Thanks, but presumably the estate gets to pay off debts before the tax assessment is made. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

Funny thing to ask a bunch of skydivers. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

And all skydivers are suicidal, too. No. No more than all pilots or all drivers who turn on cruise control at 70mph, all motorcyclists or even all people who cross a busy street. In each case you commit to an action and if you don't follow through correctly you may well die. But that's not suicide. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical. -
How about those CEOs that made the decisions that drove companies like WaMu, AIG, etc. into dire straits. How much are they worth? If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

His number actually reveals quite a lot. It shows that he gets his gun violence numbers from anti-gun organizations, which count suicides in with murders as "gun violence". Explain how shooting oneself is not violent death. The difference here is a harm to society issue. Suicide, although illegal, typically does not endanger others. If guns weren't available, knives would work; if no knives, 20g of tylenol... or 50g...; If no tylenol, a rope or a motorcycle or a car or a "no pull." Once someone is committed to go forward with that plan, it's violent regardless of how it's done. But it's not necessarily a threat to society (likewise I don't think intentional deaths while skydiving should be counted against the sport) Pretty convoluted logic you have to use to make a gun suicide not violent. I wonder if the ER doc can tell the non violent shootings from the violent ones by examining the victim. You did read the bolded part, right? Sorry, I now see that you agree that shooting oneself is indeed "gun violence". Are you aware that the suicide rate is very well correlated with the rate of gun ownership? It is more acceptable than the alternative, where privacy rights are eroded along with gun rights, and people would avoid seeking medical attention for fear it will lose them their guns, jobs, and other rights. (and how many deaths would THAT cause?) It's good that you admit that we could do a better job of preventing nutters from committing mass shootings than we do right now. I seem to recall John Rich writing some months back that a few mass murders were a small price to pay for his freedom to play with his toys. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical. -
(However, I *am* impressed you were able to look up industry terms. You get a cookie!) Oh, I assure you I needed a lot more than that to get my degrees in metallurgical engineering. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

My apologies, that was a typo - it's 38-41 (for Caspian slides). Class is still out of session until you do your homework. Rc 38-41 could be almost anything. Tell us the grade of steel used for the slide of each model (AISI, SAE or ASTM) and I'll believe you. Is it austenitic, martensitic, ferritic, or duplex? You don't actually know, do you? If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

Because, if you knew what you were talking about, you would realize that 'stainless' is actually only stain-resistant. It doesn't mean that it will never stain or rust. I've already shown above where the gun being talked about in the OP is actually a forged steel frame with a chromed melonite coating - you idiots are the only ones still going on about a stainless slide, which makes ZERO fucking difference to the tests that Cali does. I don't give a shit what Quade said, frankly. Regardless of the steel used, handgun slides are generally tempered to a range of 38-51 Rockwell. Class is over. If you still wish to discuss this, explain in your next post how slide material affects the barrel or the lockwork. So you don't actually know, you are just blowing smoke. 28 - 51 Rc is quite a range, as any metallurgist will tell you. Could take in a lot of different steel grades. And even if they have the same Rc, they can still have VERY different K1c and CTOD values. It's OK, we understand. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

So that justifies not even attempting to prevent nutters from getting guns? Nope, I didn't say that. Try again, WITHOUT trying to put words in my mouth. Too bad that in a previous thread "Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban" you stated VERY CLEARLY that you consider accepting the nutter's own word that he or she is not a nutter to be quite acceptable. Well, since you aren't using those magical telepathic powers of yours to tell us who is or isn't a nutter, what else am I to do? Any other stupid arguments? You know perfectly well, you just don't like to admit that you are wrong. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical. -
If the crumple zone of the red car was made of stainless steel and of the blue one was mild steel they certainly WOULD both require crash testing, and it would cost a lot more than $200. Your OP was highly misleading and your poll inappropriate. What part of "the slides are the same material and only the melonite coating is a different color" did you not understand? Well, there seems to be some considerable dispute about that. Why coat a slide to protect against corrosion (per John Rich) if the slide is stainless steel in the first place? Are you now saying ALL the slides are the exact same grade of stainless steel? That isn't what wolfriverjoe or quade said. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

Apparently you need to look up the definition of "typo". That wasn't a typo, it was deliberate and misleading. Thlis id a tpo. I find it very odd that you are so amazingly protective of the very people who have brought the entire world's economy to the worst disaster in 3 generations. Are you saying the dems and Bammer won't make good on their promises? Does it matter whether it's actually spent or just pledged? I guess it depends on what is is. Yes, it matters a lot. "spend" is not the same as "pledge, but "is" is the same as "is". So you were not telling the truth, were you? Tut tut. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

Yes, the toilet cleaner did his job competently and didn't bankrupt AIG, unlike Sullivan and his cronies. Apples to oranges, as you say. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

Perspective is a heck of a thing. According to Executive Paywatch, if you cleaned the toilets at AIG, 40 hours per week at minimum wage,: You would have to work 950 years to equal Martin J. Sullivan's 2007 compensation, using the SEC Total. You would have to work 925 years, according to the AFL-CIO Total. Yes, but Sullivan is an E-X-E-C-U-T-I-V-E so he deserves to make a fortune even when he bankrupts his company. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

Why do you lock your door? You can't keep a criminal out of your house, either. Wendy W. That's right, I can't - a sufficiently motivated person will break in regardless of the type/number of locks I have on my door. For someone that is NOT motivated to break in, or for the law-abiding, the lock is sufficient. Thanks for helping prove my point. No, you just made Wendy's (and my) point. Right now a nutter in the USA who wants a gun doesn't have to be highly motivated in order to get one. If we can make it so only the most highly motivated nutters get guns it will be a big improvement. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical. -

I didn't say Barack...I said congress. They've been doing stupid things for a long time but recently they have managed to trump stupidity and take it too new heights of the absurd. Can you provide a link to a reputable source that this much has been SPENT since Jan 20? I know there's $3.6T in the budget and over $1T in the bailout package, but that's not the same thing as SPENDING it all in 6 weeks. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
