  1. I don't like turbulence... so I sit out if there's much gusting over 20 mph, or major shifts in direction. If it's steady, I'll jump in 25 or so... much more and I'm backing up under my canopy. But if it's constantly changing, I like for it to be under 15 or 20... but I like no wind days best, so maybe I'm crazy. Marc
  2. Awesome man, congratulations! One of these days I'll do that water training thing and get my B... hehehe... Marc
  3. I've seen some, eh, heated discussions... I've managed to stay out of the way of the police this far though, knock on virtual wood. A good friend of mine(another one of the Falling Illini actually) is a waitress at Fat City now... it's standard procedure for the rest of the skydivers to go bug the hell out of her any given night she's working. Hehehe I don't know if you lurk here or not Sam but you know we love ya! Marc
  4. Wow, what a weenie. I think I've had enough capital letters to last me a couple of months! Although, he could obviously Give A Shit what I think. You know how the rest of us feel Sangiro... keep up the good work! Blue skies Marc
  5. Wow sounds like a fun time Marc... hehehe! Haven't been to the Tumble Inn. My favorite places so far are Murphy's when it's not too crowded, and Fat City Saloon(definitely a townies bar).
  6. I absolutely prefer a laid-back atmosphere of an old fashioned pub to a dance club or a night club... freshman year I went through the whole "college party" thing, but it's frustrating to go to a place where you can't move, can't breathe, and listen to way too loud techno while drinking Icehouse from a warm keg... I'm so much happier sitting in a bar with a few good friends and just chilling out, getting some pitchers of Killian's and talking. Blue skies Marc
  7. Hahaha...I nominate this for quote of the month... I do love a good metaphor... Marc
  8. Wow, first of all, Nathan, amen to that! And in response to several others... I find it *really* difficult to just "disregard" things. Yeah, I admit it. I like to believe that I'm a "nice guy". I don't want to change that. It seems pretty insincere. Does that mean I'm doomed here? Women really want to date assholes, and the only way I'll get anywhere is to become an asshole? I don't think I can do that. My cynical .02 Marc
  9. You guys are hilarious! Wildblue, you captured my recent "stupid people suck" sentiments exactly... Marc "...but I've got the pistol, so I'll keep the pesos... yeah, that seems fair."
  10. Loving family, great friends, good music, a beautiful world to fly in, and beautiful people to teach me how... Blue skies and too much turkey, Marc
  11. Wow, if there's one thing that gets to me, it's asymmetrical boobies...

It's because you haven't cut away... there's still something in your life that's holding you back! You have to cut it all away! Hehehehe... Marc I'll take "Bad Skydiving Movies" for $400...
  13. As far as I can tell you can pretty much pack anything however you want, you just eventually find a way that works for you every time and get into a groove. Like you said, there's a thousand different ways to get the canopy in the bag... but like I told you on saturday, I've flat packed my Triathlon with no trouble. I pro pack it now because that's the way Aerodyne says to, and it looks cooler. But I've put about 35 jumps on mine and just in the past couple of weeks finally found a way that I can pack it every time and have it open consistently in a way that I like. It just takes some practice. I had to jump my pro pack 5 or 6 times before I really trusted it too.... Marc
  14. I've been told that kicking your legs under canopy is the universal signal for "I see you" to whoever you're looking at... I think it's a good idea too, if you've got traffic all around and need to slip behind someone, it's good to know that they're at least aware of you... The best thing is, of course, to stay as far from other canopies as you can, as several people mentioned. Nothing like a little unannounced CRW to get the adrenaline pumping... Marc
  15. Man, that'd spook anyone! I'm glad to hear you're ok though... little ol' inexperienced me, I dunno what to say in terms of advice except for the fear thing... after my early student cutaway... I just had to get back in the plane without letting myself dwell on any of it, because I knew the longer I sat, the harder it would get. Then once you're out in the air again, it'll all be fine once more! We're all behind you! Blue skies, Marc
  16. Dave- I'm from Springfield but I'm actually going to school at the U. of Illinois in Champaign... Marc P.S. GO ILLINI!!! P.P.S. This whole debate makes me think one thing... it's almost time to skydive...
  17. I'm sorry... am I the only one who laughed out loud while looking through that site...? Marc
  18. This is meaningless. You're not going to defend yourself from an attacker with a nuke. I don't own a gun at the moment(I live in a dorm) but once I'm on my own property I want to be able to defend myself. And when I have kids someday, they will be taught to respect firearms, and to use them correctly and safely. Kids who "accidentally" shoot themselves or others only do so because nobody took the time to teach them anything. Knowledge and respect are key. Marc
  19. Sounds a lot like what I just got, Vector, Triathlon... I absolutely love mine! I've had no real trouble adjusting from student gear to it either. Good questions to ask were mentioned of course, exactly how much use it's had, how old is the Cypres, condition of the reserve, etc... I brought mine in to Archway to have a full inspection done on it along with the reserve repack before I bought it too, it's only another $10 over the repack. Good luck in any case! Marc
  20. Wow... I'm speechless! I can't wait to come out to Perris next year... Marc
  21. I wondered where you wandered off to. The show went off really well, it was probably the best we've played so far... excellent day all around! Marc P.S. I'd post my desktop but I'm way too lazy. Analyze THAT!
  22. This is true... I never really noticed how beautiful the sky could be before I started jumping... Marc
  23. Question--why is doubling rubber bands a bad thing? Don't they just break if the lines don't slip out? Marc
  24. Pardon me while I curl into a ball on the floor and whimper for a bit... ouch...!
