  1. In 1901 a doctor did experiments to determine the weight of a soul. He put dying patients on a bed with scales. By carefully observing the moment of death, and the scales, he determined that a soul weighs 21 grams. This is similar in a very different way. Either way, a pile of shit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duncan_MacDougall_%28doctor%29 Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  2. The crapometer. Nice job...,err good work. Could make piles, of cash. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  3. I'm far from knowledgeable about this. But I believe the constitution says very little about how the vote is conducted. It's largely a State matter. The state you live in decides the rules you get to vote under. Partys are favoured by the rules. Why? Because they wrote the rules. 4. That the skydiving subculture in America is largely white, male, and lower middle class. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Come now, it's a Time Magazine story. How can anyone claim NSFW? It's just research! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  8. Compared to Americans? I know you've traveled your country. I'm not sure how you can say that with a straight face! (But then again, I can't see your face.) Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

  10. No surprise there. He pretty much lets it be known that he hates New York. I think the feeling is mutual. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  11. History clearly shows that unless their leaders believe it will be easy, the USA is the last nation into the fight. They have always had a strong isolationist streak. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  12. It was always designed to fail. Single Payer System is what they have always been striving for. I don't believe it was by design. It was the result of compromise and practicing the art of the possible. But yes, it is destined to fail in it's present form. 13. The point is that universal healthcare is within the grasp of the US. You lack only the political will to enact it. It is one of the weaknesses of the US, and unnecessary. Healthcare makes a nation stronger, not weaker. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  14. Universal health care is a fact, not a pipe dream, in every western democracy but one. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  15. I've come to the conclusion that making linesets is specialized work requiring knowledge, skills and tools not usually found in the field. It can be done, but unless you are planning to go into producing them for sale, it's not worth the effort. The people I know that do make them take the measurements off of any brand new canopies that pass through their hands. They carefully record and file the information. Manufacturers do not share the info needed to make a correct lineset. You may decide to do it anyway, as a personal experience. But if you sell any of the resulting canopies do be honest with the buyers about the nature of the lines. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 16. ......but that was the funny part! Comedians get away with far worse than that. But I guess it's not primarily a humour forum. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  17. His POV is valid. That's one way to approach the issue. I found it both potentially helpful, to the point, and humourous all at the same time. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  18. Sure, lots of stronger economies they can choose from. Euros, yea Euros buy some of them. And Renminbi, maybe some Rubles and Pesos and Pounds. That'll learn them darn Yanks. Allahu akbar. Saudi is the evil empire. Fuck them. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  19. Funny story that. But never, ever confuse an internet poll for democracy. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  20. Yep, that's the way conservatism works. When coal seams dry up entire towns and communities can be plunged into poverty. Right wing response to all the unemployed miners? Dole taking freeloaders, fuck 'em! No, conservatives tell them all to move to Williston, ND where the oil boom jobs are. Until the bust, then it's fuck the freeloaders! 22. Coal companies don't "give jobs to people". They produce coal to sell at a profit for their owners. Jobs are just an expense to keep as low as possible. Just like safety standards. The fewer the better. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  23. Cut and pasted from the sticky post at the top of the forum. There has been a recent spike in advertisements (mostly people looking to buy) in this forum. 24. I don't have strong opinions one way or the other. I would like to note that the TX case you compare it to is not really relevant to the CA case at hand. Other than it points out the rather capricious nature of the death penalty in the US. You can certainly make arguments both for and against the death penalty. But you can not claim it is applied in a fair and consistent way. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
