I've decided to leave your wonderful world of skydiving...

There's always paragliding! -
Sorry, I guess I fail on the age requirement, but I feel obliged to point out there's a lot more to people than your shortlist.

Very cool video of a bag lock. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3811 Interesting that in this case it seemed to stand the jumper up briefly but he got rotated onto his back. Just shows that shit happens, and armchair theory doesn't always cover every scenario.

What does it pay? That's the central issue, not willingness. Menial jobs would have to pay a salary to attract people to fit the position. Arguments like the one you presented are specious. Besides, all Americans have a toilet in their home and most of them seem to get cleaned regularly. BTW I do have a "green card" and if you demand to see it you'll get laughed at. like most others I was working in the USA legally for years without a "green card". A question like the one starting this discussion just illustrates how supremely unqualified people are to go around starting this particular fight with strangers. You should realize that most immigrants know a heck of a lot more about immigration to the USA than even your better informed Americans.

only 50 dead from Chernobyl: hype by activists

Do you realize that produce farmed in large regions of the UK cannot be eaten decades later? Hey it's only thyroid cancer.... -
Are we there yet?

The restriction of airspace around a travelling president is not something Bush started. Typical reaction, you may know that I'm not anti-Bush or left leaning although he's been spectacularly unimpressive recently. This is a great example of how a practical discussion in America about anything related to politics even when it's so bloody obvious it's painful usually degenerates into some kindergarten level purile debate. "Well he didn't start it." What the FUCK does that have to do with the fact that some asshole arriving in town grounds everyone for miles? The President in not fucking King or the second comming, he's a man, a frigging public servant and he has the authority to stop this. Any asshole in that office who does this should be ashamed, I don't care who started this bullshit, he's the guy flying in & grounding everyone else as a PRECAUTION to protect his powder puff Presidential ass from remote risks that it doesn't even mitigate well. Have the sense to say no to this bullshit.

I didn't miss anything, you can't have it both ways, the left including John are regularly saying how he does it better than the real News hinting at their own agenda, then use the gutless cop-out that he's only a comedian when the claim is criticized. Most notably when John did it himself on hardball, he should have been torn a new one on there but he got away with it, again. If you want to make the claim then don't whine when you're called on it.

Not for the squeamish: http://www.zimmermanjfk.com/frontmenu_000010.htm Get over it. Edited for clicky.

I jumped with a rather good paragliding helmet, it had way more protection than a skydiving helmet and was smaller & lighter than say a motorcycle helmet, but ultimately gave up on the idea. The fullface chin was too long and the lack of suitable neck & visor seal & its shape undermined my objectives. In the end I didn't modify it. I think most skydiving helmets are expensive and lack significant protection (IMHO), but there's just enough about their design to make them worth getting that you wind up bying one to jump with anyway. If you come up with an alternative lemmie know. If you want something cheap get a protec while you wait on your full face jump numbers if that's what you're after.

Bwahahaha! John Stuart doesn't even give you the straight version of the facts he does present never mind all the facts. Liberal's capacity to listen to this guy and think they're getting genuine insight is astounding. I guess if it makes you feel good then some smirking twit reinforcing your groupthink and presenting edited charicatures and revisionist history is appealing as news. The sad part is I used to think the guy was funny, now it's like listening to a broken record, telling the same joke over and over, he's polluted his own show to pander to one segment of his audience. And what happened to Lewis Black? OK, that guy was rabidly anti-Bush but he was the funniest guy on the show and often insightful with it. (I'm guessing he had a nervous breakdown

