  1. Sakydiving? What is that? Sounds like something your marriage should have plenty of, in my humble opinion.... Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  2. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read it in a "Down Under" accent, and it becomes very clear! (I once worked with a man from Jamaica, and I swear, his accent was so thick that if you didn't listen in rhythm, you could not understand a thing he said! Just a bunch of gibberish, until you caught the beat he was speaking in, then POOF, you could understand him. I called it creative listening!) You are too kind, my friend. No, I think in this case, perhaps a code-breaker...lol again! Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  3. Hi, Kevin, no ADD moment, you just have to speak "Skyhawk". His caregiver was watching a movie. From my translation, the mentally disabled man did in fact ask him, but the child ran away. This means the crime was not consumated, due only to the child's quick thinking and ability to handle the situation, not that the mentally disabled man didn't make the request. Because the mental retardation was severe enough that he had a caregiver, there is the significant likelihood that the man's ability to understand right and wrong is severely impaired. Since there is not a clear understanding about right and wrong, no intent can be ascribed to the "suspect". Most mentally handicapped people who require a caregiver have a comprehension level of under 10 years old, regardless of body age. Therefore, it is likely that any prosecution of the man would end in a not-guilty verdict (assuming the general parameters which US law operates under). Something did happen, and there is attendent trauma to the child. However, what didn't happen was a person who is able to understand right/wrong, and able to form intent, committed the crime. Does that help any? Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  4. Done. Tomorrow, the Burbank Temorary Aid Shelter, which is our only public food bank in Burbank, will get a donation in the name of Elizabeth Jane Cemen. And while I didn't e-mail or pm you, I made it a point to call and talk to my dad and mom, and even surprised my brother, sister-in-law and nephew and neice and popped over for an hour of play with them. I am so sorry for your loss, and I appreciate the reminder you gave us - remembering who made me smile for the first time in my entire life and thanking them for that is the most precious thing I could have done. Made them all feel very good. Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  5. The only way Russia can have a space program, imho, is because it is funded by the ultra rich buying spots on a shuttle launch (which funds the actual shuttle launch). The Russian economy is very bad right now (another reason the oil exploration over there is mucho beneficial to the US...but I am creeping threads here...) and it seems to me to be a great way to keep the Russians in the air. It's another sign of the growing capitalism in the region, and I personally think it's a good thing - sell what you can, and if you are the only provider of that resource, so much the better. 6. You know you're a skydiver when you schedule surgery around being able to stay current, and for after a friend of yours is coming down to your dz to jump (you know who you are - don't you dare postpone it now! ROFLMAO)..... So, the good news is they were able to extract some cells from the tumor in my the corner of my eye, and they say that "while we are not 100% positive, it just doesn't present as cancer, so you can stop worrying about that..." (thank you, God!) The bad news is the tumor still has to come out, and that it has somehow attached to the nasal bridge, which means bone involvement. This is Not Good...and the surgery must be within the next two months, before the internal eye pressure gets too bad and I run the risk of a detached retina...so its set for June 20, which should let me have a few more days in the sun before I go under the knife and have to be in darkness for /- 7 days, and light activities for the next month. Dr. said if all went well, I may be able to jump 6 weeks post op, but only to keep my currency, and then only "baby" jumps (he doesn't understand the "Airweenie" concept - baby jumps is all I do! LOL) and then down again for at least another 4 weeks... Blech. And no insurance - basically can't get the coverage because of the pre-existing condition, even if both the Dr. and I lied about it, likely any claim other than "check-ups" would be scrutinized and denied - and if they got a bee up their ass, I could be investigated for insurance fraud...which just doesn't have the right outcome however you slice it. Besides, it's bad kharma, you know? Oh well... You gotta play the hand you're dealt. The trick is to do it with a smile! (My smile is kinda crooked right now, though see? I never did have a good poker face...). Just thought I'd update you all....and thanks for letting me vent here. I'm a tad "skeered". Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  7. Hmmmmm..... Couple of issues going on. The political fight, the oil fight, and one which I am surprised has not arisen yet - the hijackers and OLB connection. Chuck's right - we have plenty of oil. Should we choose to remain as an petroleum driven economy, we can find additional sources, such as our own oil, and there have been talks with the Russian oil folk to purchase oil from the former soviet bloc countries (I'll have to research further to get more info, but there was some interesting discussion about that yesterday). Furthermore, the Saudi's need our US$$ as much as we currently need OPEC's oil. Should we pull our $$ from the region, nearly 40% (I may be off on the numbers, sorry) of their NGP will be "disappeared"...and tell me what economy and or alliance (I am referring to OPEC) could withstand that kind of chunk leaving... The political issues are far more delicate and subtle, inasmuch as King Fahd and 41 are good family friends, having done lots of business in the past; this friendship created the opportunity to bring our troops into the region when Saddam decided he liked Kuwait, and attempted to annex it, thereby increasing Iraq's power/economy something like 25% literally overnight. King Fahd is fading, though, and the monarchy will pass to Abdullah. Abdullah is far more shrewd and anti-western, and poses a great danger to the West, albeit unknown danger. We have seen his hand tipped in this, for starters. It will be interesting how this breaks through. Throw into the mix Osammy been lousey, a Saudi native (born and rasied) who is a longtime friend of Abdullah, and the Bin Ladin family being a close friend to the Saudi royal family. While the Saudi royal family did throw out OBL because his anti-american stance and rhetoric was worrisome and bringing heat onto the House of Saud, the man who made that decision (Fahd) will not be in power for long (long being relative). Guess who was friends with OBL? Abdullah...... And how many hijackers from 9/11 were Saudi? 14 of the 19 actual, or, if you count the alleged 20th hijacker, a full 75% of them. And add into the equasion the wonderful little show Abdullah made on September 18 (??) giving a 10 million dollar check to Rudy Guiliani, and then made a political statement about the US's treatment of the Israeli issue (for which RG returned the check, uncashed), and the recent "telethon" for the Palistinian cause, and the rumors and quiet talk about the Saudi's trying to get our troops out of the Arabian penninsula...and, and, and... We have a very interesting situation developing; many faceted, and potentially devastating unless we are able to move our alliances elsewhere in the region...and that simply doesn't seem too likely. Just a thought or two for this friday. And yes, Quade, Abdullah is an asshole. Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~

  9. Lenscrafters is a chain, right? So, take it to the regional/district manager - the one above the manager you've been speaking to. Let them know a) you are dissatisfied, b) false advertising could apply c) you are a very vocal person - as a matter of fact, you will make sure nearly 10,000 people know about this problem, and then give them a firm deadline - you either have glasses in hand by "x" date, or you want your money back. In fact, you feel you should be getting something back now..... I had an experience with Lenscrafters when I wore contacts, and had a problem. The sales person quoted "x" price, so I ordered 2 pair of lenses....but when the time came to pay, I was told it was twice the price, and the sales person must've made a mistake. I took it to the regional manager, let him know politely and firmly that I felt like I was being ripped off, and ended up with the original price (basically, the second pair free...). Give it a go - what could it hurt? Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  10. I am so sorry to hear that, my friend. Prayers and warm fuzzies to you, and thanks for the reminder. We can never communicate "I love you" enough to our parent. I think I'll call her, and also send a card. Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~

    Walk This Way

You walk now, but soon, soon you will fly! Great job, Dove. I am thrilled and tickled and happy for you. Fly, sweetie, fly! Ciels and Pinks, and big hugs! Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  12. Stress. (Of course, that's my answer for everything ) Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  13. Try alternating heat and ice for the first 48 hours (sounds like you're at that mark...), and then supporting it with a brace, icing it when it hurts, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever as necessary, and then stay off it when possible. In the morning, try stretching it by flexing your knee as far as possible, and rotating it gently (just to get the blood flowing). Other than that, try Jck Daniels or tequila. 14. And now, to top off the day, Arthur calls me a barwhore....no, he couldn't picture me in the air, or on the dz elsewhere, nope, it had to be the porch of the Bombshelter....(just teasing, Viking, just teasing....) Glad to read in a different post that you found swooping cows lift your spirits. I tried to take a page from your book, and watch the clip, and after the download (10 minutes - I'm slooooooooooooow), all I got was sound effects. So while it cheered you up, it only depressed me because I could hear them swooping the heifers, but not see them..... Ya know, this has been a rough day. I think it's time to go off to bed! Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  15. See, Arthur? You're not alone. All of us question what we're going through, why we are going through it, and how the heck we are gonna make it through, just to start over again in a month, a year.... you've had a hard few months. Give yourself some slack, and rest a bit from the pursuit of perfection. You've earned the break. And remember, you didn't have a f**king realtor literally steal your client (and thus the food off your table and the jump tix out of your pocket) and then sit across a table from you lying to your face about it, and then getting tripped up on her lies, and having to lie more...and then telling you you are bad at what you do, and don't deserve another client...and telling your broker that you're a shitty realtor... You're not facing some dr. you barely know wanting to take a knife to your eye. And you don't have bald tires!!!!!!! LOL...(phew, just had to get that off my chest!) You'll be o.k. It will pass. And go do something you like to do which doesn't cost anything - a walk on the beach, hang out with some friends, post like a whore here. You'll survive it.
