  1. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a good idea to offer college students such consumer credit. However, the offers are made to college students over their peers not attending college for good reason. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  2. Do you play for $50 or $100 per rack? No gambling allowed. A game named after gambling, and there's no gambling allowed? That's just wrong! Playing for tequila shots is more fun. More fun than playing for dead Presidents? I'll have to respectfully disagree.

  4. You must have missed the thread in which it was pointed out that such expenses are covered by the Obamas, not the taxpayers. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  5. Both the lenders and borrowers typically anticipated students graduating from college and obtaining employment that offered sufficient income. Did kids that weren't enrolled in college receive credit offers at the same rate as those in college? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  6. I was just pointing out that private industry is not always more efficient than government. Anyone who thinks it is is kidding themselves. There is nothing inherent in private industry or government to make either one the most efficient in all cases. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  7. Agreed. I would suggest that the former was the greater mistake, if only slightly so. Consumers are not accustomed to being offered loans that they will not be able to afford if everything goes as anticipated (i.e. no job loss, income reduction, etc.). Most of them knew nothing about CDO's, and that it wasn't in the bank's interest to even care, since their mortgage would be quickly resold. That's doesn't mean the consumers were not at all to blame, just that traditionally there has been a safeguard in place to prevent over-borrowing, rejection of the loan application. Qualifying for a loan used to mean exactly that, the applicant was qualified and able to meet the obligations of the contract. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  9. That I don't know. I just know for certain that it has been landed on at least one runway that is too short for a "stock" 747. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  10. I was just pointing out that the reality of the typical situation does not match the claim made in the post. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  11. Sorry. I can't read your mind. I just have to go by what you write. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  12. Interesting. The interest rate on ARM's is typically tied to an index, the future performance of which is unknown at time of signing, thus it could not be known "EXACTLY" what the future payments would be. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  13. A more relevant question would be whether or not she supported the torture. I haven't heard anyone claim that the interrogations should stop. And you know she didn't how? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  14. How many of those making such claims are operatives? The operatives that have addressed the issue have been clear; torture is an ineffective interrogation method that does not yield reliable intelligence. Divulging classified information as long as it is classified is generally not in the interest of national security, regardless of one's personal views w/r/t that information. Math tutoring available. 15. If she was privy to classified information, it is most probable that she would be unable to divulge that she knew, let alone what she knew. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  16. Not necessarily. Sometimes newer, more efficient technologies cost more because economics of scale haven't kicked in yet or because they don't have hidden subsidization discounts that more traditional technologies might have. Clearly. again, you hit the nail on the head. and, it's true for most also from the home buyer's perspective as well Right, but that does not make one a "nutjob" just because they are willing to pay more money in order to lessen their carbon foot print. Some people actually consider other things to be more important than money. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  17. There are none so blind as those who will not see. I guess I'm still curious. Can you please explain, in plain english, your meaning? Thanks. In plain English, two washers could have been shipped from South Carolina to Texas by the government, via USPS, or even personal courier, for far less than $1 million. Math tutoring available. 18. The 747 commonly used as Air Force One has been modified in some fashion in order to land on shorter runways than a typical 747. When Clinton was President, I remember it landing at the airport where I worked, something generally not possible to do safely (i.e. without running out of runway) in a 747. Math tutoring available. 19. Remind us again which to branch of government the CIA belongs. To which branch of government does the commander in chief belong? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  20. I'm sure we can find comfort in the "fact" that private industry is always more efficient than government agencies. Surely you don't believe that USPS would have charged less than $1 million to ship two 19¢ washers from South Carolina to Texas, do you? I'm curious how a couple of criminals defrauding the government by taking advantage of loopholes in government payment schemes says anything about efficiency in the private sector? 21. that's a much more effective approach for a home buyer than just trying to appeal to the self righteous "enviro-smug" and it's real, compared to the other the nutjobs (5%) are doing it anyway, you need to appeal to the practical home buyer (80%) who want a REAL reason to do this There's nothing wrong with using green technology simply because it's the right thing to do, regardless of cost. I certainly wouldn't call altruistic people nutjobs as you do. Altruism isn't a bad thing. However, from the builder's perspective, the home is an economic asset, not an ideological symbol. 22. My first car was a 1969 Chevelle Malibu with a 350. In hindsight, I'm surprised I didn't kill myself in that car. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
  23. I suspect you don't realize just how accurate those words are. Edit: [billvon] made the observation before I did. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

  25. I think the motives of pirates is more capitalistic than idealistic. Maybe, maybe not. What he won't get is a jury of his peers. It remains to be seen whether that will work in his favor or against him. I'm not sure what the legal precedence is, but I'm fairly certain there are precedents. Piracy is a reemerging problem, not a new problem. Article I of the Constitution authorizes Congress to "define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas." I would be very surprised if they have not done exactly that at some point in the past. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
