  1. Scott wondered if Cooper was still aboard. Turning on the public address system, he inquired, ``Is everything all right, sir?'' ``Yeah, everything is fine,'' Cooper replied. There are only two 727 "cabin gauges": temp and pressure, both on the flight engineer's panel not the pilots panel. The temp wouldn't fluctuate wildly and given that the plane was flying unpressurized, doubt if the pressure gauge would show wild movement over a large arc even when the door rebounded. The flight engineer's panel is behind the co pilot and at a roughly 90 degree angle to the pilot's instrument panel. Very unlikely that either pilot would be looking at it. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  2. You aren't Ghandi ! And I'm not Jerry Springer ! Maybe that's your confusion. Well, if I can't foster tolerance, I'll take humor Georger. You have been in good form on that front. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  3. I agree about the phone call not ruling him out Bruce, but as you point out, the composite description is not a good match to Mayfield. I wonder if Tina or Flo or the ticket agent were ever shown photos of Teddy M? In my experience in criminal law you would not believe how inaccurate some drawings and witness descriptions were. Ted M was a MAJOR risk taker, with his own life and unfortunately also with the lives of skydiving students. Still a person of interest in my book. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 4. Well, my Ghandi pitch hasn't worked. Jerry Springer is alive and well. Let's get back to Cooper. Mayfield seemed like a very good candidate, but he was eliminated, supposedly by a phone call that could not reasonably have been made by Cooper (1.5 Hours? after the jump time) . What else eliminated him? Could any of it have been faked? He was highly expert jumper, a convicted criminal and from all I have heard, a very clever person. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  5. Not really on topic but found it when searching for posts mentioning Oregon and canopy. Just shows you how dangerous canopies can be, even on the ground. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  6. Tolerance, Georger, tolerance. Why try to shut Jo down? If you don't like her emails or PMs, just ignore them. They can't be that much of a bother if you don't open them. Most email systems allow you to put unwanted senders on a spam list that will filter their furure emails. PMs are very easy to ignore. I don't like censorship. Jo might have got Ckret censored by his superiors and if she did I am really pissed. The solution, however, is not to censor Jo. This is, in the end, a skydiving forum. In my 40 plus years of jumping, I have found skydivers to be a remarkably tolerant group. Have you seen the bar scene in the first Star Wars movie? Those mutant freaks could all be on the same load at my DZ with no problems. Try to keep that spirit alive here. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 7. One thing ya gotta like about Jerry, he says he has been searching for years but does not claim to have found anything linked to Cooper. Most hunters of the obscure claim success of some sort. There is a group that has been searching for evidence that Amerlia Earhart crashed but made it to an island alive. Every scrap of aluminum, every old shoe that they find becomes probable evidence of her survival. Using that logic, Jerry could attribute every 70s vintage candy bar wrapper he finds in the woods to Cooper. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 8. And since the the FBI has failed to prove that your friend did not cause the wall to be torn down, he almost certainly did cause it. QED. The fringe edge of the UFO crowd looks for meaningful coincidences and never fails to find them. Every car that had trouble starting prior to an alleged UFO sighting is proof of UFO remote electromagnetic capabilities that exceed anything known to modern science. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 10. Jo, None of the Cooper candidates mentioned so far could be convicted on the basis of the ambiguous evidence I have seen. Conviction on the US requires "proof beyond a reasonable doubt". Plenty of reasonable doubt remains about Duane and all the others too. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  11. Jo, Well, the silver turned out to be a non starter. Looks like it was silver nitrate put on the bills by FBI techs looking for prints. When things are slow here I don't mind debating your "Duane Weber was DB Cooper thesis. I believe you about Duane telling you he was Dan Cooper, his mysterious trip to the suspected jump area, etc etc. It's just that none of the evidence you have presented proves that Duane was anything more than a Cooper wannabe. Georger, how are you calves doing? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  12. Jo, Rather than playing all sorts of dodging games, what if Duane had told you before resigning that he was Cooper. Would you have called the FBI or just have lived with the secret? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  13. Flawed logic. Best thing you can do to avoid standing out is to maintain status quo, not make an inexplicable resignation that has everyone puzzled and wondering "why?" But then again, if Duane was such a sharp guy how can we explain his huge number of arrests and convictions? The CIA obviously employed him as a prison mole. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  14. Why aren't you mad as HELL about Duane the criminal? It cost FAR MORE of my tax money to imprison him numerous times than it did to help the child of an illegal immigrant get basic health care. By the way Jo, like it or not, a child born in the US is a US citizen regardless of his parents' immigration status. It isn't the kids' fault if their parents are irresponsible. It doesn't bother me one bit to have my tax money spent to help those kids get food, basic medical care and a public education. We are all immigrants if you look back far enough. What's worse: an illegal immigrant who works, drinks and buys his kids junk food or a criminal who rips people off and ends up a mega welfare recipient in prison? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 15. And yet not more than 6 months after the hijack they investigated and prosecuted the watergate burglars ... or to put it differently if Weber was working with Barker, they were working for the same guy, so why would they go for one set and not for another. It just doesn't make sense, Jo, and you are ignoring repeated rational arguments on this subject by 377 as well. The history both of your own "circle" of covert agents and of such stuff in general simply belies what you are trying to claim. Small world. I once represented Frank Wills, the man who found the door ajar at Watergate and alerted the police to the burglary. The matter I represented him on was a driving related matter that happened a few years after Watergate. It had nothing to do with the break in. He died in 2000 having received little recognition during his lifetime for his his role in changing US political history. