  1. Naw, they would probably take their subjects to other parts of this forum. This is the trashcan of DZ.com, it's not like any venue is w/o trash; that's utopian.
  2. So are you the skydiving forum Nazi then? (Seinfelt reference)
  3. Is this a trial summation? If so, it'snot very good! ...rule enforcement for the good of the greater... Uh oh, that's utilitarianism, which is derived from Communism.... are you suggesting we become more Commi in here?
  4. I must be dumb or something, but I just don't see how supreme court decisions apply to how someone runs a private forum. He was merely drawing a parallel. But, if taken litterally, the US Sup Ct does get involved in many private matters more trivial in scope than an internet forum, but it must have a federal implication. There are lower appellate courts that handle state cases that are again, more trivial than an internet issue.
  5. I must be dumb or something, but I just don't see how supreme court decisions apply to how someone runs a private forum. I must be dumb or something,... Hey, you know you can be banned for insulting yourself like that. Now go and appologize to yourself.
  6. Great example - I do recall that one. I'm 50% sure it was Texas, but I could be wrong. Either way, this thread isn't about bashing Texas' laws and prosecution, just the shortcommings of judicial systems that allow this kind of murder in the name of self-defense.
  7. Yup. See above statements. Texas law allows you to defend yourself, your family AND your property. That's what that comes from. Ya, but that's vague. If I did research I bet I would find that the notion of shooting anyone on your property w/o questioning them has gone a bit to the wayside. I know in previous years that that was the rule, but would be willing to bet that prosecutorial/judicial descretion resides more on the side of caution than it used to. Remember the car repo guy that was shot and killed by the homeowner as the repo guy was legally repoing a car? The homeowner wasn't charged to my knowledge, but I bet he would be now under identical particulars. My speculation, but I bet it would be diferent.
  8. Although I'd personally let the TV go and claim it on my insurance...it would be perfectly legal in TX to shoot. I know Texas laws allow for more lattitude, but I bet there are borderline cases and that margin is shrinking. It's a national trend away from, "shoot now / ask later." I don't know much about Texas law. The bad thing with the kind of logic to which we refer is that it allows for mistakes. For example, if a friend or a relative are rummaging around in your house and you mistake them for an intruder, the knee-jerk reaction is to shoot first. There are many stories about wives, brothers and kids being killed because of the ,"shoot first" menatlity.
  9. Why? I've never noticed that. Even if it were true....so what? This isn't public space any further than the guy paying for it wants it to be. So what? Well, it's true the forum has no duty to provide a service, but if any forum wants to appeal to its members in good faith they should appear to be objective.
  10. I see, so to give the impression that there is no political bias the conservative greenies ban/suspend conservative members - liberal greenies ban/suspend liberal members. We've got em fingered out! BTW, I was just suspended for 2 weeks for basically returning barbs. My opinion is that paying members have a lot more lattitude.
  11. Most of the replies here are the John Wayne variety and not be viable in court. This reply is the way it is in most states - sorry shoot 'em up variety. Translation: if someone is running out the back door of your house with your tv, you can try to separate the tv from him, but not by bullet.
  12. Get the aftermarket grips that are fatter if you plan on putting many 00 buck shots through it. If you shoot 00 buck and don't, be prepared to have a sore hand with those skinny-ass worthless stock grips. I bought mine new 14 years ago - shot it hundreds of times - reliable and fun loud and sloppy by now, but the noise would make an intruder wet their pants.
  13. Are they open again? They were closed a couple months ago.
  14. My screensaver has a picture of Bush saluting one of those sadistic American songs where you are supposed to place your hand over your heart, probably the national anthem, and he has his hand over his stomache. Maybe it was almost lunch, maybe he just didn't know, maybe he's just a moron, but yoiu should be offended, Ron.
  15. And so was Bush winning, but you don't let that stop you from bitching about it. A president winning and an impersonal death notice to any war, but especially one that is suspect are quite different, but nice avoidance. Also, your comparison shoots yourself in the foot. You are essentially saying that anyone who disagrees about something, and they are on the minority side of, are just bitching. Well, you are bitching about an opinion-based issue where you reside on the minority.
  16. In your opinion. Um, it's actually the opinion of most of America.
  17. A letter of appreciation from your Commander for the time you served is immeasurably less important than a death notification sent to the family of a fallen soldier. I think it should not only be personally signed but also handwritten and hand delivered by someone. Thank you
  18. Yes, that you would rather cry about the dead than protect the living. Good point, if we would just leave the dead carcasses there, we could avoid the shippment back to the US, freeing up resources to ship weapons and goods. I'm sure Rummy will get around to that.
  19. And I got a letter from Clinton...I bet he signed that himself. And you produced the dress anyway? I also have letters from several CEO's. I bet they signed them all. Oh, don't forget my autographed box of cornflakes. Let's see, death notices to parents from children, letters from CEO's announcing company business..... same thing. You guys are getting pissed about a signature cause you went looking for something to get pissed about. No, there are plenty of things to get pissed about - no shortage here! If this was Kerry, or someone other than one of the "Evil" men, you would blow it off. Evil, eww geez, don't the Repubs ever quit? Evil Emipre = social country that has little military might. Evil men = peace-loving presidents.