The issue is the elitism of one guy in appointed office. Who the fuck said it was OK to do this? Him and his SS minders. Well it's just NOT OK. The inconvenience of routinely denying access to normal aeronautical activities for thousands of citizens as a PRECAUTION for one scared man is NOT OK, even if he does hold an important office. And if he's not totally gutless he should keep his SS minders in check. This isn't just about fun jumpers losing some jumps, it's denied transportation to thousands and it's lost earnings for everyone who works to make our sport possible on a peak day where they might actually make money instead of losing it. The excuse of threats doesn't cut it. This is remote contingency planning with a real impact on people's lives and a NOTAM doesn't physically stop a real attacker flying. It's bullshit at it's purest and they get away with it because someone gave them an office and the authority to abuse it.
-
It is definitely a pain in the ass when they roll the President's candy ass into town and ground everyone else. Even my local Paragliding site closes when the big guy is in town. This caution thing is taken way too far, if you don't have the balls to be the president and fly in without grounding EVERYONE then don't run for the fucking office. Sometimes the Secret Service needs to be kept in check by their boss IMHO. Stick Cheney in an "undisclosed location" STFU and fly in, no bullshit NOTAMs.
-
That's maybe why only one got close to target, the others were off, even the one in the neck was quite a miss.
-
And let's quote from my first post in the thread: "Nobody wants to believe that some cracker like him can kill a president because he wanted to." Therein lies the reasons for other theories. It just doesn't seem right. The problem is, it was done. Yup, I saw an excellent documentary on Oswald's life & movements around the time of and on the day of the assasination, it totally refuted some of the well used 'facts' presented by the conspiracy theorists. It even covered some background on Ruby. Combine that with the fact that random shit just happens and you have a pretty solid case. The same phenomenon is at work on the 9/11 attacks now, any polished turd is used in substitution for solid evidence and analysis so that the flimsiest of conspiracy theories can be supported. P.S. 28%? Sigh! Explains a lot though.

So letting him run around with a gun and a badge is a good idea? Giving him anything sharper than a crayon might represent a risk to public safety.
-
First it was the Star Wars kid, now it's this shmuck. Public embarassment ain't enough he wants to compound it with notoriety and a bit more publicity, for a pay day of course. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0411061foot1.html I guess when you prove you're a shmuck everyone is obliged to keep the secret these days.

I'm thinking you weren't actually aiming for hillarious when you wrote this.

Just curious; why is "abovetopsecret.com" any more believeable than the original post? That's just not my position at all, I'll judge the content not the domain name thanks. The domain has all sorts of crap on there, so what.

Landings freak you out, you don't know if you flared, you landed on your arse and not your legs. All this is worrying, whatever you do don't downsize without advice and approval from instructors. Do you practice under canopy when you're flying at altitude to feel how the wing flies and responds to flare? You definitely want to be doing this, and maybe look left or right to get a feel for your pitch angle (not during a real landing just at altitude). You're on rental gear, maybe you should try to jump the same canopy every jump. Get advice on flare timing from your instructor (there are simple ways to get better visual cues) and save up for a canopy control course. You only have one spine. On something that big you should be OK if you flare *slightly* high, hold it in brakes and PLF (probably could stand it up), you'd at least have better landings than not flaring at all, but discuss all this with your instructors. There are dangers like increased risk of stalling or surging into the ground if you let up on the toggles. You could always take a tandem ride or two with a TI and take the toggles with them, just to get advice on height and have someone there with you to calm you and remind you where you should be looking when you flare. A couple of tandems back to back then a solo might be just what you need, ask for a discount if you're doing all that + gear rental .

Less than we spew skydiving, not even counting all the hot air in SC. But there are 32,000 of us in the US alone. Each skydiver's share is pretty small. Your share is proportionate to the rides to altitude you take and I'd bet that skidivers convert more than the average share of fossil fuels to CO2. I'd be more than happy if POTUS kicked all the freeloading self-important correspondants of AF1 and travelled in something more economical, but it wouldn't be worth the squeals of blue murder I'd have to tollerate from you & others here in SC.

Remember the NASA Scientist is being Censored Story?

Exactly. The sheer irrationality of the latest stunt; running to the media and saying you're not being allowed to talk to the media, never seemed to give anyone on the left pause for thought.
