  1. I had such fun. Turned up the stereo, and just played. When I get the shots cleaned, I'll post a few up. You men can drool...she's gorgeous, talented, and funny as hell. Dunno about talent, any though, Micro. I wish people 'round here would let me shoot vanity stuff of them. I had one DZ.commer lined up, but he dropped out before we could set up a solid date. Oh well; I coulda done a bang up job with him, but he decided to not model for whatever reason (never did give me one...). I'll post up tomorrow...too tired to pay proper attention to the shots tonight. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  2. Unexpectedly got to photograph a gorgeous lady for her headshots (her boyfriend was having a..."rough"...time. Yeah, we'll leave it there...). Shot about 75-80 shots, she chose 6, and I will get to cleaning them up tomorrow and getting them to her. She's really, really pleased. Some good stuff there. 'Course, she's just gorgeous...so that helps, too. But this was a real test of my ability to shoot under weird circumstances, as well as a real live human model to direct. Had a freakin' ball. So yeah, I had a good thing happen today. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  3. Dayum. Didja catch the call letters/signs/whatever? OY-Jet. Oy. No shit. I am impressed with the plane, though...solid, solid, solid. I was wondering if it was gonna fly off the water there for a few moments. Oy. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  4. you mean like in Iran? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  5. I agree with Cora. Furthermore, the chips which are put into pets do not contain medical information on the pet (as far as I know...), while this company seems to be advocating medical info for a human. Not something I want implanted into my arm... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  6. Jakee, I'm not intentionally being obtuse, I promise. If you mean that I think that the church (whichever one it might be) teaches their doctrine and that is fine, then yes, I think that. That's what a church does. It's their doctrine, after all. Is that what you're meaning and/or looking for? And since I've stated here (and elsewhere in this thread) that I think it's fine that a church teaches it's doctrine, then it's my opinion that it's fine. You may have a different opinion, and that's fine, as well. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

    Then & Than

I remember the difference by this: thEn and now...(timeline) thAn is compArative ("A" corresponds with "A" in comparative, which is the function of the word "thAn"). Took me a while to determine the difference in a manner that I could remember it, and then ingrain it into my communication...and now, it bugs me no end when I see the misuse of the word. 9. Are you sure? My brother, who is a devout Christian and what I consider a fundamentalist, always takes communion when it's presented in church. In the last two churches he belonged to, they offer communion, and my brother participates. So I'm confused...maybe there's a group called Fundamentalists, and that's different from what my brother practices (although he's fundamentalist in his mind). Just wondering and curious for clarification. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  10. I don't believe you one single instant. You don't own a cat; you are OWNED BY the cat. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  11. Nope; I'm asserting my opinion, which may in fact not be one you share. That's what I think. And I already am aware of what you think. You're welcome to your opinion, as well... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  12. It's what some posters do; rather than actually think and debate, they just play Speaker's Corner Twister (tm). It's easier, I think, then actually debating, discussing, and learning something, like you said in your post, even if it's simply to bolster your own argument. But hey, that's all right. Once identified, it's easy to ignore those who play the game, and avoid them. LOL! Cuts down on the reading and typing! 13. Vercetti said I think it's a good point, as well. Thanks for the compliment...made me smile. Geesh, there's the scientist in you coming out. See if it applies everywhere! I have no idea if this specific example can be generalized, so try it on for size and lemme know if it fits. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  14. hi, Wendy, I haven't an idea about that. I thought the discussion was about b/c in general, with condom usage (i.e. the AIDs issue in the last few pages) being the specific part. IUDs, pills, and foam don't protect against AIDs, right? So...that's what I was thinking when I made my blazingly brilliant leap of logic. 15. I don't like venison...I'll eat it, but I don't like it. However, tonight I'm making a taco salad...yummy! Couple that with a drink or two - either tequila or corona, and I'll be a happy camper. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  16. This, combined with Micro's comments about unity, actually generated a thought for me. (YAYAYAY!!! I can still think!!!). Again, please also be aware that I am not catholic, and may not have the teachings correctly (and especially on this one, as the thought just struck me and I am too lazy to research it). The use of condoms physically separates a man and woman with a barrier. With the church's perspective that sexual intercourse, when done in a marriage, is unifying (and I believe that it is), and NFP is practiced, an understanding of the woman's body - by both her and her husband - is generated. A sincere desire to learn about a woman's body, and the actual learning of it in the manner, brings a couple closer together; there is responsibility on both sides to note changes and understand the biology that is occurring, and that has to bring a couple closer. With the use of a condom, that knowledge, understanding and learning is obviated, and the closeness does not occur. I dunno...just a thought. 