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 16. So is there a Barish Sailwing in your future? http://parachutehistory.com/other/sailwing.html That radical canopy will sure open some eyes at your DZ or at any DZ for that matter.! 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  17. Beatnik, Not only are these great nostalgia shots, they are REALLY good air to air canopy photographs which are not easy to shoot. Nice going. Keep em coming. If you really trust old gear jump a Sentinel 2000 AAD. I have one I'll give you, but they probably are not legal any more. What are the rules on old AADs? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 18. Can any of you explain how the T Bar money might have become contaminated (an ironic term here) with microscopic silver particles? No alloy info is available to me. I assume (but don't know for sure) that T Bar sand isn't the source of silver in this concentration. Some think this is circumstantial evidence of pre T Bar storage. Treat this as a hypothetical question, but I have reason to believe that it is real. Tom can jump in if he disputes it. Wish this mystery would draw Snow back in. He thinks way out of the box. Others have been pondering this info for a while but nobody has a good explanation. Any ideas? 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  19. Jo, Truth is a defense to slander, so if you are publishing true material what are you worried about? No contingency fee lawyer would touch such a small time case for a plaintiff and no ordinary middle class plaintiff could afford to finance such a suit paying by the hour. Lawyer greed works in your favor here Jo. Your fears of lawsuits are unfounded. You come up with all sorts of reasons why Sluggo and now you cannot post allegedly relevant evidence you claim to possess. Just post ALL the relevant evidence you have and let us sort it out, unmanaged. As long as you manage your evidence and selectively disclose it you will not be taken seriously here or anywhere regarding your claim that Duane Weber was DB Cooper or involved was with him. You will be viewed as an obsessed eccentric and it is nobody's fault but your own. Also, the totality of your posts indicates a persistent belief that the FBI does not want to really solve NORJACK for some reason. If you believe that you are deluding yourself. Solving this case would be very beneficial to the FBI and the agent who solved it would rightfully be a media superstar. That is a powerful driver for finding out the truth and a huge disincentive for a coverup. You equate the FBI's lack of extensive followup on Duane with a conspiratorial coverup. I and others here view it as good resource management. Sluggo has urged you to change your approach. I add my voice to his. When the most Jo tolerant guy on the forum says you need to change your ways, you really ought to give it some serious thought. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 20. The Conatsers deserve such good luck. I still can't believe they actually bought and flew a DC 9 as a jumpship. Bet they spent over 100x of the revenue that plane has generated. Truly insane FAA regs that time out the engines on calendar time will mean even more huge expenses. They have invested heavily in skydiving which has got to have some of the lowest returns and highest risks of any sport facility investment one could make. I just hope they don't lose their taste for being DZOs when they win the high speed rail land lottery. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  21. KC, Welcome brother! I started jumping in 68 as a freshman engineering student. Still jumping 41 years later. Ya picked the right sport. It NEVER gets boring. Congrats on AFF 7 completion. Back in the day we had no AFF. After static line you had to teach yourself how to fly solo.I did some serious flat spins and wild tumbles before I got the knack. It's all better now, the gear, training and safety. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. Trained by the late Perry Stevens D-51 in 1968.
  22. You could be right Georger, but I'll give Jo the benefit of the doubt. She may have misheard, but I don't think she is fabricating the incident or what she believes she heard. I have nothing to back up my position, just my sense about people and their motives. Call it a hunch if you wish. My beef with Jo has her as an honest person who carefully manages evidence and engages in selective disclosure. I don't think she is cynical about it. She believes she needs to act the way she acts to preserve confidences and to be sure her story is told her way. That approach is counterproductive and aggravating. Sluggo, far more elegantly and infinitely more tolerant than I could do it, has pleaded with Jo to try a new collaborative approach by dropping or at least ceasing to repeat her often stated solution to the Cooper mystery and her endless gripes about the FBI. It's never to late to change. Will Jo do it? I don't think so, but there is always hope. Even if she doesn't change, I will welcome her here and gladly engage in cordial dialogue. She is older, a widow and I think sincere, even if wrong about Duane. Sounds like someone who deserves some kindness mixed in with the critical dialogue and that's how I try to treat her. 377 2018 marks half a century as a skydiver. 23. Jo, So you are saying you dont know for sure that the FBI ever was given a video of the night clerk's story? The FBI rarely agrees to keep anything confidential. You can mark something "CONFIDENTIAL" but that does not obligate the recipient to honor your designation if there is no other agreement in which they contractually agreed to do so. You don't have to identify the night clerk visually. Just post the audio and let us hear it. That won't subject him to any kind of harrassment because nobody will know who he is or where to contact him. You can delete his name if he speaks it. You always claim to have relevant Cooper evidence but then can't disclose it for various reasons. I don't think you are a liar, but I do think you manage evidence and do selective disclosure. It hugely detracts from your credibility, yet you continue. You need to accept at least some responsibility for how you are treated here. If you act differently, you will be treated differently. Sluggo tried to make that point in color and boldface but I think it was a wasted effort unfortunately. You don't deserve all the mistreatment you get here but you have brought some of it on by your own actions. Internet forums can be rude, harsh and uncaring. They bring out the Pit Bull in some people as you have experienced. Hang in there Jo. Not everybody here is your enemy. This forum is as much about entertainment as it is about crime solving.
