It was his 2nd slider-up jump ever, he wore no helmet and no armor except kneepads. He jumped an old Russian canopy called Universal. While it is technically BASE specific, it is by no means state of the art. It was said to be unvented. [inline lex.jpg]

It requires a little more attention and is easier to screw up. You can end up with linetwists if you forget to remove, or worse yet you double, the intentional twist; you can end up with a burn mark if you don't have the bridle extension and leave the bridle attachment point buried deep in fabric—that sort of stuff.

As a proud owner of a brand new canopy, I can safely say that, unless I use psychopack, I can't otherwise get it in the bag and looking decent in any reasonable amount of time.

Here's a handy dictionary for translating ads in the Classifieds: unique color pattern (so ugly it defies description) lines still waxy and white (just back from a reline) few jumps (by me, anyway) extremely good condition (for 2000 jumps, sure) great shape (no shit, truly elliptical) rigger-owned (carefully patched every time) mint condition (spilled toothpaste on it, sorry)

The year is terrible. Alexey had more than 2000 skydives. This was his 23rd BASE jump.

Today morning 10:20 AM Alexey Sayutin, of Engelsk, Russia, made a short delay slider-up cliff jump. The delay is estimated to have been 2 or 3 seconds. He experienced a 180 offheading, hit the cliff and slid down to the talus, receiving numerous injuries. Rapid revival efforts ensued to no avail. Alexey was pronounced dead an hour and a half later. More relevant detail to be posted later. BSBD.

Come on, "ahead of time" is really an unjustice and a big exaggeration. That guy you have in mind had done two tandems and one AFF. And he survived FJC mostly intact. What are you talking about?!

Yeah yeah! How's your Cheetah Mindwarp doing? Put 6 jumps on the rig, fits like a Racer. Sloppy psychopack (because pro just doesn't work with small d-bags and brand new canopies) led to some verrrry fun openings, and of course a hot dry no-wind day under an unfamiliar canopy led to some verrrrry interesting landings...

Hee, thanks. I am rather, eh, fond of cheetahs. I like the diversity of opinions. People either love it or hate it, no middle ground here. I also got a BASE rig in the making in exactly the same coloration.

Spirit (Paraavis), Quest (Atmogear) for Russia. Quest is just a H/C, you have to stuff it with canopies from another manufacturer I think; Spirit comes as a full package. -

Who said I got rid of it? I just need a main canopy, a Cypres, and it'll be my backup rig. My flimsy pretext to order another container was its ridiculously low price ($750 with options, no stainless) and that you generally don't want to jump a pull-out with a wingsuit.
