  1. Rewatch it again - in the clip you posted where he is reading the passage from his book he clearly says 14,00 feet - "Jumped out of the plane solo at 14,000 feet." He says it 3 seperate times in fact. In the interview portion he does clearly say 40,000 feet. He obviously misspoke because he got it right three times when reading the passage from the book. As far as the solo bit, he is partly correct, only the "solo" part doesnt apply until he deploys his canopy... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  2. Hey Jerry, Hackish is correct - it depends on when you Jav was manufactured as to whether it can be fitted with a skyhook - I really wanted a Collin's lanyard for my rig so I looked into the whole skyhook option but was told by J that my rig was too old - something about the harness design IIRC. 3. With Halloween coming up and most dropzones having boogies, maybe you will get lucky and win a raffle -I know we usually have a 50% off a Wings container as one of the prizes for our raffle, as well as other container discounts. As for the Skyhook, I wouldn't mind having one myself (more for the Collin's Lanyard than the MARD itself), but I certainly wouldn't base my container decision solely on whether it was Skyhook compatible. Just my 2 cents. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  4. Here is your answer: "I have talked to my DZO's my instructors and they think its ok once I finish my A-license and have seen me under canopy. " As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  5. Stolen Cypress test units sold by Justin Shorb. The firing altitude was higher than a sport Cypress and one fired on a fun jumper causing a two out situation.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  6. Getting there is easy as the Emirates are served by all the major airlines as well as most regional carriers. Expect to spend a lot of money as it is a very expensive country. Also be careful with the booze - its fine in Dubai but the rest of the Emirates that comprise the country are much more conservative, and alcohol/pork/"porn" are illegal ("porn" in this case means any magazine that shows women with uncovered arms/legs etc)... 7. There is a picture in the hanger of my home DZ of the TN state record, a 13 stack. Of the 13 only one of the canopies is planed - the rest are stacked. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  8. My mom absolutely HATES it - we dont really discuss it too much. My dad, on the other hand, was very supportive... that is until his first trip to the DZ to watch me jump, which (of course) was my first cutaway. He knew what my canopy colors were, and all he saw was my cutaway canopy going down behind the trees across the field and was convinced I was still attached to it. He didnt even notice that I had landed my reserve less than 50 feet from where he was standing! He is still more supportive than my mom but he has never come back out to the DZ to watch... 9. I think its silly to require a D license in order to get your 12 hours or 1000 jump wings, but at the same time I dont really understand WHY you would have 12 hours/1000 jumps and not want or have a D license - unless it is the General Principle of giving that money to USPA. But if it is GP, then why would you want an award from an organization that you have a big enough problem with that you either wouldnt want to be a member of or give money to?? Overall I think I side more with the D requirement being irrelevant in this case. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

  11. I dsagree. Put them in the classifieds and see what happens - If I had the money I would definitely buy the container to use for CRW so I wouldnt have to keep swapping out my main, and I know a few other people who have recently bought old old gear for CRW or for water jumps. Even these days not every jumper is afraid to jump without an AAD. I am not familiar with the Pagasus but I wouldnt have a problem buying an old canopy just to have as a backup in case I lost my main during a cutaway (again, if I had the money to spare) - an old canopy would be better than sitting on the ground until I saved up enough to replace my main. I would be very surprised if you got anything for the reserve though, other than maybe selling it on Ebay as a car cover - but you never know. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  12. Broke my little finger by getting it slapped by a riser on opening and kept on jumping that day (didnt realize it was broken until the next day LOL). Broke a knuckle on a landing and was jumping the next weekend. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

  15. Amen. Actually I kinda feel sorry for the people that are so pathetic they have to make up bullshit stories about how they were/are jumpers . I guess they have no idea how easy they are to spot to a real skydiver.... On the other hand I think its kinda funny (in a sad way) that they have to make up jump stories when pretty much anyone can actually make a tandem jump these days. And I do find it amusing how many people that think we are crazy brave or are adrenaline junkies... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  16. If they turn you down for a canopy you might have a much better shot at a custom logoed jumpsuit - you could even explain how you really need 3 - 1 for RW and 2 for freefly (a solid suit and a 2 piece suit)... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  17. I always have the same conversation with the instructor: "dude just do the dive flow, i'm not even there!" This is from your instructor, what other advice do you need? Sounds pretty damn simple... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  18. WOW... First of all I never even considered asking USPA or ANYONE for that matter to intervene - it is their DZ and they can choose to ban any form of skydiving they choose to. Second, I never intended to "out" the DZ or DZO , nor to give them a bad or controversial name with the CRW dogs on here (or with any other persons). Third, after talking to a friend who was present at and saw this fatality, I really understand WHY the DZO chose to ban CRW. While I don't like it and personally I feel it is an overreaction, I do understand. And as mentioned above it is his DZ and he can put whatever rules he wants in place. I still plan on doing a couple of jumps when I am there this October. I will just make them RW instead of CRW - no big deal. I was just wondering if it was somewhat common for DZs to ban a particular form of skydiving. It appears that swooping is Public Enemy Number One when it comes to banning. And just for the record, I have heard NOTHING but GOOD things about this DZ and DZO from my friends. I am really looking forward to getting some jumps in while I am in the area :) As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  19. There are lots of good suits out there, you shouldn't limit yourself to just a Bev suit... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  20. Doesnt the rigger have to record the DOM so he will know when it has to be removed from your rig? At any rate, I am following this story with some interest, having met Justin about 2 years ago. He struck me as a particularly moraless person (trying to pick up married women, etc) but he also refused a few people their first wingsuit flights for not having 200 jumps in the last 18 months (thus turning down money as he received an instructors fee), and he did evaluation jumps with the ones he did train to ensure they were ready for wingsuiting - so I guess he had some small concern for the safety of others (at least at that point). And this was before the wingsuit BSR... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

  22. And if he had chopped and the reserve was a bag lock.... And we had these pictures of him flying this main. What would you say then???? Would your opinion change? No it wouldnt. That canopy cleary should have been chopped. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  23. I get a few seconds of falling sensation when jumping a Cessna 182 or 206 (and helicopters of course), but I have never gotten a falling sensation when jumping a Cessna 195, King Air, Otter or Skyvan. Probably has to do with the airspeed. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
  24. Just curious - I am going on a trip out of town in October and emailed the closest DZ to where I am headed. I asked if there were any CRW dogs jumping there and expressed an interest in doing a CRW jump - the DZO replied that there had been a CRW fatality there last year and he has since banned CRW from his DZ ! Anyone ever heard of a non-CRW DZ? I have seen and heard of DZs that ban hook turns, but never one that specifically banned CRW. Seems a bit extreme....thoughts?
