ROFL...yeah, right. I mean, I cook very well. I bake my own bread, make my own jelly, can cook circles around most people I know who are not professional chefs...if you ever tasted my chicken in wine with garlic mashed potatoes, you would swoon. I have my standards, though. If I really like you, you'll get treated to a meal you won't forget. If I don't like you, you get store bought bread and hamburgers. I can clap in rhythm...but not if I'm chewing gum at the same time. Actually, I played violin, cello, flute, piano...and I sucked at all of them....and Lord don't let me sing. I sing all the time, usually with the radio cranked up loud enough so I can't hear myself and the neighborhood dogs don't think a siren is coming. Even when I am thoroughly drunk, I know better than to sing Kareoke... Ah well, the musical gene fairy just didn't shine on me... [qute]What the hell is that sh*t...er..stuff...er..growth on the tip of his nose????!!??!!! Um, leprosy? Syphilis? I swear, he had the best eyes as a child singing to a rat....but geez... Know this lawsuit? Something about the concert not being as profitable as first though so it was cancelled....? Could it be because of how freaky he looks? That was just ill. Seriously ill. If I knew about sex before they were born, that kinda automatically excludes them from the list... Ceils- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Me too.... "People born in the Year of the Snake are deep." Or in deep water, which ever comes first... "They say little and possess great wisdom". Uh, sure. Have they read my posts????????? "They never have to worry about money; they are financially fortunate." I checked this thing twice. I really did. So....I guess this means I'll marry well. "Snake people are often quite vain, selfish, and a bit stingy." I am not stingy. I am, uh, cautious. Vain and selfish seem about right. "Yet they have tremendous sympathy for others and try to help those less fortunate." I do have tremendous sympathy....just not good judgement about who gets that sympathy... "Snake people tend to overdo, since they have doubts about other people's judgment and prefer to rely on themselves." I tend to overdo because I don't trust myself and do everything at least three times to make sure I have it right and it doesn't blow up on me. OTOH, that is exactly why I never did a tandem but started out on AFF.... "They are determined in whatever they do and hate to fail." Yes...but that is called obstinate and stubborn, too.... "Although calm on the surface," o.k., I call BS. I am not calm, surface or otherwise. I will agree that Zennie is, however.... "they are intense and passionate.". Shoot, I am intense and passionate.... but not always rational. "Snake people are usually good-looking" ROFL....yes, well, I guess I am the exception therein. Just ask around! LOL!!!! "and sometimes have martial problems because they are fickle." No, it was because I was the wrong gender. He was fickle.... "They are most compatible with the Ox and Rooster." Um, so, who's the Ox or Rooster here? LOL, this is about as accurate as the western zodiac. Either that, or I am such an outlier that I can't be catagorized. Morning, Justin... I know, which is why I included my (admittedly limited) opinion. Vinnie P at Perris rawks (any locals need a great rigger, pm me and I'll give contact info)! The guy you're talking about is not someone I would give my gear to. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

A few rambling 'round my head this morning...not necessarily my fav's all the time, but apropos lots of the time.... "fools to the left of me, Jokers to the right, Stuck in the middle again..." (I might have gotten that one confused, but it's close) "He who made kittens Put snakes in the grass" "Hellooo, is there anybody out there? Is there anybody listening?" The whole song "Southen Sky" by the Eagles - they have a live version of it which is truly amazing...tight harmonies, serious serious music right there. And of course, what Muenkel said...It's a Wonderful World...(some days take more coffee than others...) There are tons more... My rigger (well, not that I have gear for him to rig, but anyway) was also on my first jump as my reserve side JM, on my cutaway as main side JM, and he does tandems as well. I have not seen him fun-jump, though. Always available for me to answer questions, either in person, on the phone or via e-mail. Dude rawks... Not to hijack... Most actors who didn't make it suddenly, but worked hard and over time became celebs are not like that. They understand that but for the fans there would be no work for them. Some overnight "stars" also get it. And there are those who are just assholes, and think their excrement is not maloderous...and then they find themselves with a reputation which, although deserved, is not necessarily a good one. Pop makes it a point to sign any 'graphs asked for - going so far as to make sure he has paper and a pen with him, in case someone wants one but has nothing to write on/with. He has been known to take an hour at the supermarket, getting lettuce for the salad, because he gets into a conversation, and is having a good time. We were in NYC, and he literally stopped traffic - well, the cabby did so he could say "hi" to Pop... Actors are working, mostly, while they're on the set. It may not be "work" like you and I know it - paper from the in basket, do something with it, paper to the out basket - but there is some genuine work going on. This, however, does not preclude one being polite and nice...and saying, like Happy Thoughts, "hey, I'm a bit busy - catch me at lunch/end of the day". I never did understand why they don't. Hi, Steve. I don't see it as a "choice" for most folk. (Forgive me, I am going to generalize here)...you had stories of the "old country", or of immigration adventures (or whatever you call them); you were told stories of how you came here, or how you lived here; I didn't have that. Where you came up looking at Aunt Ethel and hearing stories of how you had her ears, and my, what attractive ears they were to the people "back home", or if you had Uncle John's roman nose, and were told stories of who else in the family had the same feature; where you had holiday dinners with certain traditional foods and followed certain customs; it is a part of you, not bifurcated and seperate. Where some people had a sub-national identity by living in clusters, like in the Bronx or Brooklyn (where Pop came from), or came from a history of farming (like my Mom), there is a history reaching back which extends far beyond the simple "I come from..." Where you had that, I had none. I had no family history to trace, I had no foundation of tradition like "Grandma used to in the old country". What my parents tried hard to do was teach me about the countries of my heritage, through stories and books and movies, and trips abroad to see it. I would look at my mother, and realize I bore no resemblance to her; likewise to my father. The effect of it was that I learned a lot about two cultures, and learned their history. And then, at 25, found that yet again what roots I had established were non-existent, and, in the case of England v. Ireland, a long history of animosity and significant war. What was I supposed to think about that? It was not easy...and I am still not positive what I think about that 12 years later. But where my identity lies is not in my national heritage, I don't think. Did that make any sense? This is the first time I've tried to talk about it, so I am not sure if I'm being clear. For all those who care, the turkey turned out really yummy. Getting a fully cooked, hot turkey to the office along with hot Artichoke dip and stuffing was an adventure...and when I walked in carrying the load, my broker stands up and hollars... "Here comes the turkey!"...and I wasn't sure if he meant the food or me. . In any event, the turkey is now left overs.... One down, two more to go this month... I was raised believing that I was English and Dutch...as I was adopted, that's what the papers said, that's what I was taught. Dad and Mom worked really hard to give me at least a cultural heritage, if I had no personal familial one. Come to find out, once I found my birth parents, that I wasn't Engish and Dutch, but rather Scots, Irish and American Indian... Yes I did. Sadly, I couldn't find time in the schedule for entertainment for the firemen..... Perhaps next time.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

