Stupid ass people who strap wireless devices to the side of their head
hexadecimal replied to funks's topic in The Bonfire
A friend of mine is like this with his girlfriend... they've been dating for 5 years and still can't go 10 minutes without being on the phone with each other. He constantly either calls her mid-conversation, or gets a call from her, and disappears for 30-45 minutes to talk to her. -

Agreed. I'm also sick of seeing 99% of the people on the road with a cell phone glued to their ear constantly while driving. I'm convinced that most of them aren't even on the phone with anyone... they just haven't realized that it's not 1993 anymore, and cell phones no longer make you look special. -
It wasn't only Adobe... it was pretty much everyone. I just finally got my studio back in order with properly functioning versions of audio apps from OS9 in OSX a little over a year ago... and now we get to deal with this shit all over again.

I have no idea on the dimensions... I was just making observations based on the pictures from the website.

Embarrassing student "tricks"
hexadecimal replied to labrys's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Exited at 17k AGL... brain locked up completely. Exited before my instructor was ready and didn't respond to her hand signals. I ended up passing anyway, because I did perform the maneuvers I was supposed to perform (just not very smoothly because I was tensed up and didn't pay attention to the "relax" signal my instructor was frantically trying to get me to see) and had a perfect unassisted landing. On one of my early jumps (I think AFP4), I turned away from and almost backslid into my instructor while I was deploying. -
Love the non descript option... "What's this?" "Oh nothing... just a soft, fleshy coin slot in a flashlight case." "Oh... ok"

The DZO told you that you were way past due for a downsize at 20 jumps?

Here's what I've got on the way: http://www.chasecam.com/recorders/pdr.htm They also sell 580 line bullet cameras to go along with the recorders.

So Sunny has 1000 jumps and has NEVER BEEN PIED!

As far as I'm concerned... the first jump she makes with me or in my presence this season is her 1000th and subject to pie -

Thanks Tom... I ended up just linking to this thread. -

Tom, Would you mind if I quoted your post and re-posted it on my home DZ's forum? I think some people there would be interested in helping out. -
That's pie? It looks like someone sprayed you with one of the soap dispensers at a car wash Congrats.

This thread made me gag a little. -
Set up pillows and couch cushions about 10 feet from a trampoline, and tried to do various flips off the trampoline and land on the cushions. Went fine... until I missed. Took a sled off a 20ft (or so) cliff thinking I could land and continue down the hill. Went as planned... I landed on my head and continued tumbling down the hill. Played a game we called "shitballs" when I was into paintball. At the end of the night, we'd gather all the paintballs we had left and load up. Every man for himself, no long sleeved shirts allowed (t-shirts only), and the only way to be out is to run out of air or paint (and people can still shoot at you as you're leaving the field). At the end of the game, you could play connect the dots with the bloody welts we were covered with if you wanted to. We did this on a regular basis Tried to jump over a car on my bike. Ended up jumping into the side of it instead. There are lots of others... but those ones stick out in my memory.

I disagree. If I'm handing Apple $2,000+ for a new machine... and they're charging me for an update to make an application I already paid almost $1,000 for function properly on that machine, how is that a good deal? It's not the $49/app that pisses me off, it's the principle. It could be $1/app and I'd still feel the same way.

I'm aware of that. It's ridiculous either way.

I usually do a hop & pop to start off every weekend at the DZ.

I think he meant 200/month for the garage alone.
-
I like golf... so I guess the second one. They're both ugly, though.
-
Wait... they're actually going to make me PAY for that? That's not exactly the best way to encourage me to buy an Intel-based Mac, which I'm already skeptical of
