  1. Erm, that's what I thought. But I can't figure out how to clip 'em. Ok I need to play around a bit more. Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  2. Hey those are pretty good! We've decided on Chasing Jane. I realise (only now) that there's a 4-way team called Chasing Amy but that's in America anyway. I like Gin and Tonic or even better - what we drink here: Klippies and Coke :) Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  3. Erm I don't know. I installed the download from www.divx.com (the only one available). I know VirtualDub works just fine converting video with the codec so surely so should Adobe? Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  4. Cool thanks! Haha, 1. should have been totally obvious. Thanks for tip in 2. You don't, by any chance, know how to repeat a certain portion of an audio track? Actually I suck completely at the audio stuff so far and can't even understand the audio editor. Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  5. Firstly sorry I put this in the wrong place, I wasn't sure where else to put it. And PhreeZone, thanks for the reply. I was really referring to recent events (2007) so that explains it. I had assumed that the database relied only on people submitting the incidents. Thanks :) Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  6. I am new to this and am making great use of the help package but some things are just not answered there. I actually have 2 questions: 1. How do I capture a still from a frame? I would like to either export this as an image or use it in the sequence. 2. How do I limit the hold on a frame to a certain length of time? I.e. I want to pause on a frame (just in that track) and then carry on playing the clip as usual. Thanks Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  7. Thanks, my problem is when I get to this bit: There is not DivX codec to choose. I hasten to mention that I have installed DivX. Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  8. I was after the DivX codec but WMV is also fine. I have a serious aversion to Quicktime formats because I always seem to have a problem playing other peopole's .mov and mp4 files and I can't convert them to .avi for my portable player. I need DivX and MP3 encoding for my poratble anyway but the WMV is also not there that I could see. I will have to try when I get home. Please can you explain that? 9. While it is not as likely as say, a ruptured eardrum, it still is possible and the more congested you are the more likely it is to happen no matter the difference in air pressure between altitude and the ground. Also while a ruptured ear drum is likely to happen first barotrauma or any other damage to your sinuses is more serious and probably more painful. Jumping with congestion - NEVER! 10. It's not how many jumps you do per year but just that you have jumped in the last say month or 3 month or whatever. As some others have commented some of us do less jumps but we still jump often. So those who are paid up members of the relevant organisation and have jumped in the paid for period would seem about right. It's not how active you are but just that you are. Surely when you become properly inactive and are not jumping anymore, you don't bother to pay your membership fees? I wouldn't! Just my 2 cents worth :) Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  11. thanks, yeah that's what I did but the codecs are not there. I have installed DivX though. Not sure why it doesn't show. Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  12. Heya I am using Adobe Premier to edit my footage but I really can't figure out how to compress the video using DivX/MP3 or whatever for uploading! Any help? Thanks Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  13. I don't think so. Incidents added to the database are at the discretion of those who report them - there are many incidents reported in the forums which are never added to the database. I know there is a moderator who checks what is added to the database before it is made available on the database but I don't think they add anything themself. Please correct me if I am wrong. Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  14. I was just wondering if all the fatalities reported in this forum should not be added to the fatality database? The database is there for statistics but is really not very accurate if all the incidents are not added. Just a thought. Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  15. Here are the dropzones that I frequently visit - all near Joburg in South Africa. :) Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  16. Usually on exit, if you have a group of people (even just 2) you have to exit evenly from opposite sides to keep the balance or the chopper will stall. We jumped out a Huey here the other day which rocked :) Have fun. Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  17. At the beginning of our 2-way FS efforts (actually the first thing I did after ISP) after a couple of terrible jumps: "We docked! Just in time but we got together." Haha, we took about 5 grand to get together but it was quite an achievement as previously we duffed the exits so badly we had to seperate and then we could not get back, sometimes not even find each other. 18. Hahahaha well it was good for a laugh on Monday morning if nothing else! Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  19. PS I love my canopy and it opens nicely and the things peple have said here but there is one thing. I get consistently off heading openings - always 180 degrees around. Is this normal? Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  20. Hehe, I'm not sure if this is the same Pilot as we have here in South Africa but I got a new Pilot 188 a year ago and then starting learning how to pack. I promise you I cried every time I packed and I didn't actually get it into the dbag once on my own until I had done almost 100 jumps on it (and tried to pack it about half those times). That said I have finally learned to pack on my own! lol Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  21. This is something I have thought on before. I know that when I have kids I will stop skydiving. I just can't carry on doing something that may endanger my lifeor health while I have a small baby. As much as I will hate to quit I think I will have to. I would also want my husband to quit with me (I'll have to marry a skydiver!) but I would not force him to. On the other hand, I might just start up again once they are older. Oh well, it's just as well I'm not having kids any time soon! Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  22. Cool thanks guys :) What about "A guy and a girl"? lol I liked Tarzan and Jane cos my nick is GPSJane but he doesn't want to be Tarzan :( Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  23. Hehe I like. Well we're a guy and a girl and we're jumping in Junior 2-way at Nationals in a few months. We're both of the same experience which is well, junior. Hope that helps? Liz Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  24. My 2-way partner and I are trying to come up with an original, catchy 2-way team name but we just can't seem to find something that we like! Any suggestions? Thanks! Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
  25. Get a packing bitch. That way you don't have to pack Just kidding haha. Anyone else have this problem? I have a 190. I ordered a container for a 190. I got a 170 container. I just learned to pack and I am a girl with weak arms. I have CRIED over my pack jobs cos I STILL cannot get it in! Only skydivers know why the birds sing; they don't have to pack a parachute!
