IMHO if the knife hasn't got two blades then it aint worth shit. There are some single blade knives that seem to work okay most of the time yet most of the knives supplied with new rigs are complete CRAP! My advice FWIW would be to get yourself a a sample of different lines (Dacron/Spectra etc) and test the knives. I have found that twin blades like the Jack the Ripper (ParaGear do a little brother of it as well) work easily every time and without any effort, while others take a sawing motion to get through. Remember the Golden Rule is "If you carry a knife you will never need it. If you don't carry one.............. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Its a good argument for a Cypres/Vigil/Astra etc if your concerned about the swaged ball coming off. I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I have had my Vision 117 WL ~1.8 since Equinox 04. Put around 600 jumps on it. Great canopy for its class. Difficult for me to compare to Stilleto / Crossfire / Katana as I have never jumped any of those in a similar size. I certainly moved faster under the katana 97 The new Vision's feel as if they are trimmed slightly differently and give a smoother ride but I used to get more swoop out of my older Vision. My only regret is that I ordered my new canopies just before Aerodyne brought out the Mambe I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Thanks for the info. I have F-111 pilot chutes, personally not being a fan of ZP for that job, but thats 6 of one and half a dozen of the other kind of argument. I can see your point with the handle but have yet (knock on wood) to have that issue even when having a 'bump' on a hard dock or similar. Will certainly keep it in mind. Yet other riggers will tell you how great they are and how easy they are to work with, I certainly do. Could you name some of the reasons that they are so 'disfavoured'? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Not sure I follow you as to the problem with the Spandex BOC. I have to Wings, one has the cordura BOC and the other has the Spandex BOC. I have never had an issue with the spandex. You state there was a flap to tuck your handle into. Was that too loose? that could be a cause but I fail to see how the differing puch could affect or cause a premeture. Curious I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

depends on what you like. Some prefer the grip on a hackey, others prefer the 'security' of a pud. I found the first couple of jumps to feel odd when pitching with the change of grip but I wouldn't change back to a hackey....period. try and jump one before you order, on the other hand if you get the pud and then find that you don't like it its not expensive to change. Good luck and enjoy your Wings I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

sure, but all it takes is attaching the Kill-Line to the retainer just above the loop. I agree that is the easiest method. In reply to tdog could this method be 'just another failure point'?? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

When you get it off try replacing it with a Slink. Much more friendly to your gear and you I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Used DAA questions (Cypres VS Cypres-2 VS Vigil)
koppel replied to mstlaurent's topic in Gear and Rigging
No scheduled maintenance on a Vigil. Hmmm. so your getting ready for the first load of the day on your favorite weekend of the year, all your mates are going jumping and your Vigil says I need to go back to the factory. While still a possibility with a Cypres (1 or 2 ) IMO less likely due to the servicing. Do you only take your car / bike / AIRPLANE ?! for a service when their is a problem or do you take preventative measures. Do you only replace a line on your parachute when it breaks or do you change the line set after a certain number of jumps. Simple thoughts by simple me I like my canopy... ...it lets me down. -
a problem that is rectified on the new Wings risers, but is easily rectified by your friendly Rigger Have you tried talking to Anike at Wings. I have seen a few rigs that have had issues like this over time, from top name brands as well. I had mine shipped form Australia to the factory and back in 11 days. Best Customer Service Ever!! It does take a little practice in putting the bag in to get a good snug fit. What size rig / main combo do you have? As for Micron or Wings well - bliston got it right - Jump them first! enjoy whichever one you get I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Why the restriction on B-Rels before jumping personal gear? I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I was packing a Talon at the weekend with a 2-pin in it. The owner was with me and during the course of packing we discussed how the Cypres worked as I was feeding the loop through the cutter. Interesting comment from him was "..how long before we need an electronic eye on the cutter to ensure the loop is properly located?" If I ever get that bit worng would someone please buy me a membership to the local golf club I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Easy, just cut the lines off I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I learnt my reserve rating from a Racer dealer and find that they take no longer to do than any other rig and in some ways are easier. The adjustable loops makes closing a dream. The extra couple of preperation steps are just a matter of practice. any rigger who has trouble with them shoud RTFM I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

So what happens to a bungee kill line when it goes out of 'calibration' ? It stretches. Does this impede the opening? Of course not. What happens to a 'Kill-Line' that is worn? It shrinks. Does this impede the opening? Possibly. If you have a bungee pilot-chute please see your rigger for replacement bungee. People have been known to make them to short causing MASSIVE pilotchute hesitation or no main-pin extraction I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

You aint wrong there buddy. I live in Australia and have just bought my 3rd Wings. Had a couple of little issues with the first two (they were brought at the same time) As a working skydiver being without my rigs means no income or borrowed gear Not only did Ankie organise to cover the cost of posting them back to Sunrise for the repairs she had me back in the air in 11 days flat!!! Not sure of the history of your canopy but try checking the trim against this chart or see you local rigger who can help you with it. I had a canopy that was out of trim and I left it alone for a while, it got worse and then it got line twist and then it got cut-away worth keeping an eye on these things I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

I heard from someone at Aerodyne that once the Mamba was established that was on their 'to-do' list. I asked for number 1 when they do. Then again I asked Santa for a lot of things that never showed up I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

On our DZ we have had 3 occassions where L&B have replaced a Dytter or Pro-Track. 1 riser strike where the appropriate mount and bands had been used (great footage of line twist on opening and a little black box head north real quick ) and 2 cases of faulty screens. On each occassion one email to mads@l-and-b.dk got a quick reply and a positive outcome. Great Service, Great Company I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.

Interesting thing about the 6 month cycle that everyone wants to lengthen.... A friend of mine came back from a competion that was held on a beach recently. He said he ahd about a cup and a half of sand in his reserve tray when he repacked it. Also in the hard housings there was more gunk (shit) than usual. I wonder how many of us would like to have that much crap in our reserves for 12 months rubbing into the lines and canopy whilst it tries to worm its way into the AAD as well? In principal I like the idea of a longer cycle but on the down side..... I like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
