Thanks for the responses. (anyone else have any more???) I think I'm too chicken to do it right now, but I hope, maybe by the end of the summer, I won't be. I am still having a hard time imagining it, but I have at least a better idea of how it happens and what does go on. I also think I will have a very difficult time doing it....climbing over the side of a basket with shaking knees may not go well at all... I needed a more laid back atmosphere, so switched over to Elsinore; I still go play at Perris, though, but for me, Elsinore fit me better. But it's not like that for everyone...so why not try them both? See which suits your needs and make your choice from there? The car is now currently located in the National car lot. Airport has not been affected. Getting to the airport is difficult, but according to the airport authority, the planes are taking off and landing normally. Per NYPD, only one firearm found, and is not attached to the device. Car is 2 weeks overdue (rental return). It was located, had many tickets, somewhere in Queens. National representatives brought it back to the car lot, and began inventory. Found some items (weapon, suspicious package/device). Bomb squad is there, cordoned off area. "Does appear to rule out terrorism" because of the length of time it had been sitting there in Queens. So, the front page article got me thinking about what it would be like to make a balloon jump. And while I know there are lots of you who've done one, I can't even begin to imagine it. What's the dead air like? How do you exit - climb over the side and fall? What is it like, being still and then moving out into the sky? How high do you go? What about separation? Does your canopy deploy slower/softer? How do you get stable if you have no resistence from the air? And all those kinds of things. I am trying to picture it in my head, me going out of a balloon; but it's like before I ever jumped from a plane - just can't get that mind's eye to conceive it. Please, tell me your story...share with me your experience - good, bad, indifferent...balloon jumps are intruiging to me. And thanks in advance.
