Has anyone traded in their Mirage container toward a new one? If so, how much did they offer you, and do you think it was reasonable? Thanks. edit: I had asked them if they could resize my container to accomodate a smaller main. Kristin emailed on Monday morning for my serial # so they could properly check on my question, and then Ward emailed me with the trade-in offer later the same day because he said they could not adjust it for me. I am calling Tuesday the 19th to talk to him about it. I just wondered if anyone else had done this.

i have a g4 with the mod done and it looks exactly the same as before. you may want to have another rigger that has done many mods look at the quality of work on your mod, or just find another rigger that is used to managing the the bulk properly so that the flap sits normally.

I posted earlier but I wanted to make it perfectly clear (though I can tell from your responses to people with 10 times my experience that you're intent on being stupid): I put 300 jumps on a sabre2 170 at a 1.28:1 wingloading before downsizing. I still stayed with a sabre2 which is an awesome canopy provided you have experience flying it, which you don't at 38 jumps or even 138 jumps. I was getting awesome swoops from the 170 because I took a canopy control course and got canopy piloting coaching from very experienced pilots --yes I said swoops on a sabre2 170. Even 100 jumps for a beginner on an unfamiliar canopy is nowhere near enough time or experience under the wing, so you don't have the skills you think you have. Switching to a much smaller and way faster, not to mention elliptical, stilletto, will most likely have you broken or dead within a few jumps - just a sad fact. Check out the Incidents forum and you'll see how many people like you have excellent canopy flying skills, or so they thought until they smashed into the ground. I demo'd a couple different canopies, one 10 times in a day and then jumped it the next day again, before deciding which canopy I would actually go with. Try a sabre2 150 if you're intent on downsizing, but I recommend you stay at or above a 150. The sabre2 170 and 150 are excellent choices and will give you all the performance that you can get out of it. A Stilletto 120 is a canopy I personally would not fly for another 200 or 300 jumps (to give me almost 700). Even before the stilletto 120 I would fly a Stilletto 135 to get used to a elliptical before moving down again. I have a sabre2 135 now and I know when I had 38, 138, and 238 jumps that I was nowhere near ready for this canopy. I know from flying the 135 about 40 times that a 120 is not a good choice for me yet. When you got your drivers license did you immediately get a Porsche 911 turbo that was way too fast for you to handle? Sure, you could drive it when everything was perfect conditions, but what happens when everything goes to shit? That's right, you have an accident because you couldn't control it in some unforseen event. It's the same thing with parachutes. Start out with a slower canopy you can control and as you gain experience you can move on. It doesn't matter how ready you think you are for a regular 120 let alone a stilletto 120, you are not ready for it plain and simple. Yeah, you're right, I've never seen you fly your canopy, but at 38 jumps you can't do anything to impress me or probably anyone with more than 38 jumps. Just the truth-

I've had one for the past 300+ jumps and I love it. It is very comfortable, never moves out of position, and is easily seen from either belly or freefly positions. Your hands and fingers are totally free. Worth every penny. As for wear and tear: Mine still looks brand new even after 300+ jumps with it.

at least is would keep the "bad press" from their dropzone

It was obvious. I just didn't feel like scrolling to the top. I thought it was understood I was referring to saxboy and not you. The sarcasm was soooooooooo thick you'd have to be brain dead not to notice. Matt

I only have 383 jumps and recently downsized from a sabre2 170 that I put almost 300 jumps on to a sabre2 135. The difference between the two is huge even though they are the same style but lessor in square feet. The smaller canopy is so much faster up high and especially down low that if you do not have the skills to fly it, you will really hurt yourself right away, if not kill yourself. I personally believe the switch from my 300+ jumps on the sabre2 170 to a stilletto 120 would be way too much for me to handle even though I am silly and like to do crazy things. I flew the sabre2 150 many times while deciding on which size canopy to go with. The only reason (I believe) I can handle this smaller canopy is because of canopy coaching, a canopy course (Scott Miller's), and many many jumps on the same canopy to gain experience and knowledge so that when I finally decided to move to a smaller wing that I would not panic nor have trouble flying the smaller canopy. In other words, do not move to ANY canopy below a 170, let alone a stilletto, which is elliptical, whereas you've only flown at best a semi-elliptical sabre2. Please don't make the people at your dropzone watch you hit hard. Even if you end up some how walking away, it will stick with them for a long time. That sickening thud, makes me cringe just mentioning it, is the worst thing to see or even feel when the ground shakes beneath your feet. Please rethink what you are wanting to do. Matt

Army. After thinking about it, I only had to tell them once for the consent, but they always ask if I'm going anyway so I tell them. They don't give me shit, I think they just think it's cool that I do it.

I'm not sure what is actually written in the SGLI rules but I know they look for any way possible to not pay out, ie. seatbelt not on, alcohol in blood above the law of that state, possibly skydiving, etc. I know I am required to tell my comander when I am going skydiving to inform them and to basically get their consent.

What WLing did you start swooping at?

haha... and people on my dz freaked when someone went to a 1.4 at 300 jumps -
why not? if you got the days and it's awesome outside, take it. you earn those days for a reason.

I took off four years while I was in the Army and then went to West Point. Four years was what I needed before going back to school.

Army sniper course 5-99. We used the netting in a similar fashion and then added gutted 550 chord in different areas so we could tie down natural vegetation. The Ghillie Suit is only a "base of camoflage" to which you add natural vegetation once you are in your staging/preparation area before heading to engage the target. I used a gerber to help push and pull the large needles through the tough BDU material to make it easier on your fingers. We sewed every couple inches and then put shoe goo on top of each stitch so friction would not wear them away. I've had and used my original suit for the past 6 years and it's fine to use still. Make it right the first time and you're good for a long time. Matt

He shot a boy off a moving bicycle at 2500 yards. The boy was transporting multiple AK-47s to the enemy which made him a legitimate target. He used a M2 Browning 50 cal Machine Gun that was affixed with a scope and tuned to only fire one round at a time, but none the less a machine gun which is a far cry from the custom made 50 cal bolt action sniper weapon system that we use today and was used by the canadians in a-stan.