The proof is in the pudding, shortly to be removed from the oven and transported to the office....along with the sausage stuffing and the hot artichoke dip. And what's sad is that I have absolutely no interest in eating any turkey at this point.... Besides, I want a nap...but will be at the office until at least 6 this evening, if not later. The burn on my hand isn't too bad either.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Bill, I have an honest question for you. I am not going to answer the questions you asked because I haven't really thought about them that much, but I do have a sincere and honest question for you about your position in general...and I am not poking at you, o.k.? I am a little confused. Haven't you promulgated the thought that "collateral damage" should be ameliorated in all situations, that specificity in targeting and careful selection of the target and manner of attack should be considered very very carefully? And yet, I get the impression with this Yemeni question and what discussion I have read that you believe that no collateral damage is acceptable. This situation was very very carefully targeted and carried out, according to what I've seen. The attack could have taken place in a myriad places with far more "collateral" damage, and yet, great care was taken in dealing with this man and the threat he poses. In this specific instance, only one known death was "collateral", and I am not even certain that it is "collateral", inasmuch as collateral and innocent seem to have become interchangeable terms. So my question is simply this: in war, there are people killed who are not part of the fighting group. What is your acceptable limit of those killed who are not "combatants"? One? Two? None? Yes, idealistically, there would be none. And there may have been none in the Yemeni bombing. Just really curious and again, this is with all sincerity and respect. LOL...yes, well, I only have 2 potholders, so I watch them carefully. I'm highly creative, and I'm sure I'll figure out a new and unique way to light that particular fire.....besides, firemen coming to visit at this time of day would actually be a good thing.... Naw, don't shut up...and share your beer, Nacmac....please, I'm begging here... As for cooking class, it's more like cooking fiasco, if you ask me! Besides, a little history lesson is always a good thing! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Hey! I have a flamey post! Just as long as my kitchen doesn't catch fire, too...which is a distinct possibility.

Yeah, well, that recipe is for the little green men the NE is always finding... Of course, dishsoap and sudsy water always should be used as seasoning... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Tuesday Turkey part two.... So there I am, lifting a 16 lb turkey out of the oven, and I swear, it's gained weight. But it's time to turn it over, you see, so no choice but to get it on top of the oven so I can finagle it from a position wherein I can achieve leverage. Lift it up, search for the correct implements. Instead of the prong fork stabby things I used last Thanksgiving (which seem to have been left at my sister-in-law's house a year ago....), I find only big rubber spoons. So I get a spatula, and a spoon, and I swear, this is the payback time for executing a turkey in celebration. Lift the backside of the turkey up, slide the spatula under it. Jam the spoon into the stuffingless cavity, and start to flip the bird. It slides around, trying to avoid this spoon up it's kazoo. It is escaping, and the cats are interested. Obviously these are housecats, because they think they can attacka 16 lb turkey, and kill it again if in fact it falls over, and manage to avoid me, too. I manage to flip the bird without spilling it or the "juice" on the floor, muttering invectives at it all the while (that really helped, I know this), and then - then the spoon won't come out of the turkey's "cavity". It's stuck. Standing there in a tee and jammie bottoms, I look at this halfbaked bird with a spoon hanging out of it's ass, and wonder just what the hell I'm doing. It's 8:30 in the morning, for pete's sake! I yank the spoon out - it doesn't have to look good....cover it with foil, get it back in the oven. Round one won. The cats hate me. Oh joy, I get to do this again in 90 minutes. Whheeeee. Happy happy joy joy.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
