  1. good thought. You have to admit, however, that a game review from a good friend is far more likely to convince you than one from a magazine. the other part was that if someone doesn't create a really great game, people have already played it, andn will not buy it. meaning companies have to live up and surpass the audience's expectations. personally, there's no way I'd buy a game unless I played the full version BE THE BUDDHA!
  2. worse case scenario: rig sitting in basement/closets somewhere in parents/wife's/g/f's house, Jumper dies in car accident or plane crash or other non-skydiving related incident? owner of the house has no idea how much it's worth but decides they want to get rid of it, (elderly person might go straight to a pawn shop? 3. So there was an interesting conversation between a friend of mine and I. we were discussing Halo 2 and how a french version of it was released (on the internet) about a month before the game was scheduled to be released. Understandably, the company is rather upset by the incident and is launching some sort of a search to fine the people that have been downloading? (which, in my opinion, will yield close to nothing, especially because they post, on the internet, how they plan on going about doing this) anyway, my friend and I were discussing it and we were tossing around a rather interesting idea. If a game is really good, any gamer will go and purchase it off the shelf, regardless of if he has the pirated , fully functional version or crappy download. That's just how it works. Which means that companies have to make their games really, really good in order to make any substantial prophet. Beyond that, if a gamer downloads the game and starts telling all his friends what a great game it is, their friends will want to play it and then go out and buy it as well. the idea was that Piracy Keeps the gaming companies on their toes, and helps spread reviews of games, ultimately, putting the ball of prophet of a producer's game, in their court. just a thought w/ many down and upsides. what do you guys think? 4. I would agree that those that stand atop a bridge and contemplate llong enough for cops to get there are doing it, in large part for attention. as a desperate last attempt for someone to notice them. those that just want to end it. do it the easy way, without leaving their home, or, in our sport, by enjoying one last freefall. This is going to sound crude: but if someone is in enough distress to want to kill themselves andn follow through with it, they are obviously unstable enough to not care much about life. I would much rather have these people kill themselves than have a recap of colombine or one of the many other slaughter + suicide incidents that have plagued our nation. I have a friend that committed suicide, and as devistated as I was, had he not done that, something much worse was inevitable. r.i.p. Matt BE THE BUDDHA!
  5. I dunno guys, if she's just looking for something to resell, it's obvious the seller knows absolutely nothing about parachutes or rigs...... pawn shop? and if the numbers check out... and if she does indeed have the money to just throw in to an extra rig to resell....or even trade w/ a jumper that's looking to downsize? Just a thought. p.s. b.t.w. if that gear is legit and that auction still has 6 days on it, a lot of people are going to have the same idea and the price will skyrocket BE THE BUDDHA!
  6. so I just bought a jesture costume multipurpose for halloween and a new part-time jumpsuit anyway, any ideas on hohw to secure the hood of it to my head or helmet? I've thought of putting an elastic/velcro band and attaching it toward the top and putting that under my neck, or zip tying from hood to helmet chin strap. suggestions? Think of it as if you were trying to secure the hood of a regular hoody BE THE BUDDHA!
  7. Meijer + hunting section=good "rubber type" waterproof gloves w/ the entire front being that slightly tacky rubber gripper stuff $4.00 on sale takes care of any and all problems involving warmth, wetness, tackiness (for hanging on the plane or pulling) made a jump altitude temp was
  8. Hey man, I'm not qualified to give info on stuff like this, but, if none of the more experienced guys answer your post, search the forums. even over the short time I've been on these forums I've seenthat question asked at least 5 times, probably WAY more. yeah and get the book, what he said, congrats on the purchase :) BE THE BUDDHA!
  9. The key to eliminating back pain (nearly any ache, pain, or injury for that matter) is to identify the muscle imbalances that are pulling the spine, bones, and joints out of place and then stretch the tight muscles while strengthening the weak muscles. (find back stretches?) make sure you're monitoring the symptoms of your back pain as well, to make sure you don't develop anything serious maybe try wearing some sort of ice pack? check out this website http://www.sportsinjurybulletin.com/archive/1090-lower-back-spams.htm BE THE BUDDHA!

