  1. Still could be a false rumor. What are the odds of you picking that combo of initials Guru? Where is Orange when we need her? How did you pick LD? (oh, now I see on your link, transcription error turned DB into LD) 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  2. Actually the US Attorney for that district would move for dismissal of the indictment, but thats a trivial point. I cant wait to see if this case is really over. If it was LD what a truly amazing feat. And with radios no less. And Marla, our reigning Cooper queen, could she have actually solved one of the biggest crime mysteries of the 20th century? I should have asked her to autograph my Cooper bill authentication certificate. Maybe I'll get another chance someday. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 3. Whoa! mama, can this really be the end? To be stuck in sight of Portland, with the Cooper blues again. Is Georger going to have to eat some radio crow??? I want one of those walkie talkies to go with my LD twenty. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  4. Airtwardo wrote Airtwardo somehow convinced a red hot airline pilot to marry a barnstorming stunt jumper. What a salesman! What does your better half think about the Cooper case Airtwardo, or is this addiction kept secret from her? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 5. Airtwardo wrote Well, for one reason a 727 would burn at least 1200 gallons an hour flying low. When you add everything up you are probably looking at something around $6500 an hour, maybe more. Couldnt you do a perfect 727 simulation from a firewalled CASA 212? MUCH cheaper to operate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CASA_C-212_Aviocar I did a few of those firewalled CASA jumps at WFFC. They seemed nearly identical to the jet experience, i.e. a tailgate high speed exit. According to the CASA pilots we were doing about 210 mph on jump run. Wouldnt that just be awful to have pulled off Norjack and lost ALL the money? Marla's story seems to have most or all the money being lost by LD. No wonder the guys were pissed. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  6. So Georger, If it turns out to be LD and he used radios to meet a ground accomplice, how will you feel? It would make my day, thats for sure. Breaker breaker. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  7. Jo, On short final approach to PDX last weekend I look out the left window and what do I see? The Red Lion. It did make me think of you. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  8. Georger wrote Hey Georger, Marla included the radios because she likes me. She made them Midland 5 watt units because she like Blevins. The Dan Cooper comics inclusion was obviously for Snowmman, who may have been lurking at the symposium. How can I be sure the guy I know really is Snowmman? I didn't see Marla incorporating any of your favorite Cooper things. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  9. Farflung wrote: Great poster attached to your post Farflung. Keep em coming. You are the official poet laureate of the Cooper Vortex, and probably the artist in residence as well. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  10. Amazon wrote Sometimes, when big swells are running, that comment applies to the whole region around the Columbia River Bar. I've been scared real bad there a few times. Imagine a boat loaded down with 80,000 lbs of fish and a top speed of 7.8 knots. There are no marine reserve or AAD equivalents that will save you if you mess up running that bar. It's like BASE jumping. So Amazon, what's your Tena Bar theory? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  11. That Tena Bar money is so damned frustrating!!!! You really messed things up Brian. Can't we just ignore the decrepit cash and proceed with our favorite theories about the flight path and exit point? While we are at it, forget the placard too. Now then, let's get on with our important work. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  12. Didn't Rat want to airdrop a Thanksgiving meal to the Dungeness Crabs lurking off Clatsop Spit? They'd have picked Cooper to the bone. Those Dungies don't leave much. Ask Amazon. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  13. OK Georger. I'll make it simpler. Forget the snide remark that formerly preceded my question. I now ask only this: How do YOU think the cash got to Tena Bar? Pretend this is a Federal Grand Jury. You've been granted immunity. You can't dodge the question or plead the fifth. You can't even have counsel present. If you don't answer you will soon be making some very close friends in a place with free room and board. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  14. Georger, It's easy taking shots at everyone else's Tena Bar explanation. How do YOU think it got there? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  15. Jo wrote Jo, Did you hand them Duanes safe deposit box key? The bank can't open it without two keys, their key and the customer key. I remember in some criminal case where the cops got a search warrant for a safe deposit box and the bank had to drill out the customer lock cylinder. Something sounds"off" about the story about the bank opening it outside of your presence. Banks have all sorts of procedures to protect against claims that they have pilfered box contents. I can't see them exposing themselves to such a claim by insisting on opening it out of your sight. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  16. Jerry wrote I think the chances of a thief tossing serious money out is nearly zero. There has to be another explanation as to how the money got to Tena Bar. It's just an opinion, but I've represented a lot of criminals and not one of them would have let go of $5800 in hard cash to send a message. They'd find another way. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  17. You think THIS is dysfunctional? You should have heard Marla Cooper talk about her family, seriously. How about an enraged alcoholic relative sweeping all the Thanksgiving food off the table and screaming at everyone to eat it off the floor? That was just an example, much more was experienced by her. I really think Marla has come a long way to have emerged from all that with a positive attitude and a cheerful demeanor. She made us all feel like a very normal family. Actually the vibe at the event was really warm, Internet foes became Symposium friends. Thanks Geoff. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  18. That detonation scared me. I saw a bright flash, heard a deafening boom and something big comes flying out of the bar area. Hangdiver was my wingman and didnt blink an eye. Neither did Raz. I tried to act all composed and non chalant, but jumpmasters can smell fear a mile away. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  19. Georger wrote Funny Georger, but don't kill our Kumbaya Facebooky Woodstocky vibe, OK? We have some ecstasy pills left over from the Symposium. Should I send you a few? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  20. You can probably jump at Lodi for $5 if you have an unused Pope Valley $5 jump ticket. I showed my unused ticket to Bill Dause at Lodi a couple of years ago and he said he'd take it. How's that for customer service? (Bill used to be the DZO at Pope Valley). It's a momento and worth more than a jump to me. I have a few unused jump tickets from various DZs that are gone and they bring back memories. Remember Skydive Santa Rosa? Crazy Creek? Livermore? Antioch? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  21. Jerry, Now that's a better way to have a dialogue. Better to argue facts than to just call Jo a liar. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  22. Quade, Sorry you werent at the symposium. I don't think you are a Cooperite, but you could have given some interesting insights on the Curse and its obsessive devotees. To me, one especially noteworthy symposium aspect was the rapport. Everybody got along really well. Venom is at an all time low. In this Cooper Kumbaya moment, How about letting Snow back on for a while and see how it goes? He really would add a lot of value, which, to most people here, more than offsets the irritation factor. Don't view it as a power struggle. Letting him back on isnt a surrender. Mercy is an admirable quality. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  23. Microfilming would be perfect for the job. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  24. You're right, it (mimeographing) is trivia, but this forum worships trivia at times. Hey Dan, if Cooper lands alive, how does he get out undetected? A stranger walking in any rural area in Oregon or Washington would be enough to trigger suspicion during the news flurry. You could stay away from dwelling and roads for a while, but eventually you need to get out of the area. I like the accomplice on the ground and radios etc., but I just don't see how you could make it work. Too many uncontrolled variables. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  25. ??? Do you mean photocopied? Kids in my elementary school used to get high sniffing mimeograph fluid. My recollection is that it wasnt a copying process. It used a typed or drawn master and then allowed rapid duplication in blue toned ink. Let's see what Wiki says. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimeograph 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver.
