gee... all that for that I was waiting in anticipation for about 15 minutes....

I'd become a lesbian to be with Angelina Jolie. I think she is so sensual and beautiful. And funky-ass cool. The rest are so ordinary and/or annoying.

The pentagon is a building. I suspect the political and personal range of the individuals on staff at the Pentagon is as diverse as any other organization with thousands of people. Why I bet some of these people actually have kids and eat regular food in between stealing beans from bums and throwing expensive parties for the express purpose of making champagne toasts "Gentlemen, to Evil" (Simpson's Quote). Depersonalizing organizations as "the pentagon", "the military at the top", "the government" is an easy way to get sympathy from the ignorant for a discussion. Do you do the same thing with "the Blacks", "the Chinese", "Joe Sixpack", "wing suit flyers", "Democrats", "Republicans"? But of course we don't hate the people, just the buildings. I agree with you. And don't forget but many people at the Pentagon ARE our military. Many of them may be working in a building for now but they have plenty of close friends/colleagues who are overseas. And they too have experienced warfare/conflict.

if you want warmth, head to South Beach Miami -- i really loved it when i went. So much fun, the beaches are beautiful and the water so warm. And being in NYC -- I recommend it when its a bit warmer -- i.e. spring is great.

I pretty much know when someone I know well (like my boyfriend) is lying because I have pretty good gut instincts. But i usually don't say anything and figure I will pick my moment to either confront that person or just let it pass. I just don't understand people that lie so consistently. I think its such the sign of weakness and lack of character. I know people that lie because they say they don't want to hurt the other person, but I think they really lie because its easier on their OWN conscience. It takes a strong individual to tell the truth when they know its going to hurt another person but its selfish to not tell that person because they deserve the truth. I know someone who has lied so often to me that i think he BELIEVES his own lies. Like others said, lying breaks trust, and trust is SOOO hard to build back up.

Sadly, no one will see the final bill language until after the voted on it... unfortunately that seems to happen more and more as they can waive parliamentary rules to pass it. And then they will spend months trying to figure out the ramifications. I think so much of this is political regardless, at this point. But they have reached an agreement now.

Christmas Shopping...what to buy the person who has everything?
complexity replied to mouth's topic in The Bonfire
Bake them something? Sometimes the thought you put into something is worth it -- and they can eat it -
I am sorry That happened to me when I went the first time - it rains 16 inches a year, and of course when I went it rained all day in Sedona! Its sunny and crisp here in NY. Pretty day though.

Growing up, I somehow missed the "hip" music because my parents were soooo not hip and instead now have a love for old 50's music and Broadway tunes. It just brings back such pleasant youthful memories of my father and mother dancing in the living room to it.

Most of those sodomy/sex laws have been on the books for years... probably from the PUritan days of our country.... they should be removed (as should so many laws...) but then again, why give The conservative right another reason to bang their bibles? I think that there is a much bigger problem that should be addressed and that is that increasingly people in this country are legislative happy. People seem to think that if you pass a law, then they fix the problem. There are SOOOOO many laws that have been passed by the states and the federal government over the years and so many regulations but there is a real lack of enforcement of most laws. And then there are laws passed that further complicate the laws already on the books, which then further involves judicial activism. At some point, people need to understand that laws don't necessarily fix all the problems. (as well as government).

Is it me or does the picture of the server sort of look like Prince William??

i would have to agree with you on Steak and Shake as the best damn burgers in the world! And damn, those fries!

I agree with you that its inappropriate. People cutting their nails in public gives me the chills and I think its disgusting! It should only be done in the bathroom. Ewwww. My old college roommate used to clip her nails in the hall and leave her leftovers -- it was gross.

Have you gotten rid of your land phone line?
complexity replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
i didn't have a land line for about a year but then I got it again a few months ago because I wanted to get DSL and got it through my phone company. I also thought it might be nice to get it again because sometimes I get tired of holding the cell phone to my head as its not as comfortable as my landline phone. Plus I tend to forget to charge my cell phone. However I have to say that I may soon change to cable for my computer and my phone and eliminate my phone service as I am spending too much unnecessarily. What is the typical cost if have it all through the cable company?? Do folks like it?? -
I got one as a gift in 1989 from my boyfriend in college. I tried to grow the grass on his body and it came in all lopsided. I LOVED those commercials. God I miss the 80's

The movie Neverland is wonderful... it truly is a magical and touching movie -- lets you get back to your inner child and imagination. ITs gotten great reviews and truly enthralling. Plus Johnny Depp is just the hottest, sexiest man alive (even in this period piece movie) Although I hear the Incredibles is HILARIOUS.

i am not quite sure why I am playing devil's advocate here, but i just thought I would provide the listing of the nutritional content of McDonald's foods. Yes, most of it is horribly disgusting and fattening, but there are options provided -- like a bagel, english muffin, grilled chicken salad with low-fat, Paul Newman's dressing. And yes, its MUCH better that we eat healthier foods and not use all these preservatives and fat, but there are some options when there is nothing else available... http://www.mcdonalds.com/usa/eat/nutrition_info.html

It sure can. Bring a healthy meal with you and eat it. There's a lot more to keeping trim than that. That meal will not fuel the body to excersize. You need a much better meal to fuel the body to work off the other crap you ate in the first place. Athletes don't build up their bodies on fast food. There's no way to get enough quality nutritious food into you to sustain a hard work out. reply] I wasn't trying to say that i don't think fast food is bad for you -- I know that most of it is. But just that eating it once in awhile doesn't kill you. I mean, sometimes eating McD's french fries just hits the spot. And Of course athletes shouldn't eat fast food for nutrition/training. I have never thought McDonald's is where I should take my kids (not that I have any) for their "3 square meals". Anyway, i just don't think you can blame the fast food industry for decisions that each of us as individuals make. Even as a child I knew how bad fast food was.

You CAN eat healthy at McDonald's -- but sometimes, why? Some days there is NOTHING better than a burger and fries... YUM. You just don't eat it every day. I don't think its "new" news that fast food is bad for you. And if you have a huge greasy meal, well, you go excercise it off. Its seems pretty simple to me. And while it is probably better to have a healthy cooked meal, you CAN eat relatively healthy at fast food places -- McDonald's has their salads that are low in fat and light dressing. Also Wendy's has their chili and baked potatos... it can be done.

How many drinks until you're guaranteed a hangover??
complexity replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
I get nasty hangovers when i mix all different kinds of drinks - like starting with wine, going to beer and then some mixed drinks and shots. Gets kind of scary. -
