  1. It's okay, no offense was taken. My comment that you replied to was tongue in cheek, sarcastic and fully deserving of your reply. I would advise you to not think too much about abortion. It hurts the head.
  2. Unless your rigger has equipment to test porosity the condition of the PC can not be accurately measured. But I guess you are correct, none of that answers your original question. Is the force required too much. There is no correct answer to your question. There is no standard except for what you find acceptable. Clearly the system will work at a higher speed, but that does not suit all the applications you want to use it for. Also clearly you have a good understanding of the issues involved, so your solutions are obvious. Either decrease the needed force for extraction, or increase the available force. One way to increase the available force would be to change the PC to either a larger one or a ZP one. Depending on whether or not Sunpath sewed the bridle to the bag as they used to do it may be quite simple to attach a more forceful PC and take it for a test jump. Or, ditch the Javelin and get a Racer......Not what I would do, but the required extraction force would drop dramatically.
  3. Because not all far right extremism is criminal? Remember, there are fine people on both sides.
  4. I can't speak for kallend, but I do want to point out that for deniers a heat wave or extreme storm is simply a normal weather event. But a cold event is some kind of proof that the climate is not warming. Silly deniers.
  5. Yes, if we euthanized sick people healthcare costs would fall dramatically. Even more if we could catch them before they breed.
  6. Yup, you yanked his chain and he reacted. Good job.
  7. Sunpath insists on F-111 main PCs. They wear out. Try a ZP PC of an appropriate size. Your problem will probably go away.

  9. Sorry, it's just anecdotal impressions I have gotten over the years. It's my busy time for rigging right now and the only way I could get the details would be to talk to the people who's rigs I should be servicing. I guess the main reason we find it excessive is that MRIs here are generally not available without a much stronger reason and most cases need to be very urgent to get one anywhere near this quickly. But there was one in Eloy last winter that involved a knee sprain, no treatment was needed, but the insurance company paid for an MRI. The others were longer ago and the details are fuzzy in what is left of my mind.
  10. Well, now you are being at least as disingenuous as you are calling me. Of course no one could stretch the need for advanced imaging so far as to cover a cut hand. My opinion is mostly based on Canadian skydivers carrying good travel health insurance who have had minor lower body injuries. They often receive imaging diagnostic procedures that leave them astounded by their perception of waste. Billable waste that is.
  11. Perhaps. But what I generally mean is that if they facility has an MRI machine, you will need an MRI. They may not know the prices, but they do know which procedures management is strongly promoting. I'm not saying individual personnel are trying to juice billings. But they have been told what direction to push in.
  12. When rushmc feels like making an effort he shows as quite literate. However he generally can not be bothered to show the group that common courtesy. That's one of the reason's I have chosen to hide his posts. I only see what he writes when someone quotes him. It cleans up my feed nicely.
  13. When you go to the ER they will always steer you to whatever procedures are the most profitable for them. In the USA that is. In Canada they will provide you with what they deem necessary given the resources available. Which is the better system? That greatly depends on your POV.
  14. Does the state of Kansas have a recall law for a supreme court justices?
  15. The libertarian ethic drives me crazy. These are people who want all the benefits of a society based on rules. But they don't want the particular rules they don't see as benefiting themselves.
  16. A fresh one for today. https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/14/us/oakland-family-gunfire/
  17. I'm sick of responding about this. Climate change denial is a political position tinged with conspiracy nonsense. Go ahead, have your fun. But I'm no longer playing along. You and yours may as well be flat Earther's or Christian fundamentalists. It's all the same to me.
  18. And now Rudy says it's all good. Because the enemy of your enemy is your friend. Even if it's also the enemy of your nation. What a shit show.

    Scars

Venus, Mars, you know. It's true.
  20. It's actually a contraction not a conjunction. And you are a nit picker, as I am. But who cares?
  21. That is only one factor among many. The real reason skydiving is inherently dangerous is it's unforgiving nature. The opportunities to make an error are many and the consequences have a high likelihood of injury. You sound like a man who believes that your training and preparation will keep you safe. You are only partly correct. You have reduced your odds of injury and you should be congratulated for your efforts. But even well trained people make mistakes sometimes, random events you can't anticipate can occur, and someone else's error can get you.
  22. Hmmmm.....hyperbole. This leaves one with a good opportunity to argue that the world will not end in12 years. It does nothing to change the fact that the oceans are warming, sea level is rising, and the glaciers are melting while CO2 levels are increasing. The fact is that US energy companies spent millions in the past buying politicians and paying for the lies that influenced the American right. They have stopped doing that and now acknowledge climate warming. But the work their money did is still being seen in conservative circles where people like brenthutch and rushmc feel the need to keep the fight going for their side. The rest of the world mostly laughs at them for their foolishness.