  11. I would agree with that, and I think a lot of the push towards staying in countries in which we have defeated enemies is in large part because of a wounded pride. (iraq, wounded pride over vietnam) If someone messes with us, we're going to show them we're the boss(seems to be our mentality), I was in full support of going to war, Hell I had several friends that got sent off, one of which, the last time I saw (about 7 months ago) was doing P.O.W. training. I was in full support of getting saddam, but we definately have no reason to stay there other than to establish that we're the best and that no one had better mess with us. I just hope we don't end up taking over too much territory and have the world rise against us... JMO BE THE BUDDHA!
  12. Health fitness major here. well....you have a hell of a lot of muscles to explain...not only do you have the major muscles of the arms and back used in extension, you also have the flexors/extensors of the wrist, digits (including minimi), pollics, pectoralis major and minor, serratus anterior (depending on the specific movement) etc. I can help you out a ton depending on what you want to stick to, let me know what groups you're concentrating on specifically (I.e. brachium, etc.) BE THE BUDDHA!
  13. And all of us are going to lake whales for the college boogie, eeeh? EEEH?! BE THE BUDDHA!

  15. wait, pull the slider out in front? ....does that mean you don't quarter it? just pushing...explain further, please? BE THE BUDDHA!
  16. thx for the post, tried it forgot to add that one in there. I've tried rolling all for about 20 jumps 4 and 4 for about 10 leaving the nose alone (seems to give softest) about 30 just pushing the nose in the middle about 10 along w/ rolling the tail hella tight thx anyway!
  17. thx, yeah, I was talkin to a buddy of mine earlier today and got the same advice, I'll have one put on, as far as packing dif. I've tried rolling all 9 and putting to the middle, rolling the 4 on either side and leaving the middle cell out, and rolling the tail super tight. doesn't really seem to have much of an effect. are there other tips for packing softer openings? (just talking about packing, not not body positions on opening) we won't talk about the time I forgot to quarter my slider on that sucker BE THE BUDDHA!
  18. thx for the advice guys, it's been really really helpful. a prob I've been having is getting slammed (because of my lines...hopefully) and am fairly sure I had a bit of a problem w/ a disk in my spine (self-diagnosis is low-level herniated)pain has since, mostly gone away. anyway, I think I'm going to get a reline and if I keep getting slammed, sell it off, thx for the replies BE THE BUDDHA!
  19. My other option is spending the money to reline my (600 jumps) sabre...a friend says he can sell it for about 500 to 600 out of his country hmm....given that info, is that still your advice? (not trying to provoke an answer either way, just asking now that you have all the variables) thx for the advice though, I see your point....*takes in to consideration* BE THE BUDDHA!
  20. I have the opportunity to pick up a pilot w/ less than 40 jumps on it for 1000 dollars, no shipping fees. I have about 200 bucks in reserve and barely any income. (college student) How often does one come by a deal like this, and is this worth me scrambling for cash and selling stuff for? (keeping in mind that my season ends in 3 weeks) BE THE BUDDHA!
  21. brilliant man!! brilliant! digital readouts on the wrist rule all...exceppt...I've noticed I can't read the #'s whilemy canopy is opening..hmmmm are there any "cheap" audibles out there that have 3 +beeps out there (besidesthe skytronic) that are as easy to change as the neptune? (skytronic is rather a pain to switch altitude beeps) BE THE BUDDHA!
  22. I wore ski googles a couple times alright for belly baaad for FF Oakley style or sunglasses that wrap tend to be the most stylish and work well...at least, in my experience BE THE BUDDHA!
  23. I'd suggest the combination of a Neptune and a pro-track (Neptune doesn't record max and minimum speed, pro-track does) the neptune is absolutely awesome, I have mine on my wrist, but had it on my helmet for about 20 jumps. great both ways. Neptune offers digital read out, backlighting for night jumps (turns backlight off when not in use) climb rates in the plane, upgradeable software, now 3 beeps in freefall and three beeps under canopy with new software, automatically turns on when you start climbing, automatically switches to free fall and canoy modes, etc. automatically off after like 10-20 mins of non-use, and service from alti-2 is EXCELLENT. had a button break off, told my dealer, sent mine in, sent me a new one...yeah, awesome. then I wear a skytronic on my helmet as something just for beeps BE THE BUDDHA!
