  1. i had a feeling someone would beat me to this. yeah, he's a ladies man too! i couldn't see what happened, did he slip off the strut? did he deploy or was it a premie because whatever was going on with his shoulder? he was such a cute man
  2. whyyyyyyyy the thing is... well, how do you know they are scared? maybe they are just by themselves waiting for the instructor to gear them up? randomly spouting out "it's okay, you'll be alright... really, don't worry! cuz nothings going to happen..." ... that might be why they get worried. it's a reversed psych thing. i like the way spaceland does it. when it comes time for the hop n pops to jump, they open the door (obviously) and people start yelling "no don't jump! we aren't there yet!" (or something like that) its funny and it takes their mind off of their jump (and makes a funny video)
  3. something to look forward to... they will never rush you to the plane on a solo jump (but allow more time to practice your ep's!) i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  4. I know i still have plenty to learn, but let's face it. a first tandem skydive doesn't involve a whole lot of work. (on part of the student.) cross arms, shuffle to door, arch, enjoy the ride!!! i usually talk to them about what to expect on the way down, what it feels like, try to calm em' down, reassure them they'll have a great time, etc. just because i have 3 jumps doesn't mean i have less authority to talk to a new jumper about the experience than a person with 3,000. we were all there at one point and i'm sure we all remember what it felt like.*** ummmmm yes it does. again, you are a new jumper and so am i. i almost didn't respond to this but wth, here's your irony: we aren't in a place to start judging other students. talk is one thing, but experiencing is totally different.... different set of fears at first too! you might not even like skydiving after you do your first solo (i lucked out with my first landing but my second one left me not wanting to drive home--- the whole sitting down thing!). you're lucky cuz you live in a state with a million dropzones open 7 days a week! with miami weather, you'll probably pass me up. i'm jealous

  8. hehehe!!! hey russell, great pic!
  9. yes... that guy is a disaster! he was clearly fighting the instructors hand away from the pc while reaching for the cutaway pillow. he had just been through a class with hanging harnesses and everything... but you wouldn't know it by his jackass interview. "there can be tangles but i don't think they ever trained me what to do if the chute just disappeared" c'mooooooonnnn!!!!!!!! how he managed to hit the powerlines is beyond me... i'm surprised the videographer could see that far. if he sued, it sounds like he just wanted a way to pay off law school. wait, how the hell did he pass the bar!? i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  10. "no one forces these asshats to post. but either way we end up reading it. it's just silly to allow blatant mindless material that will definitely be upsetting to be posted and then get mad when someone replies aggresively. stop the trollers, stop the personal attacks. not so hard to understand. " ok, i just quoted the man of the hour, reincarnated superman eddie whatever-his-name-is. the thread that started this mess was his topic.... about trolls!!!!! does anyone else find this odd? p.s. eddie- check and see if this sounds familiar to all your bs: click me superboy i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
  11. i agree. she might need a little time to come up with it being an unemployed student... but there are still ways of setting aside $ (plus selling back books should make a nice chunk, depending on her major--wahoo!) but.... whhhhhhy did she hide it? seems a little immature to me, but we all make mistakes
  12. same here. mine isn't up to date because i'm waiting til i jump again so i can see what its like to skip a few numbers! plus, i won't feel like a double digit++ jumper til i'm off student status (or atleast past aff) so yeah... i update on the zero.... and ten it is! i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce

  24. she is NOT asking you to quit the sport. she asked "if you KNEW you would go in ON YOUR NEXT JUMP" (which would classify as suicide btw)... its alarming how many answered yes.. i'm a little confused why too! i just don't understand why anyone would give up the rest of your life for a few minutes of fun. yeah, we all have to die sometime, but knowing and not knowing when are totally different. also, the driving vs skydiving analogy is over used and inaccurate. yeah, this is just a students opinion.. but c'mmmmon! how much time do you spend in the car? probably more time than you spend in the air, right? plus: driving - huge steel structure with air bags to protect you. skydiving - nylon. does that keep me away from the dz? nooooooo... but it does make me more cautious. odd topic, but interesting thread nonetheless. i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
