of the US or the huricane areas, etc. Let'er rip.................. Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live

  10. I had about 1600 jumps before my first and only mal. The pilot chute came over the leading edge and then back through to pinch it off on the left side. I at first thought I had a line over. 20. In 2002 we started off with about 150 and when it wasn't completeing, and getting closer to the end of the time alloted for the jumps, the ax came out and it started cutting until we got a completion. 131 is the record at this time. Anything above that will become the next record. I hope this helps. Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live

  22. Don't blame the "rig". It's possibly a worn out F-111. Were you jumping a 0-perosity canopy during student status and switch to the F-111? Sounds like a rigger could watch you land and see if it's a trim problem but don't blame the whole righ and don't let it freak you out. Sometimes it's just part of learning something new. Be safe. 25. Bonehead here. Our helmets are not and never have been DOT rated. You would need something like a motorcycle helmet to get the impact absorbsion you would want for base jumping. Our military helmet is BIG because we have put in some styrofoam in it to help with impact absorbsion but it still won't pass the Snell test past a ski helmet penetration. Some of the other posters here are right, it's not just in the shell, you need good shock absorbing padding in a helmet to protect your skull. As one poster put it, our helmets are basically made for scuff and rash protection and not designed to disperse an impact. You guys wouldn't wear something that big, it aint cool! I hope this clears things up. Skydiving gave me a reason to live I'm not afraid of what I'll miss when I die...I'm afraid of what I'll miss as I live
