Jumped for the first time in 3 months yesterday.. All we got was a 2000 feet hop-n-pop.. I normally have a rule.. I don't get out below 2.5k.. But I foolishly did.. I hadn't jumped in 3 months and I had just drove 113 miles to the dz.. I was bullheaded.. I got out on the step of the cessna, exited into the relative wind and dumped.. waited.. waited... waited.. .. . looked up to see a bag lock. Only a couple seconds had gone by. Nicely opened pilot chute, line stretch.. Just didn't have enough airspeed to get the damned thing open.. Reached for my cutaway.. paused, reached up and tuged on the risers.. Canopy opened straight and on heading.. You see.. I normally double stow the last 2 rubberbands for easier openings.. I had an open canopy at about 900 feet, +- 100 feet... #1.. I should have followed my rule of 2.5k.. #2.. I shouldn't have jumped the pack job knowing I packed it to open slow. #3.. In retrospect... I should have cut that fucker without hesitation.. I am kind of beating myself up about the whole thing.. Just seems like I was toying with the odds in an unfavorable way if you know what I mean.. I will honor my hard deck of 2.5k no matter what.... Just thought I would share in my dumb assness... Got enough of a rush out of that one for 15 jumps.. lol Rhino

I would not suggest it with a highly loaded xf2. I am at 2.0 and wouldn't. This canopy is definitely sensitive to bad pack jobs at higher loadings. I pro-pack the same way every time.. Rhino
