When I get totally wasted (rarely), I tend to sit there, and laugh. Just giggle. Just chuckle. At nothing that anyone else can see, hear or comprehend. Everything is just funny as hell. Then I go home and fall asleep. Still giggling. Although, when I wake up in the morning, I'm not giggling, I've getting aspirin and water.... When I'm two or three drinks in, I usually believe that I am, in fact, interesting...so if you ever see me thinking I'm interesting, hand me another margarita or martini, and that'll stop - I'll just start giggling instead! Thank you, Jay, for joining us here to express your sadness. And that is one of the most beautiful poems, and timeless and eventless. And so evocative of how we feel in the sky, and what she experienced. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

(Psst...hey, Scratch...I have to go to bed. I have a long day and an early one, so I gotta go....shhhhhhhh....you didn't see me, really. Just, um, blink or something, 'kay? Have a great day, and take care of those little birds. Oops, I let that slip. I'd best go before I start talking too much or something...and let you all know I've been lurking.... Night, all! Great days for all of you!) ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

(sneaks open the door, whispering) Psst...hey, Ferdi? That was a very funny link ...y'know, the post you linked to with the attachment? Made me giggle.... Ciels- Michele (closes door quietly so no-one knows I was here...carry on!)

Dave, you've been here how long, and you have how many posts and you still don't know? I'm not telling. But that does explain why you're always in the bushes......I thought you were stalking Clay's, uh, herd.... As to Anne's thought on opinions, yes, well, that too. Good deal, Rooke! Smart decision!

Hey, Rooke.... First, I am glad you weren't more seriously injured...ears are nothing to fool around with. Good to hear you've gone to the Dr... However.... Well, you jumped congested...you were the judge of that, too... Nope, the Dr. is the judge of that. Over the summer, I had eye surgery. Know what? I really really really wanted to jump before he said o.k. The day after he o.k.'d me I was in the air again. Know what else? I still have a tube in my eye as we speak. It is really irritating. It is a pain in the, well, eye. He has started to remove it twice, because it was only supposed to be in there 2 months, and it's now 4 1/2 months post op. I'm restricted because of the tube. Both times he started to remove it, he stopped. my eye is not ready. If it had been left up to me, I'd've pulled it out long ago. I'm in fairly regular "pain" (feels like an eyelash is there all the time). BUT! It's not yet fully healed. So I wait. Guess what? He's the Dr. You're not. Listen to him, tolerate it for what it is. You're here in So CA, so it's not like you have to jump before "winter" sets in. Worse comes to worst? You sit out for 14 days. Paugh. Nothing. You think the sky's going somewhere? You think you'll forget how to do this amazing thing? You think all your friends will be miracle jumpers by the time you come back? Not true. So what's the rush? Stay down, get healed, and then return as normal. You'll be happy you did, and your Dr. will be pleased you actually listened to him. Hey, you two... welcome to the skies. I totally understand the smile thing, too. I hope you have many years to enjoy that smile... And glad to see you've made it to the site. Burbank, 73, overnight lows to 40's. Repeat through the rest of the week, and likely into next week, as well. Ahhhhhhhh..... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Talk About DZ & Training Has Gotten Me Big Trouble!
Michele replied to Airhead's topic in Safety and Training
Ditto. What's sad is that you are the third person I've heard of this happening to... Sorry to hear you're having to deal with this. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~ -
We have lost a young jumper/student this weekend...full discussion on Incidents board. Eternal blue skies, Elizabeth. And sincere condolences to her family and friends, some of whom post and lurk here. You will all be in my prayers and thoughts. If you need a place to talk, this is a great one. We listen not just with our ears, but with our hearts. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I forgot to let go with both hands at the same time. That hurt. And then I fell stable and for what seemed like an incredibly loooooooooong time. Just get out and play - enjoy yourself for the first time with no-one else in the air with you. Really look around you. And really watch your altimeter. OH! And congratulations on graduating! WAHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

RAWK ON! Yay for you - and although I didn't know you have had such a rough time of it, I love your perserverence - never giving up is the key! You did it, you made it, you graduated, you are amazing!!!!!! Whhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooo!!!!! Congratulations to you! Thanks, Kallend. Would you mind linking your response? It's hard to wade through the heated rhetoric to find them. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Yup, there's more "inventory" on the market right now than there's been in over a year. Been watching the trends over the summer...good and bad news...bad news: Sellers are still stubborn, believing it to be "seasonal" - but it started weakening in August; good news: interest rates are looking like they are staying put for a while...unless something really bizarre happens, they should remain right about 6-7% until summer (but hey, it's still good ol' Alan Greenspan at the helm...who knows). I hope it's not "bursting", I'd rather it be more like a slow leak in your tire...bursting would not be good. Call me when you're ready - be happy to help! Hey, Proff Curious, though, as to what you would consider "valid". I mean, I see a lot of stats quoted, some from this or that website, some from this or that report, and both sides scream "subjective" or "interpretive", "hot air" or whatever, claiming skewing of data to fit one's perspective. It's human nature. So what would you consider valid data? Which study do you find purely objective, no personal interpretation? Which set of numbers do you see as accurate, and why? Not trying to poke or agitate. Just pure curiousity here. Ciels- Michele PS - did the girls ever pay you for that comment? LOL... ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Yup. An average, 3 jump day at the dz costs me somewhere in the neighborhood of $120. Now that I have my own main, it will run about $100...But for me, right now, it is easier to sneak $100-120 away from the budget than it is for me to sneak $2000 for a used harness, reserve, and cypres... That is why I am having a hard time getting to Eloy - if I'm there for 5 days, assuming comparable costs, it's gonna be $500-600 just for jumps and gear, not to mention gas, food, beer (which I am sure I'll owe), lodging, etc. All told, I'm looking at something on the order of $700-800...which is hard to find when you have nothing in escrow....sigh...Shit, this stuff is expensive... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I am still renting the majority of my gear, so the cost of my jumping each time is higher than most. Should I ever be able to afford to buy gear, I suspect my jump numbers will rise. As it stands, I get out about once every 5 weeks, and get three jumps in. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Steve - many hugs to you, and many thoughts and prayers sent your way. Bringing it here to skyfamily is also what this site is about. No need to apologize for it. Losing a child is the worst thing a person can be asked to handle, and we are here for you. I wish I had something I could say to take the pain away from you, but there isn't. All I can do is offer a shoulder should you need it. And remind you that Lucas is not gone, he is just not here. Smile for him, and laugh for him - he knows. Eternal blue skies for him, my friend, eternal blue skies for him... Hugs- Michele

Yeah, no shit....that's exactly what I'm talking about (please note that I entered the correct e-mail... three times). Therefore, I must have failed the IQ test. I do not have an IQ. Or, in the alternative, not one which can be measured by normal means....does this mean I'm Abby Normal? Hmmmmmmmmm. Just call me Abby from now on.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Good suggestion. Tried that. Took the test again and entered that as my e-mail. It seems someone is using that, as well. I must have failed, but they're trying to be nice...they won't give me my score. I shall hereon be known as the great unscoreable Michele.....
