President Bush Endorses Intelligent Design?
AlexCrowley replied to tmontana's topic in Speakers Corner
With regards to theistic beliefs of creation. I grew up Church of England (episcopal?), the creation was considered a nice story but not a real story. Evolution was accepted as how things happened with God being 'The Big Bang'. It's amazing how cleanly the relious and scientific side fit together. I am not a christian, but their version never seemed contradictory. It wasnt til I heard about US creationists and the 6000 year wackiness that I discovered people actually believe a translated bible literally. The problem is mostly in context. Back in college my philosophy teacher introduced me to Strongs dictionaries. In the same way the fable says Eskimos have 27 words for snow you'll see the same in the Bible. For instance, the greek texts have many words which were translated down as 'faith', there are two primary roots and 6 or 7 others that are used throughout the texts. Each of these words have different contexts, different synonyms that could easily create a very different truth. Personally I've never thought that perhaps the translation teams for the KJV were Gods little helpers to correct every mistake that was in the original language versions - but I guess that's a possibility. You'd imagine that God being God would have added an afterward, perhaps an 'Introduction to the Complaet and Revised Modern Bible aka "What I really meant to say" by God. oops tangent. What was my point? Oh yeah. Very few Xtians I've ever met believe that the Bible is the exact word of god. It is a very small extremist sect that holds those beliefs. For the rest of the Christian world both God and Evolution exist in perfect harmony. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking. -
how long will civilisation as we know it last.

If we kill a billion people perhaps. Our consumption strips our output, only by greatly reducing consumption will the equation balance. One of the first programs I ever did was the rabbit/fox life cycle in BASIC (for ZX Spectrum). When there were lots of rabbits you could have lots of foxes, til all the foxes ate most of the rabbits, then the foxes starved out til there were a lot of rabbits again. Unfortunately any ecologically friendly method has been substantially more destructive because of the volume of use compared to the population 100 years ago. We are running out of water because of concentrated agribusiness, we are running out of fossil fuels because of domestic consumption and the additional demands of rapidly industrializing 2nd world countries. Let alone the damage we're causing to the food chain with GM crops (see: patenting is a really bad idea, and 'ohhh is that how pollen dispersal really happens? my bad'), genetic damage to meat and poultry from both farming methods and contaminated environmental issues, general business polutions. Incorrect food quotas (oh you mean if we count all fish as X and base quotas on X we're in a decreasing cycle cos we didnt take parenting age fish into account!? Yup, thats why fishstocks are depleting rapidly). Volume is the killer, but I'd still argue that ecologically we've found all new ways to mess up the biosphere. BTW I'm a meat eating fatalist, rather than some tree hugging hippy. If we use the historical record as a guideline (re-read that, it's important) the US is entering the same point that Rome did before it's fall. That's if you count civilization as being a predominant mindset (greeks, romans, british empire, United States). TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking. -
...........of course, the one time I think GMs being funny and I respond in kind a moderator shows up. Snippy looks different, has less smileys and runs for several paragraphs. Or havent you seen my posts before? TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

Heh I've been spending my last two weeks doing this in every spare moment (which are rare things, it equals about 40 minutes of play time). Apparently to the non-dropzone community this is called Stunting, which sounds more like it shoudl be about juvenile smoking. www.gtastunting.com I think. Ahhh but thats where your wrong. This "gravity" thing is merely a theory. Where's representation for the 'Earth Sucks' theory which is just as valid as the whole 'Gravity' thing. Sure, on a microcosmic scale one could say that 'gravity' exists, as it has been shown too in lab experiments. However, no one has been able to prove on a macrocosmic scale that the Earth is not sucking. Experiments on the moon have shown that there is far LESS of this gravity stuff available. This is because, quite obviously, more people enjoy seeing the Moon in the sky, so it does not suck quite as much. Please, get your science straight before attempting to join in a discussion dealing with such complex concepts as gravity, evolution, and god, sucks. Kolla, I understand where you're coming from. I think the Neptune is awesome, or I wouldnt have bought one - I dont just go 'ooo shiny' and drop $250 :) wellllllllll sometimes, but not in this case. I was really upset when a firmware upgrade killed it after having it out of the box for less than 2 hours - but my rep was cool, I was more upset that it's taken more than two weeks to get repaired. That and I was hoping for free alti-2 tshirts I'm really looking forward to having it back, my other alti is also an Alti-2 product. As a person who's spent his life buying and working along side boutique musical instruments I understand that you guys all do your very best for us, and I appreciate it. So sensitive? For those who aren't keeping score, it was from when you challenged me to bet my months salary against yours as to who earned the most. (see: "is this about dick size?" from the original thread) Since the lady in question is real and the conversation is real can you explain to me why you consider this a personal attack? Escorts do exist outside of my imagination, and this one costs $350 for 90 minutes, would you like her contact info? I felt your original challenge was laughable and illustrated enough about your psyche that I didnt feel attacking you further was necessary. Now you'd have me believe that you're sensitive enough that you're crying foul based on an anecdote that plays into your original challenge? Ok, attacks are rarely along the lines of [insert situation which graphically shows the stupidity of a previous comment] and are usually along the lines of [insert ad hominem attack on the poster]. I'm really confused as to why you'd see this as an attack. Perhaps a very clear demonstration of why your macho salary bet two weeks ago was bloody stupid, but an attack? The only possible way that could be considered such is if you felt that somehow I was calling you a whore, but to go that far would require a level of insecurity that I could not fathom without a negative reaction from someone else. Urm, sorry for unintentionally calling you a whore. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

