  1. And you didn't even inquire about her book and who she was??? Freaky skinny blonde who is into DB Cooper? Bruce, did you also ignore her? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  2. Well said Jo. Lewis Carrol has nothing on you. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  3. Amazon, you ever see one of these? Definitely military and the innards look 60s 70s era circuit wise. No ICs. Hand held with pistol grip. It's a hand held radio direction finder. Powered by a standard 9 VDC transistor radio battery. Crystal has no freq marking. This DF is mentioned in a patent as being an ELT DF. http://www.google.com/patents/?vid=USPAT4410890&output=pdf See photos below. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 4. I talked with Sluggo at length and I sure wouldnt describe him as having an aura of negativity. He seemed to me to have a positive outlook. Has anyone heard from him recently? I do worry about him. He seems to have disappeared. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  6. Bruce, I see McTaggart's "field theory" as a construct to explain coincidences as something far more profound. If psychics could predict stock prices, or even material economic events, they could become instantly wealthy by making highly leveraged bets on derivatives. Show me just ONE who has done this and whose trade records are completely disclosed. People get anxious not knowing what's coming, so they invent ways to comfort themselves by believing they can see future events before they occur. There is also hindsight distortion, where something happens and the person it happens to believes they predicted it beforehand when that premonition didnt really happen. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 7. What irks me is that the US Govt spent at least 20 million and probably much more on remote viewing evaluation. Seems to me that Snowmman, Georger or Farflung could have designed and run a definitive test for a tiny fraction of that price. I hope the FBI didnt hire any psychics to work on the Norjack case. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  8. Back in the late 60s I watched a debate at UC Berkeley about paranormal research. The hard core engineers hammered on the fact that no positive results have ever been replicated by credible researchers. One panelist defending paranormal phenomena insisted that the very act of imposing double blinds or other rigorous experiment standards "kills" the phenomena you are researching. She insisted that you have to approach the subject with "an open mind" and if you start getting too "sciencey" the phenomena runs and hides. She was really pretty. I wanted to believe her, but physics and common sense prevailed and I turned by back to the Siren's call. So there you have it Farflung. The bad aura/karma of a million bucks and rigorous experiment conditions makes it pointless to try and claim the Randi prize. The remote viewing phemena/delusion has legs and a perfect immune system. It will live forever. I think remote viewing is a waste of time and will do nothing useful towards solving Norjack. Not that we cynical sceptical engineers and scientists have been doing anything more useful lately... 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  9. From Wikipedia artilce I'd love for remote viewing to work, but I think it has had ample opportunity to have its efficacy proven and has failed completely. The so called successes are anecdotal and some are downright dumb, like getting all excited about a remote viewer accurately "seeing" "a big crane" at a Soviet nuke facility he was tasked with "viewing." Many remote viewing experiment designs, even by credible institutions like SRI have been flawed and allowed clues to be passed to "viewers". Humans are remarkably clever at guessing, intuiting, etc... and coaxing clues from scientists who insist they are not providing any. If anyone can prove that remote viewing works, they can collect a million dollars from the James Randi Prize. I am not surprised that there have been no remote viewing instant millionaires. http://skepdic.com/randi.html I have three numbers written on a piece of paper in my wallet. Anyone who claims to be a remote viewer care to view thre paper and post their "seen" results here? Just three simple digits, shouldnt be too hard. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 10. Meyer Louie wrote Point taken, I'll try to be nicer to Jo. I do like her. Her insistence that Duane had a special CB that could operate on aviation freqs and CB just got my goat. I'll let it go. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  11. Georger wrote Yes. That's right. I also read the scandal sheets while waiting in the checkout line at the grocery store. All with arrogance, disapproval and prurient interest. If a talk show host doesn't believe in alien abductions, voices from the dead and remote viewing, I spin the dial until I find one who does. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 12. Farf wrote If Norjack were done a few decades later Cooper could have had a briefcase full of LiPo batteries that could serve as a power source, bomb and/or flare depending upon how they were handled. I fly RC, I've seen what LiPos can so when they misbehave. It's pretty scary. Blevins, was the unnamed "skinny blonde" you referred to at Ariel Marla Cooper? Galen Cook definitely bottom trawls on his radio show appearance choices. Wonder why? I'm not expecting him to be on NPR, but he could take it up a notch. Maybe he gets a kick out of radio slumming. I hope I can find his show on Weds. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  13. That is GOSSIP! I would appreciate it if you would check you facts. The LONGEST conversation I had is with someone on this thread in the last few month. I will be calling Dona to express my feelings about this slanderous thing she said. You have to know that is not true. My record is almost 3 hrs - period. Only 3 hours? OK Jo. I do believe you. Shame on those who accused you of making long winded phone calls. And a pox on Farflung for all those o's, 3.33x too many. I wonder what drove JT off? I know you don't miss him. I also wonder if Larry Carr still reads the forum once in a while? Hope your test results were good and that your health improves. