  1. You note that the listings here aren't up to date but yet you want the mods to do a database search? That list would only be as good as the data that's in here. If you want the most accurate information, contact the DZ in advance. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 2. “Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.” ------------------------------------------------------ I agree completely with what you are saying. My neice just turned 22. She has never had a job in her life and she married a man in the army...probably to get pregnant and so she could use that as a reason NOT to work. This is my neice. I know her tendencies. I also have seen so many times in the past when she would call her mom a bitch and I would get yelled at for wanting to smack the shit out of her because she has little respect for her mother. If that was my parents I would have received a hand to the face more than once...and did. Now we have to coddle these little fuckers because spanking kids in public will get CPS up your ass in a heartbeat. It's not me. It's Socrates. You know, the old dude in the Bill & Ted movie? 3. Careful, don't you want to make sure the veil on your thinly-veiled racism stays in place? Or you just wanna come out and say that it's the retards and the coloreds that are causing all the problems? "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Beakfast!

For me, breakfast always has protein (meat & eggs) and often has veggies - I make scrambles with homemade pork sausage, tons of veggies, and eggs - it's a way for me to get more veggies in my day. I'll often have a bit of fruit, too. No bread/bagels/muffins/croissants or anything of the like (at least not on an ordinary day - the very occasional - like twice a year - indulgence is different). No cereal. Preferably nothing processed. Bleh. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 7. I'd recommend Bay Area Skydiving in Byron or Skydance Skydiving in Davis, CA. As for gear, chill out till you get farther along in your student progression. All the gear you need as a student will be provided for you, and will be appropriate for your skill and experience as a student. As you progress, you'll learn about gear and be able to make more informed purchasing decisions at the right time. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 12. I've always heard 10, so I think you're safe (although how long has it been since your last jump - you might be heading into retroactive whuffo territory again ) August 2014 till I'm no longer a tourist. There's retroactive wuffo status? Sure, it's just like retroactive virginity when you don't get any in a while. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. 14. Get back to me in 30 years on that! A few years after I graduated, I was at an event with the director of admissions from my graduate program. I asked her "Do you ever go back and look at the application essays where people said what they wanted to do with their degree and see how far off most of them are?" She chuckled and said that would be a fun exercise if she had time. Likewise, I'd love to go through these forums and find all the new(er) jumpers who've said "I'll never ever ever stop" who have sold their gear and moved on in life (not that there's anything wrong with that, I just laugh when I see those pronouncements (and hell, I'm still a tourist and I've already seen tons come and go!). 15. Some of the FL DZs might also rival the AZ/CA ones in the fall/winter/spring (and be just as empty in the summer... FL humidity... yuck!) 17. I have a couple things I needed to take to the cleaners (fortunately neither had _____ on them) and was looking at reviews for local dry cleaners and came across this one. The question is, what is ________? I have some theories, of course. http://www.yelp.com/biz/georges-laundry-and-dry-cleaners-oakland#hrid:rGM8jJEVnR7iGLF3H7YhVw "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. CUBA

Yeah, I went from Toronto to Atlanta for a Farm visit several years back and picked up some Cubans to bring with me for the locals. You clear US Customs before you even leave Toronto - had 'em in my carry-on, no hassles whatsoever. Of course, that goes for just about anything - most times you'll get waved on through, but you're always taking a risk if you're bringing prohibited items or more than what you're allowed to bring in duty-free. 19. On the other hand, the kid might have a future as a lawyer if he's this argumentative and adept at parsing language at 17. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  20. You're probably right that there is not a law in any state that explicitly makes it illegal to make a skydive if you are under the age of 18. But I also don't think anyone was trying to argue that. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  21. You know, I've never heard of that as a tradition (though I think it's an awesome one). Is that a Canuckian thing? Because, come to think of it, the lovely bottle of champagne that I got after my 1000th *was* provided to me by Canucks.
  22. Pops is correct. In the US, the age limits would be governed by state laws, not federal. actually (not trying to sound like a smartass) there are not state laws governing it. All age limits are USPA "recommendation." It is enforced by the fact that USPA drop zones can get shut down by USPA or lose sponsorship. That is why I was able to do my tandem at age 6 and start AFF at 12. All recommendation no laws :) Well, really it's about the state laws regarding what kinds of rights parents.guardians can and cannot sign away for their minor children - not specific to skydiving, of course, but skydiving waivers fall under that umbrella. There's been a million threads about skydiving in the US under the age of 18, which have debated this issue ad nauseum. What it comes down to is that most dropzones these days have decided it's just not worth taking the additional potential legal risk of allowing a minor to skydive. (BTW, the person you're contradicting is a lawyer, so I'd trust what he has to say on this topic) "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  23. 100 was a 4-way horny gorilla (with a couple other people chasing the formation). It was a shit show but a lot of fun. I recently did #1000, which was also a 4-way ... with the reigning world champs. It was very far from a shit show but a lot of fun.
  24. Shouldn't you make the first jump before you think about giving the sport up? "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
  25. Imma go with 108, because that's what the article said, and I wasn't overseeing each and every one of those 4,086 drug tests. But you go on believing there's a huge problem that, so far, hasn't been shown by the publicly-available evidence. Or show me some actual numbers to back up your side. I'm all ears (or eyes, I guess, this being a forum). "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
