  1. There were a few skygods in TEXAS during the 70's!
  2. As a matter of fact I did win! But, I lost, 4 months of great jumping weather.
  3. That is correct Dave. I did 'hook' turn a PC way too low to do a 180 into the wind, severe case of rectalouculitis. But, the PC did not kill me (nor did I kill myself). Round canopies were much more forgiving-to stupidness-than squares. I goofed and got 12 weeks of wearing a plaster jump boot. I learned my lesson.
  4. That's what we did in the "Old Days". Put out a S/L student on the first load of the day, see where he landed, and adjust the spot as needed.
  5. Post first jumps were a lot less expensive, in the S/L days.
  6. Could not say--only reserve rides were 26' navy conical that ossilated like crazy the first time I used it. Installed a 4-line release and it flew nice, no swinging around (like the first ride) and steered it to a stand up landing on a front lawn in the middle of a housing project.
  7. What type of hold open latch/system are you using?
  8. I don't remember any more ossliation than a para-commander.
  9. Very fast opening and reliable canopy. Great for low pull contests! One word of caution--spot 100 yards upwind of where you want to land.
  10. I made 5 jumps there in Sept. 1972. The Ft. Hood club hosted the USPA conference meet for the classic events and 4 man RW and ten man speed stars. Great chance for us civiilians to jump choppers!
  11. The good old days! Beautiful-thanks Carl.
  12. Not this time (visit). She was on a charter flight out of Fort Worth with about a dozen passangers. The owner stated that she does still haul jumpers! Makes a few boogies if you've got the $.!!!!
  13. We had a surprise visitor @ Texas FreeFall in Stephenville yesterday!
  14. I'll bet Todd is just saving it for when he re-opens a DZ! LOL

  17. He is correct-NEW Chutes cost over $2.00!
  18. Most of us (on this site) do not think it is a joke. Also, we are not ashamed to list our names and information.
  19. Just a couple of "OL'e Farts" and what used to be a young 'pup'! LOL
  20. You mean one like this: Mk1 PC short lined 44", 1974, Galveston Sky Divers, Hitchcock, Tx.
  21. Doll--This is the photo that John mentioned: Gus was my mentor during my studies at the Chiropractic college in Pasadena, and at the drop zone.
