- stay alive - learn as much as I can about 4-way and being a good teammate both on the ground and in the air. - do as much as I can to help my team grow - put continuous effort to stay in a good physical and mental shape, and improve my individual flying and canopy piloting skills. - have a lot of fun - start looking for independent job by the end of next year so in future I will have more time and money to work even more on all stated above.

Thanks everyone for the input, I PM'd this person and he fixed the problem. Apparently it was a mistake.

Good call. I posted here w/o names and details because I did not know what would be the right thing to do.
-
I will do that in a littlebit

I don't think not paying is a good idea.

Oh I am not complaining about the site. The site is great (otherwise I wouldn't be paying for membership). I posted this because I personally saw that thing. When I laid it down side by side with a similar piece if gear with known number of jumps (>700) that thing looked older. OK, it could be my wrong impression by I was told it has 500 jumps on it. Now it has less. Did it get newer after several months?

I have an interesting observation from dz.com used gear classifields. Several months ago, I was looking for a used piece of skydiving equipment. When I contacted a seller regarding one deal I was after, I was told that the item is in excellent shape and has about 500 jumps on it. When the package arrived, I looked at the item and decided not to buy it for two reasons. The first and the main reason was sizing, which is nobody’s fault – happens all the time when fishing for used gear. The second reason - the item in question looked like it had more wear than my older item (same manufacturer) that had more than 700 jumps on it by that time. Not a big deal, I returned the item in question to a seller without any hard feelings. Recently, to my great surprise I saw that the same item is posted again by the same person, but now it has 350 jumps on it. I am not going to post the names because there is a chance that this situation is simply a result of unfortunate mistake or confusion. However, I do believe that the confusion needs to be fixed. Any input?

Could not agree more with you and Ron. Thanks for clarification. So the bottom line is: Advantages of little technical details how to spin the block on the hill will not be obvious until the exits are very consistent and therefore the delays between the exit and first key/first point are minimized. The main challenge of the long page is “brain work” – more visual references. For most people keeping the mental part of the game as simple as possible will probably be the most effective strategy for perfecting individual techniques as well as team rhythm. Would you agree?
-
Thank you all for your input. I had a feeling that keeping it simple would be more rewarding and now this feeling is reinforced. Ron, I have to admit that I completely agree with everything you just said Oh wait, this is not a speakers corner ... Thanks God

Absolutely!

I have a question about engineering for intermediate teams. Intermediate pool contains blocks that seem to work better when mirror images are used. Example: Block 1 on terminal and exit. In most cases Pt and Tail need to do a lot of "flying around" to get the cat grips straight and spin the block contr-clockwise. Spinning the block clockwise seems to be easier but results in mirror image picture for Pt and Tail. There are also 6 and 21. Airspeed exits them as mirrors, apparently to avoid the situation when front piece needs to move uphill. So my question is how many intermediate teams use the mirror images? Also, it would be interesting to know what more advanced people think about an idea of using mirros by intermediate teams. It seems to me that using the mirrors by intermediate teams can potentially be rewarding, especially when the next goal in moving up to advanced class. On the other hand, I am not sure it is a good idea to try mirrors for a team that still needs to learn a lot about the basics and plans to make 150 training jumps. Thanks in advance for your input Anton

Realistic Costs to get into the sport?
AMax replied to alphawolf's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Agree. It is better to jump without one than to buy an AAD and then end up making 20 jumps a year because you run out of money. The same applies to rigs in general. My first instructor said it is better to be current than jump a shiny gear. There is a limit, of course, and I would not suggest to buy a rig that is unsafe to jump. -
Ron, It is tricky. I don't want to make any strong predictions what I would do or would not do because I am now sitting in my office far away from the action. I know for sure that if someone from my platoon did it, I would not think of him as a criminal and would never report him. I do believe however that his decision was wrong, otherwise we would not be talking about it. pajarito, amen
-
Completely agree. My point was that he did not kill him in action by mistake. Apparently he had time to make a decision and his decision was bad.
-
Completely disagree. He made a wrong desision taking a human life in no-combat situation.
-
Amen I still need to fix #4, but I completely agree with all 5 points

Cayce, If you seriously get into jumping, there is a good chance that you will eventually stop talking about it to whuffos. There is huge gap between those who made at least one jump and those who have never done it. This gap will be getting bigger as you make more and more jumps. Most of us probably felt like heroes after a few first skydives and most of us tried to tell the whole world about it. The whole world however is only interested in how high you go, how fast you fall and what happens if you parachute does not open. Just imaging answering the same damn questions over and over again.

LOL Ron ... I know several ladies who were kinda turned on this thing. The problem is that their interest goes down when they realize that you are not particularly interested in partying late in town on Friday nights and spend too much time at DZ jumping out of planes instead of entertaining them on weekends ... I worried about you when saw a couple of people out on sunset load. Did you get in? (j/k)

Thanks for clarification, I am not concerned about loosing the information since I keep track of all training jumps in separate excel database plus all these jumps are on video.
-
So lets say I logged and signed my first 500 jumps and then continued to log the jumps without signing them. It there a possibility for a problem if I decide to get my AFF rating a couple of years from now? Also, is it a bad habbit to log team jumps as a bunch? For example simething like: Oct. 15-16, Skydive Dallas, Twin Otter, training camp #4, jumps 550-565, Exit alt ~ 13.5 ?
