Congratulations, Michael - and with the added blessings of the two kids and the one coming soon, you are indeed a lucky man. Here's to many, many more! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

You shoulda heard my prayers after I split with my ex....what I posted to Andi was mild... As for "worst nightmare", perhaps. Perfect woman I am not...but in most areas I make the grade. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I'm praying. Praying hard. "God, please let Andi's in-laws respect her, her home, her way of doing things. Please increase Andi's patience tenfold. And please let them encourage her skydiving, show intense interest in all her videos, and let them come out to the dz to all do tandems. In the alternative, God, could you please help her think of inventive death techniques, and blind all law enforcement's eyes, allow her to leave no evidence trail, and to live with no guilt for the self defensive measures she's taken. Amen". Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Well, maybe, but I didn't get a hug from you and I did from Mike...and he thought flying around the sky with me was fun! (well, that may be an exaggeration...but he does smell good!) When're you coming out here so I can smell you, hug you and then fly with you, and make a decent comparison? As to old, you haven't a clue how old I am....so how would you know? yessir! No, I didn't bring him home. He is gorgeous, though - a tabby with very clear markings, and absolutely charming and affectionate. Just a sweetheart. And his motor is soooooo loud....he was purring and cuddling and just adorable. I thought about bringing him home - still am, as a matter of fact - but am not sure how the other two ladies will adjust to a new cat as well as a male (unneutered - which would immediately change).... I dunno.... I forgot to mention on the other post that when I was standing there at those parrots' cages and other birds cages, all I could think of was Jessica and her being the birdmaster. yes, you are. I was at Pet Mania today, considering getting a 3 month old kitty (adoption). He's so affectionate, and inquisitive. His cage was right by a big bird cage - which had a glorious, large green parrot with blue and iridescent colors who kept saying "hello" to me. I got the kitten out, and he crawled onto my shoulder, and get his nose next to the birdcage and "maaaaaaaaooooooooow"ed at the bird. Who looked at the kitten and squawked "hello" with far more alarm in it's voice. Whereupon, the kitten sunk his claws into my shoulder, reached a paw out and thumped (as hard as a kitten can, which isn't hard) the cage...the bird squawked, glared, and tried to bite the cage open. That was a cool parrot.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

From what I understand...it was a main/reserve entanglement, and some trees helped him out...I could be wrong...but here's a post which mentions it Mike's Mal Like I said, I could be wrong... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I voted for Mike - he's been around for a long time, has seen some amazing things in this sport, kept his wits about him during a serious malfunction (from what I understand), is without doubt one of the best camera fliers around, and smells good, too. He rocks.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

yeah, no kidding. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Thanks. Glad he was o.k.... Any serious partying the night before? (I'm thinking add dehydration to the mix)... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Wow. Any idea why? And good deal on completing the camp....it sounds like a challenge and a great experience! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

