  1. poll: did you make post tandem jump with one instructor or two? I'm in the early stages of training & my last jump was less than perfect. Since I might be making a jump at perris while visiting, I've started looking at other drop zones to see how similar their training programs are to my home dz. I currently jump with one instructor and have since day one (after my tandems) ...but I noticed some schools start students off with two. What are there advantages/disadvantages to each method? which method of training produces best results? I know there's not a wrong or right way, I'm just curious. heidi
  2. yes (about the roaches).x10 also, did they give leno a visit? the other stuff? good to know!!!

(pm'd) i can make the drive from corona del mar to san diego... even lax. but this involves getting off of i5 --- and if i can't see the coast.. then what? obviously, I don’t visit enough. according to a veeerrrrry reliable source (a snapple lid): 75% of people wash from top to bottom in the shower. - lid #325 i never really thought about it (until now). i guess i just assumed everybody started at the top and worked their way down. it only makes sense! but 25% of you are doing it wrong! so...... who is it?? i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  11. hey! i have a few qs for ya...... does this mean you're only open on weekends? every weekend? when do you open? i assume you are open until sundown, correct? (5ish?) just making sure, are you at the new location now? (beltway 8 @ cullen) because somebody else said conroe. well, i mapped the beltway @ cullen and it's not at all where i was picturing in my head. is the star on my map correct? (mapquest isn't always right) also, are tighty whities optional? edit: forgot the map i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  12. going to orlando 1/27-2/1 and need tunnel time badly! i haven't booked yet. i just emailed them but know i wont get an answer until tomorrow.... how far in advance do you have to set a time? thanks soooooooooooo so much, heidi i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  13. Leave us outta this!! hehehe... i'm sorry, it's been 60 or 70 years since it collapsed... ummm, still grieving? it was a big oops! just because the bridge was constructed there doesn't mean the engineers that made the mistake were WA natives. so get over it... it was just faulty design and everybody got away alive
  14. what about the new double decker airbus that is too big/heavy to fly? unless they fixed it... that's a $2billion+ ooopps! and if they did fix it... 850 people on one flight? "we'll be making connections in___ and___ and ___and..." uh, no thanks! heidi edit: p.s. also, tacoma narrows bridge was probably a pretty big oops in it's day! (video here: http://www.civeng.carleton.ca/Exhibits/Tacoma_Narrows/) i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  15. 1. negative attitudes & complainers.... okay, okay, i do have a few.... 1. cloud deck 2. bank statements hitting an all time low 3. being a newbie! heidi i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  16. hey sarah, glad to see you're still jumping b/c the SAME thing happened to me on the same jump (team turns). i lost all stability and started "breakdancing" (his words.. not mine! )... i was able to find the hackey but i was spinning so tight and fast-- i couldn't pull! i was about to go for my reserve when he caught got me at the right angle and pulled. i'm not sure why i didn't just let go/arch and try it again... i just wanted it out! i was supposed to go out the next day for take 2 but didn't... the day after i thought i was up for it, but by the time i got there (i live 90 min away)--- i was too scared and decided i'd have to spend some time in a wind tunnel before getting back out there. how did you get past this level? did any others give you trouble?? i'm worried about barrel rolls... they just sound like something i will mess up. i guess what i'm asking is.. since i'm going to orlando this early in my progression, what other aff levels do students have problems with?.. because that's probably what i need to work on as well! i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  17. yeah, sorry about that. i asked when i was at the dropzone sunday an d they said there isn't a market for it.... houston needs more tourist. the location is perfect though if it ever does go up. i did get an email saying they are shooting to open up in the 4th quarter (this year) but if they haven't even broken ground... well, i'm not holding my breath. sorry for getting everyones hopes up (including my own!) heidi i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  18. wahoo! it's coming next month!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. what if the weatherman could actually predict the weather in advance? we had the prettiest day today--blue skies/sun/no clouds... but wind like you wouldn't believe! i didn't believe it until i got down there... nobody was there 10mph-right!!!! maybe tomorrow i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  20. worrying about your stuff being stolen should be the least of your worries while making a jump... if you don't feel safe at your dz for some reason, ask if they have lockers or something
  21. it's just one of thse things i've always wanted to do ever since i was little. we loved going to air shows w/my dad & my & my friends would make up games that came close (okay, the came nowhere close.. we just climbed trees and jumped). i think the movie chitty chitty bang bang started the flying obsession... then saw fandango about 10 years later and thought it was the best movie EVERRRR. i tried to get a friend to go with me for the longest, but talking about it was a lot easier than actually getting them out there. so, finally i went by myself three months ago (tandem)... quit ballet, then moved onto aff a month later (funds)!!! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062803/ other "hot picks" from when i was a kid: annie - the helicopter part willy wonka - the bubble room/float part i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  22. interesting thread. i never gave it much thought leaving a trail of my stuff everywhere i go (phone, keys, etc). i guess my dz naver gave me a reason to be concerned but yeah, theft can happen anywhere i guess. recently another dz in my state (skydive temple - do a search) was actually broken into & had a ton of gear stolen... so watch that too. i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
