  1. bleah:bleah:bleah All numbers should be vastly improved this coming weekend, though. Hooty HOO! Skydiving is for cool people only
  2. Those are crossports. They allow air to flow from cell to cell. No worries. I freaked out the first time I figured out they were there too. Skydiving is for cool people only
  3. That was a good article. Tracking one, right? It made me feel more secure about my super-flat, but slow track. Skydiving is for cool people only
  4. From you, that's quite an endorsement! I'm slowly becoming a member of the Wings lovefest on this site.

    Turn Me On

Yeah, I'm at work. Y'all entertain me with your erotic thoughts. Skydiving is for cool people only
  7. When I did my coach course at San Marcos, a turbine DZ, we were told to have the student just double-check the GPS spot. No course corrections. Stick your head out the door, make sure you can make it back to the DZ, and that's "spotting." Skydiving is for cool people only
  8. Just call. They won't yell at you. Skydiving is for cool people only
  9. *muttering* At last, my blood lust can be sated!!!!!!!! Oh, that was sarcasm. Shit. Skydiving is for cool people only
  10. I'm not willing to see my popularity broken down into percentages. It would give me a complex. If this is a commentary on how unruly Talkback has gotten, though, I like the idea of a Talkback posting limit. Maybe, like, 10 posts a day to the Talkback forum per user. I dunno if that's programmable though. Skydiving is for cool people only
  11. I jumped a PD 170 for a long time, and I got the best results just pushing the nose all the way back, kind of gently shaking it to get it all the way in. Quarter the slider aggressively, and roll the hell out of the tail. Openings were quick, but comfortable. Most people recommend rolling the nose, and I did that for a while, but I thought the openings were too unpredictable. Skydiving is for cool people only
  12. It's a familiar feeling for me, aggressiveness. Skydiving is for cool people only
  13. I wasn't aware that waivers typically gave comprehensive information on wing loadings and their effects. We're talking about ethical responsibility. To me, Joe's being a jerk and knowingly recommending stupid gear equates to his being ethically responsible for that jumper's injury. Skydiving is for cool people only
  14. The lizard's thinking the same thing about you! Skydiving is for cool people only
  15. Yeah, but maybe you're new to the planet and aren't aware how bad jumping off a bridge could hurt you. Maybe Joe's your best source of information about the sport. Maybe you trust him, because he taught you how to skydive. Maybe you haven't spent hours reading about wingloadings on dropzone.com, and believe what Joe tells you. Skydiving is for cool people only
  16. This is an interesting question. I have zero medical training, so if I landed next to someone who was badly hurt, I really wouldn't be much use to them. I've also noticed that at the bigger DZs I frequent, right or wrong as it may be, it sometimes takes a while to notice that someone is missing, especially if they were on a solo or something. In my case, I think it would be a hundred times better for me to land at the dropzone, burst into manifest, and tell them what happened. My contributions in such situations tend to be driving the medically trained people out to the jumper in my truck. Skydiving is for cool people only
  17. I keep my baby in Columbus, Ohio. But my rig sleeps on my bed, packed in a gear bag. No shit -- I have a king size bed and I only use about a third of it. The rest is for my skydiving stuff. Skydiving is for cool people only
  18. Me too! Let's say, 5:30 Bytch time. I'm in the terrible twos of my jumping career. No wonder I'm so bad at it. Skydiving is for cool people only
  19. Let us know what they say. I'd be surprised if they were willing to give you expensive merchandise for free when they've offered to fix it quickly, but hey, you never know. Skydiving is for cool people only
  20. I remember youuuuuuuuuuu! Only because the last two letters in your name stand for FUCK YOU. Good to see you. Skydiving is for cool people only
  21. Interesting. The abitrary goal I've set for myself is to make 200 jumps this year by the last day of summer, ~Sept. 21. So, that's 200/9.66, or about 20.7 jumps a month. In Jan., I made 8. I'd better get cracking. Skydiving is for cool people only
  22. 0 cool things to put here:3:0 I'm using up my vacation time at an alarming rate, but oh well. I took Saturday off and went out to the DZ. We have a King Air instead of an Otter now, and a crapload of tandems, so it was hard to get on a load. Still hella fun though! Someone told me I'll make a really good coach. That made my day. 23. That's right! Good thing we have other things in common, like rigging! Skydiving is for cool people only
  24. So then don't use them. I don't get why it's any skin off people's nose if other adults choose to use doctor-prescribed medication. That's part of what contributes to the stigma surrounding those meds. I needed them for literally years before I finally acquiesced and started taking them, because I didn't want to be "weak." Kids are, of course, a different situation. Skydiving is for cool people only
  25. YEAH! Right on! Depression cheer! That's right! And you deserved it. Speed, Zennie made all my points better than I would've. But consider this: I don't disagree with you that these kinds of drugs may be overprescribed. But let me ask you this. How long would you like your nephew to have to be sad? Last February -- that's a year. That's a long time to spend every day struggling just to go on. I'm not being dramatic. That's the truth. Some people can take traumatic things OK. They go through grief, they go through depression, it's horrible, it's hard, but it's a normal process. Other people react differently. For some, events like that can trigger something they were prone to anyway. And that's when you get into real, honest-to-God, bio-chemical depression. And in that situation, drugs are legit.
