Oh God! Yet another data!. Navigator has 2.52:1 as aspect ratio. So? Spectre has 2.14:1 and PD-R has 2.1:1, but those are 7 cell canopies. Check Planform factor. It might help to understand things. From that you might see that Safire2 has higher planform than the legendary Stiletto. Regardless you have yet to answer my question. I will break it down so that it's much easier for you to understand. Jumpshack claims the Firebolt as a fully elliptical canopy. People on these forums (www.dropzone.com) often say that inexperience jumpers should not be on fully elliptical canopies, regardless of the w/l'ing. What makes the Firebolt different? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

I understand that. But as stated on there website the Firebolt is a fully-elliptical canopy. I remember a thread in the instructors forum about letting students use lightly loaded stilettos as there canopies. Even at a very light w/l'ing people said that a student should not be flying an elliptical canopy. So why is it ok to fly the firebolt under such a light w/l'ing but not a stiletto, crossfire, vision, etc... It's aspect ratio is roughly the same as the stiletto (stiletto-2.68 to 1/firebolt- 2.65 to 1). _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

No which is why I am asking. From reading these boards it seems that most people are highly against any new comers jumping an elliptical canopy regardless of w/l'ing. So that is why I am wondering why it's ok to put someone even at a lower w/l under an elliptical in this situation. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

I don't get it. The website says the Firebolt is a fully elliptical canopy. Doesn't seem right for someone wtih 25 jumps. If thats the case why not put him under a stilletto? _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

I was in high school, in auto shop to be more exact. We were listening to the radio when the emergency broadcasting took over. I was stunned but could not believe a plane hit the tower. It wasn't until 12 that I went home for lunch and turned on the TV and saw the footage. My mouth dropped to the floor. I was shocked that they actually had footage of the planes hitting the buildings. Right after that the footage of the towers collapsing was shown. I had no idea they collapsed!!! These two huge buildings, ones that I have stood on top of were now laying in ruins!! I remember the footage of a bunch of people talking to a firefighter on the ground a few blocks away. The footage was taken by someone filming a home movie. It showed these people talking among themselves when a shadow of an airplane appeared on the buildings in the background. It was the second plane seconds from hitting the building. The camera looked up just in time to see the plane crashed. The horror. 3 people I knew left school early that day not knowing if there mothers were now widows or not (only 1 still had her father the next day). I remember driving to the mall later that day. 9-11 is my fathers b-day and I had to get him something. I remember sitting in my convertible with the top down at a red light. The lack of air traffic noise spooked the crap out of me. I live in the middle of long island. There are always planes in the sky going to JFK, LGA, Boston, or the airport in my hometown. Although the noise is never loud enough to be annoying you could always look up and see a plane pass overhead. I sat at that redlight for about a minute and a half, the eire sound of nothing and the lack of planes in the sky will always haunt my memories. My cousin is in the NYPD, he was one of the last people in building 7 before it collapsed, lucky for me he is safe. I can't imagine the fear that the people had who were in the planes. I can't imagine the fear that the people had who where in the buildings. I can't imagine the images that are forever burned into the minds of the people who were blocks from the buildings. But I will always remember where I was, what I was doing, and how I felt that day. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

I am guessing that you were using maybe a rental alti? If thats the case those things get abused pretty badly. Just like any other mechanical device if you don't take care of it, it will get screwed up. There was a thread in the gear section about altimeters and a few people posted that they have been using there altimeters for many years so I don't think they misbehave that often. Nice job at assessing your situation and performing correctly. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

Transitions: One for all, all for one
Mostly_Harmless replied to Mostly_Harmless's topic in Photography and Video
I noticed that most films only use cuts but wanted to get everyone's opinions on it. I went home and watched my movie over again and really notice what you said quade, there were too many times I was wow'ed by the transition. So I cleared all my transitions and tried to do only cuts but with the outcome not so good. Then I went to plan "b" and kept with only fades and cross fades. This seemed to wok pretty well. I kept them short as in not to be too distracting from the footage. Thanks for the advice guys, it really helped out. I never thought that transitions could ruin the video but when I read this from quade: it made a lot of sense. DSE- I am only an hour away from the city by train :) _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity -
I use to get 90/180 degree openings on my Safire. I stopped pushing the nose in (just left it hanging) and the offheading openings went away. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

Transitions: One for all, all for one
Mostly_Harmless replied to Mostly_Harmless's topic in Photography and Video
Just want to ask the advice of all you video guru's out there. I am currently working on a video and was wondering what are your opinions on transitions? I am using PowerDirector and have access to about 50 different transitions. I try to use some of the fun ones but also try to stay away from the cheesy ones. Should I just use 1 transition between all the clips, or maybe pick out 3-4 of them (I am currently using about 10 of them) and use them through out the entire movie, or should I not use any of them. The purpose of this video is just a fun video highlighting some good jumps that happen over the season at my DZ. I am not planning on selling it or anything else like that but I still want somewhat of a professional touch to it. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity -

You said that she's an AFF Instructor so obviously she's done a bit of jumping herself. Why did she not make all the required checks? Are you causing shit? I think he means that the person who sold it to her is an AFF Instructor. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

Forget about it now. I finally broke down and brought a new program, Cyberlink PowerDirector, and I am glad I did. This program is pretty awesome and solved the problem I was having with WMM. Thanks guys for your help! _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

Even if the average person could locate a body of water I would think it would pretty hard for them to get into either a head down position or a standing position to enter the water. If I found myself outside a plane without a parachute I would look for other victims and attempt to dock on them just for the fun of it. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

Thanks DSE. I am going to keep trying to see if I can find some sort of solution. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity

I understand that but my problem is still with WMM. IS there any particular reason it would distort the music and not the video (the video doesn't skip etc...). If this is the case then I am only left with encoding it in a lower quality format. It looks good with the lower quality format but it doesn't compare to if I was able to use the DV-AVI format. _________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
