  1. I have found Harrison Beaumont http://www.hbinsurance.co.uk/ very reasnable. You dont have to go for an extream sports package (this meens that you cant do lots of other "extream" sports). For a 1 year Multi-Trip Worldwide cover, with Skydiving as an activity, I payed £113. I have made a claim with them before, for a non skydiving insident (alost watch) and they paid up with no problems. As stated in this month Mag, watch out for companies that only allow for 10 jumps, or trips that are have not got "The main purpous of trip" clause Also make sure the it does have "repatriation cover" Withoout this, you could end up in serious debt. Harrison Beaumont also do equipment insurance, which is worth thinking about. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  2. Reading thier faq page (http://www.electricalvault.co.uk/faq.htm) It seems to me that in the end only a small percentage of people that pay up will actualy get the item. A bit of a lottery. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.

  4. One I quite like is http://www.boreme.com/ -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  5. Did you know that in some states it is illegal for both married and single Skydivers to post a thread on a forum that has already been mentioned in the last ten years -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  6. The UK probably wont get HDTV till next year Sky keep putting it back. Cant wait till it is available here. But having a good souround sound system still makes my DVDs sound and look good. As for you hissing, have you used good quality interconects. Cables should make up about 10% of the HI FI cost, and this is an area whre lots of people skip. Why spen £700 on an amp £500 on a DVD playe and link them with £5 cables. I recon most people do not realise the kind of experience you can get from a dvd, untill they hear it on a quality system. I have been to cinemas that sound worse than my system. Mind you I bought all that before I took up skydiving, and havend't upgraded any of my system since...... and I have no regrets...... -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  7. if money is of no concideration. (sorry Iwan if this will cost you more) are you aware of portable media players. They will play all your music plus play movies. Iriver do this one http://www.iriveramerica.com/prod/multi/pmp_140.aspx -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  8. My understanding is that you have to use client software on your PC. This will convert then to the iTune format on your device. This does not mean they need to be downloaded from the iTune site. However, it dose mean you cant plug you iPod into your mates PC and then copy all you music to them as MP3s You also cant use them as portable hard drives. Please correct me if I am worng. Ive just read your last quote.... iPods are the coolest ever.... and if you want to stay totaly leagle with your music they will do everything you want. Not that I am saying I would break the law. (Just glad that we dont have the DMCA or RIAA here) -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  9. If I was you I would seriously consider the iRiver range http://www.iriveramerica.com/ One of the main disadvantages of the iPod is that the DRM is very tight, and only alows you to play iTunes. With other makes you can play any MP3 of OG files you have acces to. You can also use them as protable Hard Drives. Which can be very usefull form moveing large files between PCs. However if you purley want to play leagle DRM protected music, on a stylish desiner peice of fashon, then go for an ipod -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  10. Why get an Ipod when Irever and Creative both make technicaly better and more feature rich products. As far as I can see, the only reason to get an Ipod is as a fashon statment. Other Hard Drive media players, that dont look as good have far more/better features. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  11. Check out the full animation here http://www.rgstudios.com/English/index_E.htm# I am sure there has been a thread about this befroe somwhere -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  12. On a nice warm summers night, I do enjoy a pint of Hoegaarden, whilst sitting by the Thames chatting with friends and watching the boats, ducks and swans go by...... -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  13. How about a good Bittish Bitter like Flowers, Greenking IPA, Old Speclked Hen etc. And calling Fosters a fancy Import is beyond a joke.... Nothing fancy about that rubish. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  14. Or even worse.... it teleported you, and left your rig behind . -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  15. As skydiving videos go, they are not worth saving.. (I use skydiving movies for that) I just thought it was quite interesting that all sorts of companies are using skydiving in their advertising. I am fairly new to the sport. But it seems that latley it has become a lot more prevelent within the media. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  16. NTL are using a tandem skydive to demonstrate the speed of their Broadband Click on http://www.ntl.com/broadband_demo/1_5mb/ And select video streaming. I definetly think that you need broadband to view most of clips on skydivingmovies. There seems to be a lot of Skydiving ads at the moment. Does anyone out there work in advertising? -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  17. This all depends on what you want to use it for. If you want to use it for video editing, photoshop, etc or music + internet stuff Get a Mac. However if you want to play lots of the latest games get a PC. On the Dell side of things, they do use a lot of proprietry parts, which can make them ard to work on, upgrade etc. But If you want one to place on your desk and not touch for the next 3 years they are good. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  18. When I was a student and did not have a lot of money, and the aim was to get drunk quickley. We used to order a drink called the "Purple Bastard" This is a snake bite (half pint of strong lager and halfpint of strong cider) and mixed into this was a Pernod and blackcurent. For some reason the UK govenment banned pubs from selling this type of thing. But when I was a teen, it was quite common -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.

  20. There is always a bit of kite flying available http://www.boreme.com/bm/JAN05/a/kite-flying/fr.htm -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  21. One of the best books on the subject is "Trekking in the Everest Region" by Jamie Mc Gunness ISBN 1 873756 60 7 The trek I went on did not involve any serious climbing. It was walking about 6 hours a day. On the second day, the trek to Namch Bazzar is very hard work, after that it is not too hard until the last day when you reach the peak. As long as you are reasnobly fit you will be able to manage it. In the goup I went with I only knew 2 other, but everyone got on very well. Porters where orgonised to carry all your luggage up, so all you have to worry about are things you need that day. I am sure there are a lot of cheaper ways to do it, but I dought there are any easier. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.

  23. I went there a couple of years ago. If you can you deffinetly have to go. I went with a company called Himalayan Kingdoms. ( http://www.himalayankingdoms.com/ ). And I could not say a bad word about them. If you want a well run trip with no hastle of orgonasation, pick them. If you do go make sure you go to a peak called Kala Pattar, it is in the same area as Base camp, but it is a peak on 18,100ft with the most amazing view I have ever seen. I have put some pics on my webs site ( I know it is the worst designed site in the world, It is only there to share photos) www.plindstrand.co.uk -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
  24. hmmmm 42... If only I knew the question..... I know.... I'll design a computer to work it out... What would be a good name for it? -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