  16. What is interesting to me, to say the least, is how the heck did she get onto the tarmac, and a secure area? I went through that airport recently - Reserves standing around with guns, and so forth. Hmmmmmmm. The Q Link?

Hmmmm....'twould seem, Lori, you and I are in the same boat. So my question is about #3: How often do you travel by air.....I wonder how they'd gauge skydivers.....
  18. What you do, see, is call in at about 3:30 or 4:00 a.m., and leave a timestamped message saying you've been up all night, and feel absolutely horrible, and haven't even been able to sleep, you're turning off the phone, and letting the machine answer any calls, and you hope you'll be back on Tuesday, but you're not sure.... No boss questions that. The automatic "he's calling at 3:30 am so it must be real, cause no-one in their right mind is up at that hour unless they are really sick" kinda kicks in, and you sorta sail through an unexpected day off....
  19. Yeah, Dove, stop joking with him, and by all means, stop telling him you understand his position and have no additional issue other than what you posted to him....that it felt personal to you, and that you accept his explanation! Yeah, Dove, stop already! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  20. 0:0:0 As usual. The first column doesn't count because it hasn't changed in literally years, and the 2nd column doesn't count because it doesn't change frequently (I usually work all weekend) and the third column doesn't count because I am not in the air to find something which is a first....so nothing counts (hey, I'm starting to feel insignificant or something)... Sigh....someday, I swear someday, I will have something in all three columns at the same time..... Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  21. Hot Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayay for you! Doing the happy dance for Marc...and singing, although, trust me, you don't want to see or hear me. (Remember the saying "it's the thought that counts"?) Made my day, Marc. Of course, I am sure it made yours, too...but I could use a peice of cheerful news. And that was the best. At JFTC, you and I will pitch out of a plane, and celebrate! Yipppppppeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  22. So, thinking my office must have a better computer than me, I tried unsuccessfully to download it there and watch it. So I came home, and, as I was getting sleepy, I decided to try to download this and watch it really quick before I head off to bed. Surprise, it worked. And now, I can't sleep. Holy fuck! That was close. Glad he was o.k. 'Nuff said. Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  23. Cool...who knew working in a camera store could be so, well, interesting? And I wonder what they wanted the digital cams for... If the guy doesn't plead guilty, and it goes to trial, you may very well be called to testify. And make "perp" () identifications..... Me? All I did was have a slow, unproductive day..... Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  24. Well, damn, that just sucks! Sorry to hear it...but maybe now you can come all the way south to Perris! Ciels and pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
  25. Smile. This shit is fun! Like has been said, relaxing, watching the plane fly away, and arching really hard is excellent advice. But the best piece of advice I ever got was "smile as you leave the plane, no matter how scared and tense you are, just smile anyway"; it really does work. Don't give up - I know I quit a few times during AFF, always to come back another day and play in the sky. You'll be fine, just get back there and keep at it. Ciels and Pinks- Michele If you really want to, you can seize the day; if you really want to, you can fly away... ~enya~