17. Prayers to Gramma...and good to know you're working there; you can go check in on her and cheer her up on your breaks. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  18. Next time you talk to him, tell him Michele says come to So Cali and I'll buy him all the margaritas he can drink...and I'll stay sober and do the driving, too, in my little sports car with the top down. Thank God he's going to be all right. Thank God. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  19. Well, color me silly too, because I'm thinking of the hostage taking sprees, hijackings, killing of our marines in Lebanon, the embassy bombings, the '93 bombings, the USS Cole, the attempted 2000 LAX bombing, and all those other events which happened. Gosh. Maybe we should've continued funding them, and turning the other cheek once they started, so they wouldn't hit us. Kinda like blackmail, I guess. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  20. Only that? Didn't have anything to do with the rise of terrorism, specifically from the group we had assisted, did it? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  21. I was at Barnes and Noble yesterday, and a calendar caught my eye - "Nuns Having Fun" it was called, and they sure looked like they were having fun. Just thought I'd make mention of that... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  22. Did anything happen or were we just fickle? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  23. Morning, Andy! I understand your position, but the fallacy lays is insisting that the church teaches anything other than faith. It doesn't. That's it's business...teaching faith. Teaching spirituality. Teaching the numinous, as it were. The public, time and again, demands that a church (of whatever persuasion) teach science. They're not scientests, though. Why should I go to a priest when I want scientific info? Similarly, why would I go to a doctor if I wanted faith and spiritual information? The public doesn't demand that a doctor teach faith and spirituality, but the opposite is true. There's a nasty little double standard, don't you think? I don't know the faith of my Drs., and I don't want to. I do know the faith of the rabbis, monks, priests, and pastors I speak with. But I don't know if they're Drs, lawyers, or indian chiefs - because that's not what I'm relying on them for. As for a church using "junk science" to enforce their beliefs, I see the same thing happen with governments. Why does no one take them to task for using junk science (i.e. sex with a virgin will cure you), and yet hold a church responsible for teaching faith-based ideals and modes of behavior? And it's a good example, but it doesn't address the issues we're discussing (i.e. who teaches what to whom and when, why, and how). I had a teacher in high school. He was retiring at the end of the year, and I had Mr. Marshall the semester he was retiring after. This was in 1983, the class was AP History. On the last day of classes, once finals were done and it was more a free-for-all class, Mr. Marshall brought into the classroom lots of bananas and cucumbers. And he brought nearly 500 condoms. He taught us - boys and girls alike - how to put a condom on a piece of fruit. It was the talk of the school, and of the district. However, as he was already retiring, it didn't affect him at all. He took the responsibility for teaching us how to be safe; AIDs was just poking it's ugly head up, and was still only considered a "gay" disease. But Mr. Marshall saw the issue, addressed the issue, and taught us something which, to some, was embarrassing and to others abhorent. However, we all had the opportunity to learn it, and learn it some of us did. He was NOT teaching faith. He wasn't even teaching History. But what he was teaching was preservation...But he wasn't a preacher, rabbi, pastor, or monk, either. He was just trying to save some lives. To insist that a church adhere to a layman's perspective on what it should teach is to nullify a church. Those in the church are tasked with - some would say "called to" - teach that church's position on different things. Only the church's position. Only that church's position. To proclaim that a church's teaching is wrong seems somewhat silly, when they are teaching that church's position. To say that hard science is only allowed in a court room is fine. I understand that completely; the result of a courtroom adventure is the potential for lack of freedom and in some instances life. However, the church is not criminal for teaching their perspective, nor is a person who follows that church a criminal for doing so. Unless a crime has occurred, to hold a church to the standard of a courtroom proceeding is not valid. The "expertise" of any church is faith, religion, and spirituality. The "expertise" of a government health official is health. I expect the CDC to have info on emerging, existant, and possible epidemics. I don't expect the CDC to have info on biblical positions. The opposite is true, as well. It really does come down to personal choice and responsibility. To me, that's an amazing thing to have - the ability to take information from sources, apply my own brain to the puzzle, and arrive at a solution which works for me (abstinence, fidelity, or contraceptives). It's about my body; it's about my choice and responsibility. Bottom line. Again, I understand your (and others) position, I just don't necessarily agree with them. And again, as I stated earlier, I am not catholic, so this is an outside perspective on things. Ciels- Michele PS...me wuvs the Michael, too!!! ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
  24. OMG, how funny. Simon flushes my potty every once in a while; he did it in the middle of the night, and I woke up, certain that I had an intruder...come to find out, Simon was bored and playing in the potty. LOLOL! Cats are such interesting creatures! Thanks for posting that link. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
