  1. I'm going back home for the first time since I started jumping and wanted to touch base with some "natives" and get some info on the DZ. I will be going back in October (week of the 25th) and was curious about weather, etc. since I haven't lived their in over 18 years. Love to hear from all of "Y'all" Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... Back2Back slammers and 40yr old fat guys don't mix!
  2. I heard that......Corny as it sounds.....that #$@!#$% line from 'Finding Nemo' kept ringing out in my head, "Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming"....and I did. I have since banished that thought (at least that version) from readiness prep. Good luck on the "A" check Lordy![b/] Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... 5. Same problem....I've dealt with it since before I was 30. Push-ups and Mil presses (light weights, frequent reps) should isolate and work those areas. Careful, I went from a small A cup to a large B after a few of these Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... Back2Back slammers and 40yr old fat guys don't mix!
  6. Besides losing weight, Inflateable suit, etc. Seriously!!! I'm aware of practice, practice, and more practice....but from experienced "Lard-Ices", what types of suits, techniques yield the best results? I was in a shoulder-in track for most of a jump and still averaged 144mph. Yes speed is cool, but I have a lot of "feathery" friends that I would love to jump with on a regular basis...... BTW 280+ @ the door $20 per reply on advice that "I" deem useful! Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... Back2Back slammers and 40yr old fat guys don't mix!

  13. I can't agree more. I fell victim to multiple wind/rain/cloudy days and it took me 3 months to get through AFF with a setback on L6. I personally found that getting there early and chattin' with the vets was worth way more than the jump experience itself. As for the multiple jumps per day during AFF, depending on your age, health, and stamina, all you can do is try. I took it day by day and so far it is working for me. Blue Skies!!! 18. I was 34 and 80 pounds over the 230lb max weight for a tandem. I blew off all 80 and then some to make my first jump @ 35 (May 15, 2004). I started AFF six months later and here I am. 22. Me too! Musch thought went into the initial post, and I appreciate all the words (serious, comedic, WTF?, etc.). I feel the road is a little clearer now and maybe I was chasing "someone else's" experience or expecting too much. I now understand that it is "my" personal experience from jump to jump to enjoy, ANALYZE, and grow on, that does, and will continue to provide the inner peace and soul cleansing that I seem to get from it all. In summation....I have decided to pick a fight thirty seconds prior to exit on EVERY run!! . Anvil Brother #69 Sidelined with a 5mm C5-C6 herniated disk... 24. Just thought I'd start out by saying it bluntly..."Where is the Rush? I fell in love with skydiving on my first ever tandem jump. It took a few months, but I came up with the money for AFF and took the leap. Had a blast through all eight jumps. Each lesson presented a new level of anxiety/nervousness, not full blown fear, but lack of confidence in my abilities. I managed to get through all of the levels (even with rain, wind, and clouds) and I have three awesome jumps since graduation. I always hear about the "rush", "addiction", "gotta jump" scenarios but can't relate to any of them at this point. I love the freefall, scenery, canopy ride, and landings. I feel exhillerated and mentally free upon landing, but have yet to get the adrenaline rush. Side note: I am well aware of what adrenaline feels like i.e- 30 seconds or so leading up to a bar brawl, etc. I've felt it. Just not skydiving. Is there a mental, physical, or chemical block preventing me from enjoying it to the fullest? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. -Slider BTW - I just dropped $3800 into a rig. I am commited!
