Pros and cons of different types of reserve ripcords
gowlerk replied to Baksteen's topic in Gear and Rigging
I typed before thinking that one through. Not thinking of all the possibilities is the main problem with modifying gear. But yes, you will need the big housing to push the spectra ripcord through as well. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -

When you change that pin don't forget to add the much larger diameter housing to allow for it. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
What safety item is most important or most often neglected? Remembering that safety is a religion and survival is an art. Thanks for that Pat. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Pros and cons of different types of reserve ripcords

I've never seen one offered on a Javelin or an Icon. Even though they do license the Skyhook. You'd think they would go together. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -

Funny you should ask about that. The Vector 2 manual had a strong suggestion that you try to keep it at no more than 12 lbs. Now that they have Spectra ripcords I've heard they are not as concerned about that. And that they no longer consider a static pull test as valid. The only valid way to measure now is to take a run at it and completely extract the pin. Of course no one does that because then you would have to reclose it. Steel on steel has far less friction. Today is the Brexit vote. We have lots of bets going, what do you think?

Despite the name of the Court, in the inimitable British manner of using the English language it does not have the last word. The matter will be appealed to a higher court. Namely the "Supreme Court". Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -

As far as I know only UPT uses Spectra ripcords. No one else seems to think they are superior, and I agree with that assessment. They will supply a steel cable ripcord with a new rig, but only if you request one. I would request one. And order a Skyhook too. ( If you order without the Skyhook they would supply a steel cable ripcord with a terminal pin. The Spectra ripcord can only work with the marine eye pin) Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
That means almost nothing. Until they announce a firm shipping date it is pie in the sky. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

That is a big can of wriggling worms you are opening up. That's why I assumed you were trolling. Search this forum for posts about Racers and you will learn a lot very quickly. But seriously, where did you see a BoGo offer on Racers? I can't find one. Share please. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Passenger harness fit vs passenger throwing up.

Comey showed his political leanings when he held the press conference to announce no charges. There was no need for a press conference at all. And then he gave a personal opinion that she had been "extremely careless". That may be his opinion, but it clearly is not his job to decide that. Carelessness is not a legal matter and not up to the FBI to decide on. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Religious freedom law used as defense for child abuse
gowlerk replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
This story is missing a very important detail. Namely, what did the judge say about the attempt to use this defense. And did it have an effect on the sentence. It merely says the woman got probation. That means she was convicted and the defense was not successful. The motion to dismiss was not granted. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Passenger harness fit vs passenger throwing up.
gowlerk replied to Rover's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Good question, I'm wondering what the answers will be. At our small DZ the TI's fit the harness themselves. My practice is to tighten the MLW until it is difficult for the student to stand straight. Then I slack off on the rear adjustment by 2 inches for comfort. In the 182 after they are seated I retighten them to where they were. I always ensure that I don't loosen them so much that it would not be safe, just in case I forget. My belief is that it would be pretty hard to tighten the MLW so much that there would not be space between the shoulder and the attachment when under canopy. What brand of harness are you using? We are using Sigmas. Only one chucker, but I only have about 300 tandems. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
The answer you want to hear is that UPT made a mistake and that they do not understand Aerodyne ZPX sizing. And maybe they did, or maybe not. But since I'm a nice guy I will say it. UPT is wrong, the canopy will fit in the container no problem at all. There you have it, the answer you need. Go ahead and buy it, the internet has now told you it will work. Seriously. Really, I do think it will work. But that is only my guess and means nothing more than that. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