  20. Thats close to a personal attack. And its also just your opinion. And yet you supported Kerry's egotistical goals? Funny. That's kind of a concession deferring to what Kerry MIGHT have done or not done..... tough to defend Rummy; I feel your pain.
  21. OK, so just after skimming the referrence and your comment, "In God We Trust" wasn't a founding father's thing on the money, or possibly in the pledge (maybe someone can shed light there), so maybe that wasn't the intent of the FF. So to summarize, how can we refer to the FF thoughts and intentions in regard to the 2nd in regard to specific gun ownership when those thoughts can't be supported with other Amendments like the first in regard to what separation of churcha and state meant and to what degree? Again, it all falls back on the US Sup Ct NO MATTER WHAT and there is no way around having some body of governement interpret that intention of the FF.
  22. Where does one start? I guess the easy way is to say I disagree with all of your post. Mostly the unAmerican and debate part. The left called "themselves" unAmerican and tried to pin the label maker as if it came from the right. They did this to try and put themselves on the political high road. (Hillery in particular). IMHO Once again we have some one here that thinks because the majority of those involved in politics don't agree with them, the majority therefore is uninformed, stupid or both Dam frustrating if you ask me See, manyconservatives will just address the peripheral aspects of why the US is unAmerican or not, why the left wants to be perceived as unAmerican or not, etc.... Address some substanive questions like we have become what we fear. Why not define what we fear, then argue why it is what we fear, then argue whether we fear that or not. See, you kind of support the counterarguments when you just get frustrated that people want to argue the subject when taht is what America was founded upon; right to dissent. This is essentially the flag burning issue all over again.
  23. I think it was pretty recently (which respect to the age of the nation) that "In God We Trust has been added, but I am not positive. Any currency experts here? Any coin collectors? Show us ur knowledge!
  24. "Evidence the US is NOT a repressive dictatorship? Let's see...you were able to make your post about the president and haven't been thrown in jail yet and won't be - for that at any rate...people protest the president all the time and aren't thrown in jail..." Try that with a judge. The immunity is transferred to judges, so the Monarchical immunity isn't with the King/Queen but the real rulers, the judges. And yes, you will be lynched if you say anything about a judge. Hell, try slamming a cop, that'll work too. Many lawyers refuse to sue cops, some are ballsy enough tho. "Claiming the US hasn't free elections is just asinine." Where are the personal attack police when you need them? "You claim McCarthyism on the part of the Bush administration and have yet given no examples other than your accusations. Anytime you're ready. I've read more than a bit about Mr. McCarthy and look so forward to seeing examples of Bush's administration emulating his methods." I don't know tons about McCarthy and the correlations to Bush, but would you entertain arguments and comparisons to Fascism? Don't make me research and post if you're going to summarily pick over the points; you must promise to answer them all as will I answer all counterclaims. Again - which war has yielded no civilian casualties? Which wars were fought w/o cause? Korean, Viet Nam, Gulf, Iraq, and more smaller wars I'm sure. This inane obsession liberals have about why we invaded Iraq is fascinating. WE HAD INTELLIGENCE - THE BEST INTELLIGENCE OUR NATION COULD PRODUCE - TELLING US THE MAN HAD WMD's. WE GAVE HIM WMDs IN THE 80'S. INTELLIGENCE IS NEVER 100% ACCURATE. WE INVADED. WE'RE THERE AND WON'T BE LEAVING FOR SOME TIME. Right, we're right, most ofthe rest of the world is wrong. Mmmmhhhm. Uh, and since you guys rely on the ends justifying the means....oops, you're wrong. I will give the cons credit for not flying in the WMD's in a C-130 at 3am. Oh well, there's still time. So, what does a reasonable entity do when they're wrong? Do they undo the error? Yes. Now that we realized we were wrong aboutthe WMD's, why not restore the country and bow out? Not change their ideology and political structure, but restore things the way they were. Noooo, ya see, that gives us away - we went in to change the countries government and political structure. The rest of the world knows that, but the US cons don't. Naw, they do, but the facade must continue to justify the Imperialism. freedom of the press freedom of religion (try that in Taliban ruled Afghanistan) freedom of speech no burkas for women no beheadings of criminals no chopping of the hand(s) for theft Are you joking? You comapre the US with actions of countries like China and many Middle Eastern countries to suppport your, "the US is a great place" argument. Hey, here's an idea, why not compare us to Scandinavian countries? How about many countries in Europe. Hell, even compare us to the former USSR, they don't even kill their citizens anymore. That is a skewed argument to compare us to the worst of the worst, but I see how you could do that considering that there are like 8 countries in the world that still kids people for juvenile crimes - maybe you're right on track.
