So, this morning, on the front porch lay this package. "Hrm, I guess it's Cora's risers", thinks me, as I am muddling through my morning coffee and trying to get my brain awake. "no prob...just glad my neighbor didn't decide to bring it in." As I go outside to get it, I notice it is not Cora's risers...it's a box from GODIVA CHOCOLATIERS[/I]! And, best yet, it's addressed to ME! I bring it inside, knowing it will make me late for work. I open it, and inside, nestled in the packing, is a beautiful box of their best stuff. Oh my God, I've died and gone to heaven! I look around the box for a card, nothing. I look high and low, open the packing slip - nothing. Absolutely nothing. No clue, no hint, just chocolate. I put it on top of the fridge so I can savor them tonight. Gives me something to look forward to. But no card.... I am very late to the office so I need to leave now. In our office meetings, there is a part called "Needs and Wants"...so I say "I need to know who sent me Godiva Chocolates", and explain that there's no indication who sent them, but that I really want to say thanks...Derek says he did, but we all know he's lying. He always says he did things. He doesn't do much of anything, but always says he did. I think it's maybe my broker, because he knows what I am dealing with, but no, not him.... And now I am being plagued by this mystery. It's a great mystery - I've been smiling most of the morning because of it - to think someone cares enough to send me Godiva Chocolates...how cool is that? And it does make the news I got from the Dr. a tad easier to bear. So home I come, and I had left the packing box out. Of course Pumpkin, being an intrepid kitten, has investigated the box and the slip - and managed to find a card tucked in there. Kindly, Pumpkin didn't eat the note card, so I open it and find... "Screw flowers, it's all about Chocolate. Take care and get back into the sky soon. Love, The Chocolate Fairy" So, dearest Chocolate Fairy, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do not know how this generous act of kindness has made me smile today, a day which is not very happy nor easily borne. Your thoughtfulness and heart shows through, and I thank you so very much. I had a lesbian couple as clients once. They were the absolute coolest folk around. One was a lawyer and the other one her paralegal, and they had the best relationship between them. I found them the neatest house, and they were, after the lawyer got over being the lawyer, very easy clients. What was fun was the way they'd tease me. I had lots of questions, and because of our relationship, I got to ask them about things. Not about what they did in the bedroom - that's certainly none of my business straight or gay - but what it was like in society, personalities breakdown, and so forth. They'd answer anything I asked, but not because I would say "what's it like being gay", but rather other kinds of questions about the societal aspects and interpersonal things. It was never "ohhhh, you're gay"; I had tons of respect for them as human beings, as people. And because of that, they were comfortable enough for me to talk openly with. But then again, I'd ask them all sorts of other kinds of questions, too, about their careers, their families, their dogs, favorite foods, and so on. It just doesn't matter if someone is gay or not. When all people see is a person's sexuality, most of the person's attributes are left out. If a person is seen just for their boobs, or just for their packages, and what they do with them, that negates the whole individual. And everyone is far more than who they choose to sleep with, same sex or not. (And no, I didn't bother to open the attachment)... Some girls like it, other girls don't. Heck, some women like brown hair, some like bald guys. Try being a woman surrounded by whuffo men. There is such an issue with a woman jumping from a plane to whuffo men. I asked my broker why that was - he and I have a good relationship. He basically said that men see themselves as "providers and protectors", and it's hard to provide and protect when their woman is flinging herself out of a plane. I told him to come into this century, please. However, he does indeed have a point. I find my jumping, as infrequent as it is, is very intimidating for most of the men I come into contact with off the dz. It's puzzling to me, but it's very real. Muj, when I had a male cat, he'd sometimes pee in the sink. He had bad cystitis, and only when he was having an attack of it would he do that...I remember you saying that one of your kitties has a susecptibility to cystitis. Maybe something's not right with him? I once asked the vet about why Tron would do that when he had cystitis, and he said he didn't know, but lots of cats changed their potty spots when they weren't well, and often chose places like the sink or tub. Thanks, guys. Yeah, well, first I have to find out what's wrong. Do you have any idea how hard it is to sit and wait to find out the results of biopsies?????? It's nigh impossible. I can't start getting well 'til I know what is going on...and I want to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to jump, I want to stop being so exhausted, I want to go out and have fun, not do two things around the house and then need a nap. I want to be able to sit for 90 minutes and then stand without my back trying to break in half because of cramps...I want to spend more than an hour at the office before I have to come home because it hurts.
