This has probably been posted 100's of times before by people like me, but.... I'm about to get myself a camera and helmet. I am thinking of getting a Cookie Mxv and a Sony DCR-HC42, with a liquid wide angle lense. I know this is not the best camera in the world, but I need to make a compromise between price, fitting in a helmet, skydive use and user for family and other occasions. I have just watched this story on the National News in the UK. This has now turned into an International story. I am sure that they showed exactly the same interview that has been showed everywhere else. The media obviously trusts each other and do not check up on stories that they buy. It also shows how carefull anyone needs to be before speaking to the press. The Kenya Boogie was awesome. Hot weather, white sand, palms trees, stunning views from altitude. Several raft and inflatable jumps, and an orange jump, that has to be seen to be believed (26 people, 400 oranges…..) The load organising was very good (thanks a lot for that Caroline, you did a excellent job). We did some real fun big ways. Did a 13K hop and pop, in shorts a t-shirt, and was not cold. And the views are stunning. There is something there for everyone, from AFF courses to the most experienced. The Twin Otter is a good size and get to altitude in a good time. At this time of year, when the weather turns cold, it is a place you have to go. There is even a air conditioned packing room, as well as packers (if you are felling a bit lazy) There is even the chance to take a couple of days of from skydiving and go on safari, scuba dive, kite surf, etc…. There probably are ways around, but they will probably end up with you breaking your company policies, which could end up with you losing your job. It all depends on what you want to do with it. Dell are good, but not if you want to upgrade them later. There is a lot of proprietry stuff in there. And cables are not regular lenghts etc. If you plan on upgradeing and working on it yourself, don't have a dell. If you want a box that you will never open, Dells can be pretty good. Personaly I have a PC that everything inside is "Off The Shelf" if anything goes wrong, I can fix it myself, I can upgrade how I want, I know exactly what is there, and how to support it myself, without having to rely on a helpline -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.

I've seen a realy cool video of that. guy headdown with plane next to him, with the camera angle making them both look horizontal, like the guy was keeping up with the palne. If you are a MST3K fan they did one called "The Skydivers" (MST3K-0609 if you want the exact episode) I found it very funny, but you have to appreciate their sence of humour. I clicked on here to see if I could vote for the worst. There are a few good one. Drop Zone.... cos Every Porter has a trap door, and a PC-6 Turbine can easily misfire. Johny English.... On the first jump, in the dark , land on a ledge.... also they jumped without a helmet, and landed with a Z1 Bridget Jones.... Dosent everyone on there first jump wear a camers suit, and camera... also here breaks where still stowed.... must have landed on rear riser... The list goes on. I did AFF, so I cant coment on anyother system. However I would say that having the jumps on video made a massive difference. After every jump I had a video debrief. My instructor could point out my uneven legs, and the fact I kept droping my knees. What you think you are doing, is somtimes not what you are actuly doing. So in my opinion (which is not worth a lot) go for a system that has a video of every jump. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
