Of course I am. That way, I can make sure I have enough of everything for 2 weeks, even though it's only 5 days. I can fill all bags to bursting, unpack everything, make three lists, and pack it all up again, checking the list off as I go. I'll have the bags waiting at the curb for my 80 y/o father to load them into the trunk as I frantically wave my freshly done manicure in the air, thus making it dry faster. Then I'll chatter all the way to the airport while I am doing the rest of my makeup. At the terminal, I will rent one of those carts because I simply can't carry the stuff on my own because it might screw up my manicure and because I am wearing those 4" heels we all must travel in. Once I actually board the plane, I will impose on my travelling companion to get my overnight bag up into the overhead bin. And I will choose a window seat, and make sure I get up once every 1/2 hour and climb over the people next to me. I will make sure I overfill my cup so that when we hit turbulence, it will spill and soak the person next to me. I will ask the attendent for blankets and a pillow, so I can sleep, and then, trying to get comfy, I will spread the blanket out over the whole row and lean against my neighbor's shoulder. Then, once we land, I will reverse the procedure. I love travelling!! Of course, Chris, you're a guy. You will bring 2 pair of underwear, your regular ones and a clean pair for church. Hi, Carth... I did my first jump as AFF. If I were to do it over again, I likely would go tandem. There's a lot going on, and a lot to assimilate during a jump. I think I would have been less overwhelmed if I had been able to "watch the view" the first jump, rather than try to watch the view and accomplish everything else, forget what the signals are, pull by myself, and get lost looking for the airport.... Whenever anyone asks me about it, I recommend tandem as a first go, because it takes some of the pressure off. Welcome to the skies, and come back and let us know what you decide to do. neither too personal nor demonstrating naivity. I'm very open about my depression...it sucks, and I hate it, but I will always talk about it should someone ask. SSRI's are medications which regulate the seratonin in your body. Meds like prozac, paxil, wellbutrin, lexapro etc. that I am sure you've heard of before are SSRI's (I beliee it stands for Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitors). I was on SSRI's when I started, stopped taking them shortly after I started, and will consider taking them again should the depression get too bad, or all the warning signs are there this will be a bad episode. As to does jumping help me, yes, I believe it does. Does it "cure" me? No. So I am not sure about the seratonin/dopamine aspect of the discussion, because if it did, then I would think I'd be "cured" as long as I stayed jumping. But I do feel better about myself, and my self esteem is quite boosted (especially after something like this weekend's jumps), I feel better about things...but that doesn't mean I have enough seratonin/dopamine...it just means I feel better today than I did last week, or whatever. It would be hard to quantify it better than that...sorry if that's not terribly clear. Hope it does answer, at least a little bit! Congratulations... You saved 2 lives last night. You made a significant difference for those two. With the domestic, you may have saved another. There are at least two people who are alive because of you. And a third who might be able to change their situation because of you. It feels useless...but not to those folks. Those folks needed you - and you were there. How grateful I am that you were. You have my utmost respect and my deepest thanks. And yes, it's hard. Making a difference is never easy, never simple. The things you see, the things you feel - those are difficult to bear; and you're not alone. You have us to come to, and I will always listen should you need an ear. It took me nearly a month to return after AFF 1 for level 2. Three weeks after that, I did level 3 and had a malfunction/cut. 3 days later I was back trying it again...and then once a week or so until I graduated... Funds prevent me from getting up and out as much as I'd like, but 3-6 jumps per month is good enough for me. I do also have clinical depression. I wonder if there's a correlation between taking an SSRI and jumping infrequently, and not taking one and wanting/needing to jump more is present.... Hrm.... No, I don't think we will be jumping, unfortunately. Not that I don't want to, but I don't think the time will be available.... However, if Lori and I can escape the clutches of her husband and Muenkel, we will approach random men on the street, and ask them to take off their pants. Well, alright, I will.