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 14. Farflung wrote Just last night I had a chat with the director of retail sales for Tesla and rained on their "cheap miles" parade with calcs very similar to yours Farf. The retort was that cars similar to their model S drop far faster in resale price over time than the S will and that will more than offset the cost of battery replacement. No science, just optimistic projection that Teslas somehow will barely depreciate. Still, it's a nice looking well made car. They had a bodyless chassis on display and it was impressive. Great aluminum welds too. It's a good car for wealthy folks with Silicon Valley commutes who want to make a Green impression. Girls in SV would go for a Tesla guy over a Vette guy. Times have changed. On your jet ground level economics: spot on. My only jet time was an hour in the right seat of an ancient Lear 24. It was GUZZLING fuel just taxying behind a line of airliners. I swear the fuel totalizer counter seemed to click less often when we were doing 400 knots at 32000 feet. The only reason jet airliners are used as fire tankers is huge payload and high en route speed compared to the old converted propliners such as C54, C118, DC 7, C119, C97 etc. I still wonder what level of aviation knowledge Cooper had. If he really specified a flap angle and gear down he wasn't an av Whuffo. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  15. Forest Service using 727s as jumpships? That would astound me. The state and fed forestry and wildland fire services have shown interest in contracting with companies flying retired jet airliners converted to fire tankers. Planes used in this role include 747 (tested and retired), DC 10 and BAE 146. The DC 10 slammed into trees taking one drop a little too low in CA. It ripped off a big outer section and tore up the rest of the left wing so bad you couldn't believe it managed to keep flying. A replacement wing was pulled from a desert derelict and the DC 10 was back in business. https://www.google.com/search?q=dc+10+air+tanker+wing+damage&hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&tbo=d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=IBmyUJePM8KfiAKgjYCADg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=320&bih=416#i=45 https://www.google.com/search?q=dc+10+air+tanker+wing+damage&hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&tbo=d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=IBmyUJePM8KfiAKgjYCADg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=320&bih=416#i=44 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 16. This evidence along with Galen Cook's remarks makes me soooooo glad I haven't given Jo my phone number. With email and PMs you can control the timing and duration of comms with Jo. It's not an insult. I like Jo, but I've never had a ten hour phone call with anyone nor do I plan to. It's very difficult to judge the altitude of an airliner by its sound. Inversion layers can reflect sound if the airliner is flying below it. Power settings, as Bruce points out, is a big variable too. Remote viewing? The closest I'll come to this technique is using a remote control to view a TV. To me it's an unscientific unproven hocus pocus thing. If anyone could prove it works they could claim the Randi Prize if one million dollars. I did use remote viewing to find a list sock once. But that's an anecdotal coincidence not a proof of efficacy. I know the difference between causation and correlation. Sounds like a good time was had by all at Ariel. Hopefully next year. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 17. Jo wrote "Just had to" is pure speculation. Many items touched and handled by accused criminals fail to yield usable prints. Ask any crime scene tech. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.

  19. If the FBI collected the bomb in Reno, but never revealed it, that would make a good "prove you have unique first hand knowledge of the incident" question to check self confessed Cooper wannabes. I don't think that occurred, but I do think the FBI has kept some secrets that can be used to filter false claims. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 20. Matt, Can you tell me the difference between prog-Knoss-tication and prevarication? I can't distinguish them. Bob lost me waaaay back when he insisted that DBC wore a chest mount reserve on his back as the main. I rack that right up there in technical fantasies with CBs that can do comms on the aviation band. Maybe in another dimension... But not here in this one. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 21. Jo wrote Jo, when you start putting conditions on the FBI's ability to examine evidence you compromise the investigation. Jo, how do you KNOW Duane' prints were on the resume? Did you dust it? You also KNEW that the CB in Duane's Caddy could communicate with aircraft. Your guesses are morphed into certainties by your bias. There are plenty of odd aspects to the FBI's investigation of Norjack but I don't see any of it as evidence of a conspiracy to cover up the real identity of DBC. Mistakes are made, poor decisions are made, opportunities are missed etc. Big investigations always have their share of errors in assumptions, techniques and analysis. That's just the way it is. Jo, you imply that the FBI thinks Duane is connected to Norjack and is covering up. Why would they do that? They'd LOVE to solve Norjack. You repeatedly demand that the FBI prove to your satisfaction that Duane was not DBC. They've proved it to their satisfaction with prints and possibly DNA. Why should they do more just to please the widow? Besides, proving it to your satisfaction is an impossible task. You'd claim they were wrong no matter what. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  22. Farflung wrote My mom used the same cranberry "recipe". I too recall the can molded red cylinder. I ate a lot of yellowfin tuna sashimi. It was just the pre dinner appetizer. 25. It was a Tuesday afternoon, Sept 23, 1941, as four members of the Arthur Whitmer family were in a field picking tomatoes, about one mile west of Kratzerville, Pennsylvania . Around 2:10, as they made their way through the vines, their attention was drawn to the sound of an object hurtling to the earth at a terrific speed. They saw it hit the ground with a great thud in a freshly ploughed field. One of them said that it hit with such force that it rebounded from the ploughed earth about eight to ten feet into the air. They were about 100 yards away and felt the vibration from the terrific impact. They thought at first the falling body resembled a mailbag dropped from a mail plane, but when they ran over to get a better look, they discovered the crushed form of a human being. http://www.check-six.com/Coast_Guard/21_Sept_1943_Mystery_Fall.htm Some radio nuts will go to extremes to get their antennas optimized. I can see Snowmman doing this, but as experienced ice climber, I bet he wouldnt have fallen off. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