More interestingly, I'd don't think he's representing the majority of Republicans, or the majority of conservatives, or even the majority of his own constituency. Ya gotta represent. It's the basic rule of republican (the type, not the party) democracy. Yeah, I should have been clearer, that comment was in response to the poster who said "I dont think he represents republicans" TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

Aids is spreading like wildfire due to unsafe sexual practices. I think this sort of thing should be stopped. BAN BLACK PEOPLE FROM FUCKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BLACKS, PUT THOSE DICKS AWAY, NO MORE PUSSY FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially those damn Africans! Now Im just basing my info on the fact that my company's involved in working with 60 health organizations across North America and we regularly provide both consumer and medical professional education and leadership on areas of sexual health and wellness, and that my boss has been a keynote speaker at both the US and World AIDs conferences this year. I'd be more than happy to discuss sexual health issues domestically and internationally any time you're ready. I'm quite happy to just mention that Santorum's talking out of his ass and I dont think he's representing much of the human race with his statements. (I'm still trying to work out where a father of 4 junkie isnt as extreme an example as a cop blowing a red light). So anyway, I was talking to this chick who's an escort and she makes WAY more money than me per month. She practices safe sex. And votes democrat. oil for food. the Kofi Annan and french connection
AlexCrowley replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
What I say next has nothing to do with conspiracy...... Fox news has a similar reputation in the US as the Telegraph does in the UK for giving exclusive reports based on intelligence made available. Now, I have no interest or care if this is true or not. I can only talk about the George Galloway 'intelligence' that smeared him, and judging from the physical evidence made availabe it was, to say the least, questionable. Perhaps it was a copy of an original report (but then, that would make it completely worthless if we follow recent news). Maybe I find villification of the french in general distasteful, which is odd cos I'm English and we HATE the french, more the the Americans, so much so that we never felt the need to change the name of our fries, but we did have that whole 100 year war thing. Plus they're french. Anyway, villification - umm yeah, the intelligence on the whole iraq stuff isnt really considered pristine or valid on the whole except by the CIA and Mi6, after all - they'd know, they wrote it TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking. -
I think its a simple equation: Gitmo is a travesty. Those with their eyes open who have read the reports of those released understand my meaning. Gitmo represents a terrifying part of the US public's psyche, one that I feel has been manipulated openly since 9/11. Torture, illegal incarceration of foriegn nationals, illegal incarceration of US nationals. the US simply changes the definitions to remove culpability, and the public idly sits by and thinks that 'you reap what you sow', without understanding the magnitude of the crime, or the numbers of people released with NO charges, totally innocent after many months in a cell. These are the reasons liberals throw out the Nazi monicker - the manipulation of a basically moral and good, yet ignorant public to accept a situation that would be considered morally repugnant and anti-american in saner times. Even sadder, it's had no quantifiable impact, led to no major incarcerations and merely sullied the US image - not that our human rights record was pristine, but it was better than most South American and 3rd world dictatorships. Hmmm wow, that *is* weird. Why not just park illegally? return rail tickets!? Not exactly damning evidence of a coverup. I can think of reasons: 1. most people buy return rail tickets, if you're going somewhere you usually want to come back. Off the top of my head I dont know if the London rail system uses computer tracking like Air companies, but I do know that buying a one way ticket on a plane sets off security alarms. 2. Post bombing confusion. In the aftermath of a terrorist attack the officials are going to play 'look for the darkie with the one way ticket', what better way to confuse everyone than by buying a return ticket just like everyone else? So buying a return ticket and paying for parking seems obvious to me, but then I've spent years breaking and securing systems, and *everything* is a system. Since each religion can claim it's own share of miracles, including those religions we giggle at and think are for weirdos only it would seem to make sense that God is pretty tolerant of our imaginations, and that he/she/it's quite happy to follow whatever rules we want to set for he/she/it. Unless you're in one of those weirdo duality religions where anything not god is anti-god - cos then you have an excuse for anything. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

LOL appears to have an agenda? You hadn't noticed that til you posted the link? Oooops! I just noticed, they have an agenda, it was so subtle I missed it until just now when I realized that someone may actually check out my source and see that it's run by a bunch of people that make Fox news seem Fair and Balanced. I wouldnt laugh except you remind me of myself 10 years ago when I crusaded for 'truth' and begged the world to open their eyes to the lies they were being fed. Except I sourced my material at least three times and avoided making inflamatory statements without being damn sure of every fact. Generally you just strike me as a lazy conspiracy theorist who doesnt do much homework of his own and merely parrots whatever fringe story is doing the rounds that week. "truth" is an interesting thing, it's never quite as concrete as we assume it to be, especially when we only hear it from third and fourth hand sources and rarely do we have access to enough information to make an informed decision regarding it's morality. Just one of the reasons I'm no longer sure of anything absolute :) I guess "they" got to me! TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
