  1. Tom P. is into the whitewater thing. Keeps telling me to forget about flat water.
  2. Not whitewater just flat water. If so could you PM me. I am trying to decide between a couple different models and would like a sounding board or two. Thanks. Ed
  3. The good things about small towns are as you mentioned. Everyone knows and cares about everybody else. That is also the bad part. You don't ever seem to have any privacy. People always seem to know everything about your life. Sorry to hear about your mom thoug. That is truly a crappy way to find out about the niceities of small town life. Ed
  4. First time? Hell I can't remember the last time. I'm only worried about the next time.
  5. I am not a vet, but Tufts in Rowley Mass. is a great school.
  6. Rings lots of bells. Good people to meet and know. Good place to jump and to go through AFF.
  7. I don't know about best as I always though Farside was up there too. Don't want to have to pick between them.
  8. I had to vote for classical guitar because my true favorite (harpsichord) wasn't on the list. Baroque guitar is a close second though.
  9. Not all people that neglect to log jumps "cheat". I have never been much into logging so I just report the ones I write down. I log for currency only. Easier to keep my ratings up that way. I never understood the big deal about jump numbers anyway. After you get your ratings and licenses you don't need to keep track of all of them for any other than personal reasons. Of course I do get a lot of wuestions about my total after the time I have in the sport, but that isn't that big of a deal for me. Ed
  10. I know that woman can fake orgasms but how do you fake a vagina?
  11. I think that the exit is the most important part. Solid exit and the rest of the dive is pretty easy. I am short and fat. Not the optimum body type for tandems so I just fly my body. Sometimes it looks pretty stupid but I can get almost every jump to fly straigt. Only once did I have a student that kept us spinning after drogue toss. He was big, burly and frozen. Nothing would make him arch and be symetrical. I couldn't budge any of his limbs. I opened at about seven thousand so I could deal with the line twists. Other than that I have never had a problem out flying a student without hooking them. For whats its worth. Ed
  12. The only things I really keep shooting down are the ones I just can't afford. One of the things I would like to try is the wingsuit thing but I can't afford the suit and new gear to jump it. However one of the posters suggested a canopy that might fit into my container that would be mor suitable so that is an avenue I am looking at. I don't think you are harsh you're just speaking your mind. Thats cool. The only peopl so far that I can't seem to understand are the ones that have PM'd me ( with blank profiles and/or screen names that I have not seen previously) and told me that I was looking for ego gratification or that I was the biggest loser they had ever heard of. I am toning down the language quite a bit, but you get the picture. Seems that some people grow larg balls when they are anonymous. Human nature I guess. I was and am looking for a way to put the spark back in the sport for myself. This might mean taking lots of time off during the season to pursue other things even bowling. Just so I don't feel obligated to jump just because its a weekend. Maybe leess tandems and more fun jumps. Thanks for the input. Ed
  13. I've already got a ball. Its not a bad thing to do on a rainy night but it is a bit on the slow side.
  14. Actually exploring this area of recreation. Thanks for the opening.
  15. Basic physics. Boyles Law I think. The reduced atmospheric pressure outside the container (our bodies) allows the gas inside to expand. Some people are worse than others smell and volume wise. I don't see as there is any way around the fact that we are going to tend to be a very smelly bunch. Especially with the diets some of us partake in.
  16. French's mustard on pinaapple. Tastes like candy. And while people might not cringe when pasta sandwiches they do point in laugh. I love my carbs. Ed
  17. I tend to be much more reserved and polite online than in person. I don't want to offend anyone inadvertently. I want to offend only the people on my list. Ed
  18. I have unfortunately seen more than my share of really bad accidents. Some fatal others that should have been. The older events are not forgotten but thankfully the details and images are foggy. I never even thought of turning away. Not out of some noble duty, but because the only thing my brain thinks of at the time is "shit I can't believe this is happening". I refer to it as "watching the train wreck". Maybe some of us have wiring that causes us to be memerized by impending doom. When I am involved in an emergency personally I don't get this kind of fixation. Which is good for my physical self preservation. I am sure there is a therapist somewhere that could explain this to me. Ed
  19. I believe a succulent is a plant that stores most of its liquid in large fleshy leaves. Aloa is in the same category. I am working from memory here and might have the phraseology wrong. Ed
  20. General response to all. Thanks for all the help and especially the PMs. I have some ideas and suggestions to follow up on now that I hadn't thought of on my own. The biggest hurdle I have to face now is getting over the feeling of "its a weekend therefore I have to be at the DZ". Again many thanks. I am fairly certain as to which course of action I will follow. Ed
  21. No stess in my life. Not looking for an ego boost either. Actually got some good ideas from a bunch of people. Even more people have PM'd me so this is actually working out for me fairly well. Sorry you mistake my attempts at humor as being snide. I guess I have been trying to use this forum as a sounding board for ideas. You and others are actually helping me find a new direction to go in.
  22. If you back up to near the beginning you will see that the low total of jumps has been dealt with. I am not really that good at logging. The flat is good change is bad thing is tongue in cheek. Doesn't seem to come across as well on the screen as it does in person.
  23. That would also explain the jangling sound I hear when they walk by.
  24. I actually have tried new things in the last twenty years. I just can't afford to buy a new rig to get into crw or freeflying or a wingsuit. I have actually done more new things in the last couple years than I ever have. Did you know that there now is a "diet" coke?