yes, we are all entitled to our opinions... One of the most wonderful things about her was her ability to put aside the fuss and attention, and be herself, totally and truly. She was honest to her life, her heart, and her world...frank and clear about what was important (not her celebrity status - she called that the "custard pie", not the meal). If you haven't watched her move through a man's world as her own person - with all facets of self showing - then you wouldn't understand why I admire her as much as I do. I grew up in the Hollywood world - the superficiality, the egos, the arrogance...and because of that, I do not hesitate to acknowledge one outside that realm yet in it, balanced and serene, doing as she chose...contrary to most, constant to herself and her beliefs. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GIRLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! WHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for you! I swear, you will never be the same - there will come, creeping into your awareness, an appreciation for things that used to be ignored, or were subtle. You will have a sharper understanding of what is important - and what is not...and a base understanding of limits. For once you have jumped from a plane, tasted the blueness of the sky, and flown, what was impossible becomes possible... Much love, girl. Thanks, Amazon. As a young woman, she was beautiful - impossibly high cheekbones, strong jawline, dreamy eyes speaking of a passion to taste what the world had to offer. In some moments she possessed and "otherworldliness", in others a playfulness which was infectious. And at all times, she was herself. As an old woman, she possessed a serene beauty that can only come with time; a maturity, a wisdom, experiences encountered etched on her face - and still the passion showed; still the dreamy, faraway expression which spoke of "forever" in her eyes...a life lived well and fully. The three "hallmarks" of a serial killer are (per the FBI/Crime Classification Manual): 1. Arson 2. Wetting the bed long after the normal age of potty training 3. Mutilation of animals, either dead or alive. Sinker, I think that Hannah is wayyyyyy interested in seeing the real "live " aspect of life...why we can walk, why we breathe, all of that curious stuff. It's great, I think. I'll bet she's starting to consider the world as an interactive place, rather than just "her" playground, and has been thinking about death and what happens after, both to the soul/spirit and to the body. I would be a little more hesitant, however, in letting her see something that once was alive, in her bedroom, running around on a treadmill. It might be difficult to reconcile the bones to the memories she has of Gerbie playing. I would also be a tad concerned not about buggies, nor the potential unsanitary aspect of it, but more that there will likely be bits of skin and ligaments and other "noodles" still attached. That might be a bit more than even a 6 year old, precocious child can address. Would something like a model of a skeleton be good? Something she can touch, feel, maybe put together and/or take apart? Not a toy, but more of a veterinary model, maybe. That might satisfy the curiousity without it being so personal, you know? I also have another thought, but I'll pm you with it. You know what, JT? You're right. "Cutie" is not a way I would describe her. Elegant. Classic. Handsome. Gorgeous. Talented. Beautiful. Strong. Brilliant. Graceful. Those are better words. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Katharine Hepburn, once called "box office poison" because of her penchant of speaking her mind and picking her own route through life, passed away today at the age of 96. Nominated 12 times for an Oscar and winner 4 times, she died peacefully at her home in Connecticutt. I have incredible childhood memories of this indomitable, beautiful, elegant and classy lady, who touched the hearts of millions of people, encountered the most amazing love with Spencer Tracy, and lived her life her way on her terms. Blue skies, Katharine, and thanks for all of it. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Hi, Jon and Phree... Stumbled into this forum, and I am intensely intrigued by both the nerf or pottypaper idea. As someone who has "canopy issues", I really like the idea of a dynamic object to work with...above 1200 feet... By the same token, I really am not yet interested in CRW - I still get anxious having someone within 100 feet of me while in the air (right, Phree?? LOL)...but it's something I will want to try in the future. I think. Well, I'll decide then... The question I have is would this work for someone just learning how to fly their canopy? I've done the canopy control class...would this be a good way to increase skills for the novice? Or would it only instill bad habits? (and yes, 1200 feet and it's time to get ready to land...) (and BTW, Jon, excellent website. I learned tons, and still haven't read the whole thing yet. I'll be there a great deal...Thanks!!!) Yeah, right. 97 at 11:30, 106 at 2, 117 in my car in the shade with the windows down. Dust devils and dizzy spells. Sigh...not for me today... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Morning, all. I've been watching these conversations develop, deteriorate, develop again...very interesting. Something no-one seems to have mentioned is going to the experts who teach this already for their suggestions. You might find out that, oh say Jim Slayton, has already been developing a skills based license for canopy piloting, and has spent some years doing it. A few other comments, and then I'm gonna go practice my skills... The numbers are interesting, but I still contend that as there hasn't been adequate data available, that a conclusion cannot be accurately drawn as to the amount of deaths under an operational canopy v. other causes. If a significant amount of the data is missing (w/l), one cannot draw a conclusion that supports a regulation for a particular position, pro or con. I cannot see that this is anything other than a whole lot of interesting discussion without a conclusion. From what I understand, some folk have sent the USPA letters expressing their position. I suggest that everyone do that, and give it to the board to discuss at their next meeting. Jan Meyer, in a conversation on June 7th, told me basically that the USPA is there to keep the FAA off our back, not implement new rules. It was clear to me at that point something significant needs to happen at the grassroots level to change minds and positions...but if only a handful have communicated their positions, then it is not enough. I think everyone agrees that there is a need to address the problem, but not everyone agrees on the way to do it. It is interesting to note who is and is not participating in the discussions. In Ron's poll, there is a clear majority indicating a preference for education over regulation. If that is something that can be supported, why is that not being stressed, developed, and thought through? If we can solve the problem of education availability, then we can begin to address the issues. Just some things to think about and things I've observed...
