Mine was given shortly after my first AFF jump. After I threw out, I noticed that I had the dreaded "Slider stuck in the DOWN position" malfunction. I spent 90% of my time under canopy flaring, steering, kicking, etc. trying to clear this mal. No matter what I tried, the slider would not go up where it was supposed to! Then, all of a sudden, I realized that my controllability checks were normal and relaxed enough to start my final approach (spazzed my way through the setup and base leg) and stir up some dust. I had a group RW jump the other day and was trying out a different jumpsuit for speed control. It was a loaner freefly suit which had a lot of material around the ankles. I exited with the intent of meeting the two-way that exited with me. I located the group almost immediately and started to "drive" towards them. I felt positive pressure on my legs and felt as though I was driving forward....but...I wasn't. A senior, much more experienced jumper with me said I backslid the whole time and it took all he had to catch up to me before he attempted to signal "legs out".. BTW....He said he saw the freefly group that exited after us just behind me The question....does excess material on the legs create a "false-positive" feeling of pressure which would lead you to think you are doing everything right in driving forward? I don't have a history of excessive backsliding and did 2 more jumps after(with two other suits) and watched the ground for movement on my part and there was no noticeable sliding. Any thoughts....? I was there @ deployment and we were cruisin' @ about ~140 (via Pro-Track on the ankle) when he threw. I watched the opening as I tracked away and it didn't seem rough or ABnormal from my view. Whoa ther Admiral....I'm whiter than Halle Berry's teeth and I too grew up in less tha un-desirable circumstances. I was one of three whites in my elementary years classes. I fell victim to reverse racism at an early age, repeatedly beaten' by "blacks" much older than me just for the purpose of stealing the Food Stamps I was carrying to get food for my brothers and mother. Am I sore, disgruntled, pissed-off?....NO! I chose to "lift myself" out of multiple bad situations and make a better life for myself. An opportunity that "EVERYONE" in this country has a right to do regardless of race! Some even have more opportunities because they are considered "less fortunate" due to race. Not me. I had to scratch and scrape for everything I have today. As for all of those cryin' about inequalities and opression, I have a brand new jar of "Smuckers Grape Jelly" and my pant's around my ankles. Take a hard look at the people you know who are truly in an "opressed" state and ask yourself, "Are they doing "EVERYTHING" they can to improve their quality of life and that of those around them?". Once you have done that, I have a strong feeling you will rethink your views on how bad some folks really have it...... If not, maybe some day you will. I filmed my tandem but also deemed the filming of AFF a distraction. I f I had the cahnce to do it again, I would have it filmed. I've linked to #9 for me. I had just graduated the load before. Get as much video as you can.. My "Post-AFF" 1st Solo

Quitters? How can anyone, even with 1 tandem who chosses not to return be called a quitter, especially when only a small fraction of us choose to take the plunge in the first place? Whether it's 1 or 10000, the fact that anyone once felt the rush, the release, the freedom, etc. of skydiving, it is no small feat. I applaud anyone who has the courage to walk away. I know this is in 2 other threads, and, I have read them both. Any new news or suggestions as to the jump-worthines of this cam? Even if it is just for educational purposes for newbs who would like to "expand" yet be safe while doing it. Thoughts..... BTW - I am aware of the USPA recommendation for camera flying.
