  1. Has anyone ever heard of really large rigs being made for students? The father of one of my skydiving friends wants to skydive but the student canopies are too small. The limit is 100kg and he weighs about 115kg. But he could jump if he just had a big enough canopy. I know he could jump a 250 sq ft eventually but he needs something large enough for the progression. What is the wing loading for a first-time student on a 290 sq ft anyway? Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  2. I completley agree. I must have met about 20 people over the 2 years I have been jumping who actually said they would defintley be out at the dropzone the following weekend and still never do it. I've started to just avoid the topic altogether but somehow people find out anyway and I can't help myself; I have to evangelise. lol Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  3. I have had the exact same problem only my arms are uneven so I usually end up flaring unevenly. I have taken a few tumbles like that I can tell you! Holding your arms close and pushing down helps but I found my elbows were also giving me trouble. I have started to exercise my arms at gym and also visited a physio who has given me exercises to do and it is starting to help. If it makes you feel any better; I did my 101st jump the other day right after my 100th. Since I didn't want to fall on my 100th (for obvious reasons) I landed perfectly but then on the next one I didn't flare at the right time and landed really hard on my coccyx! I am definley going to start landing better cos my bum can't take any more of that. Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  4. I bought this helmet when I started skydiving with a view to convert to a camera helmet. I have been very happy with it; it is comfortable and fits me perfectly. The only thing is that the cover on the chin strap doesn't go down all the way down and the extra bit of strap is always loose.
  5. I have to say it's a difficult one. We have discussed this at the DZ because we tend to lose a lot of women in the sport because they get pregnant. I know when I get pregnant I will definitley stop skydiving. Since this is only going to be in a very long while it's not a problem yet but I do know that it would suck if my husband (who will surely be a skydiver!) carried on. I would feel so left out because I also love skydiving. Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  6. I just started and from the moment I spoke to someone on the phone to my first jump everyone was so helpful and nice to me! The club is great and they make the experience more fun than it already is. This is definitely a great club to jump with.
